Helping with toxicness: Chat before the game w/ killer?
The toxicness of DBD turned me away for a while as I hit higher ranks. I decided to return to Overwatch since they announced the 2-2-2 system which seems to have cut down toxicness by a bit. It's small but I like the ability to tell the enemy team gl/hf at the start of a game.
Do y'all think this would do anything to help the game if there were two in game chats pre game? One for survivor only and one for killer and survivors?

I can't predict if it would be more positive.
But I can tell you I'd immediately close it and never open it again.

It might help develop a more friendly relationship between killer and survivor, but then again it could also do the opposite.

That could form a slightly significant relationship before the game, maybe it’s be worth a shot

@Gravnos When I played DbD, I had the chat box permanently closed, anyway.
Now, I've been in Overwatch since its Beta. And to this day, the first thing I do when I load into the game is turn off Match chat with the opposing team. I started doing that around the end of Year One.
You might be a GL/HF kind of player in match chat, but you're a minority within my own experience. And that goes for Arcade, Quick Play, and Competitive modes.
And 2-2-2 did not cut down on toxicity. It did at first on PTB, but it has gotten a lot worse since the "Beta Season" happened. It becomes glaringly obvious where the weak links are on a team under 2-2-2 (such as two DPS who can't hit a Pharah with hitscan, or a Reinhardt who has no idea of positioning, et cetera) and has led to an uptick in toxicity in my opinion (Note: I'm a support main).
Once 2-2-2 hits QP in the next day or two, expect toxicity to increase even more between those who will use the 2-2-2 QP as Competitive Practice versus those QP players still only playing for fun. Not to mention, the insane queue times for DPS players.
To help with DPS queues, Blizzard stated that they are considering widening the SR gap for the Comp matchmaker, as well as the MMR gap for the QP matchmaker. If they do, then you'll also be playing games with a matchmaker system similar to what DBD is doing right now. Oh, what fun!

While theres time I wanna be able to chat with my opposition so we can all agree to use BPS or something... I also see this as a possible problem in the form of working with the killer.

I think this would be worth trying. Worst case scenario, it is toxic like the rest of the game. Beat case scenario, it allows for more relaxed and fun matches.

I know how "in character" some of our community gets. I can only imagine the chat BEFORE the killer kills you. Not saying any names or anything @RoKrueger

As a killer I would love to have this option (and others can turn it off if they don't like it).
Maybe the lobby could have open coms?
Everyone could say their gl hf and fun trash talk ^^

Hahaha. Imagine convincing every survivor to offer BPS and you offer an Eboni mori instead. It would be wonderful <3
It would only work a couple of times though.

Something tells me youd convince them to do that and farm, only to tell them in the ENDGAME chat that you ment they could farm eachother off the hook and die.

The only thing that would work was if the devs would make stricter rules on what is allowed and what isn't.
Bullies won't start to behave if they aren't forced to.

I mean I'd be up for giving it a shot but I'd imagine it'd mostly be general glhf stuff (which isn't bad), organizing farm sessions in advance easier than ever before and survivors dodging a killer when they see their name and it's someone they don't like for whatever reason.
All in all it'd probably be pretty neutral. The vast majority of postgame toxicity is because of stuff that happened or was percieved to happen in game, I honestly doubt many people would talk mad trash in pregame chat.

"Any of you run X, Y or Z and I'll facecamp you" would probably be popular.

I can see potential here.
If the killer and survivors write to each other "gl have fun" it's gonna be a less toxic match I guess and less toxic endgame. And when someone is already toxic in the pre game chat you can decide to leave now or keep the chat closed in the after game.
Good idea!

I’m torn because I would like to believe players’ better nature will win out and people will be more friendly and can organize party streamers and gateau seshs - but I know deep down there will be toxicity and backstabbing.
“Hi guys! I hope you have fun. I’m doing a challenge I’m really struggling with, if you guys can help out that would be great!”
”:)”
Scenario A: Killer is genuinely struggling and survivors purposely waste their time and deny points.
Scenario B: Kindhearted survivors try to help and get tunneled and moried for their help.

Basically this. I want to believe this would help, but then I also know how this community can be. (Bubba's who fake like they want to farm and then chainsaw the entire team down, I'm looking at you)

No
This enables a survivor to work with the killer
It would also require the option to report in the lobby, which is a new feature, and considering we still don't have basic necessities such as rank reset after over three years since launch there is basically no chance the devs are capable of implementing that before the heat death of the universe
