The noises caused by your repairs and their hearing distance are reduced by 0/4/8 metres. On a failed repair Skill Checks IconHelp skillCheckspng, there is a 30/40/50 % chance the Generator IconHelpLoading generatorspngexplosion will be prevented.

question for experienced survivors and killers.

survivors- does the percentage cover anyone helping you with a gen as well if they miss a skill check? If not consider a buff to do so.

also is it Viable for stealth? does it make that much of a difference in noise reduction?

killers- is it harder for you to tell when someone is working on a gen with this perk? Like could you walk by at passed 8m and tell?

It only covers your failures, not anyone with you on the gen.

I'd say absolutely, I can repair generators right next to the Killer, and if they're not rocking some good headphones you literally can't hear any repair. My last set of headphones I used for 4 years were bad so I couldn't hear anything. Now it's just extremely faint and it's fun repairing in front of Killers when they chase someone (chase music drowns out the noise hardcore, making doing the gen safe).

Only if I listen really closely. It does make a big difference.

Awesome awesome. I like this. Follow up question if someone else is doing a gen with you does it cancel over your perk so that the gen progression can now be heard?

Yeah it can, though only that person will be heard, so if they run away and the Killer spots them, you're safe to repair it without any fear of being heard. It could be more beneficial to work by yourself but if someone next to you is a loud worker and they take the Killer away, gives you more room to do that gen since the Killer would've thought "Oh there was just one person here, didn't see/hear anyone else" so he likely won't be back there.

I've repaired gens right next to loop areas and the Killer couldn't see me nor hear me since he was too focused on the chase, where otherwise he would have heard it (since repairs are loud) which would give yourself away. It's such an underrated but awesome perk.

Awesome thanks so much for the answers and advice. You were incredibly helpful! I wish that it covered anyone around you on that gen with its abilities .I think it would be useful to get that kind of a buff to it with all the generator perks and nerfs in the upcoming patch. I digress though.

From my use of it + Urban Evasion, it's proven to be the most underrated perk in the game. The amount of times i've finished a generator infront of someone + during a chase in general is satisfying and nice. Use it with urban and it'll be hard to get caught at a gen.

It's meant to be a lone wolf perk besides being a Focus competitor Min is also described as being a lone wolf and not super altruistic. Lore wise it basically means she won't put herself in danger to save you and she prefers to work by herself and all her perk seem to reflect that.
Technician helping you and you alone repair  stealthily.
Alert gives you aura reading of the Killer so you know how best to avoid them.
Lithe is an exhaustion perk and none of the exhaustion perk benefit anyone else but the user.

@HeroLives I'm glad to have helped you out! I think giving it to teammates would be a good buff, though still having only you be quiet has its uses when the Killer's coming to your gen and someone else is there that can take the Killer away, cause only his repairs would be heard and not yours!

It's good for stealth and underrated imo, part of what I call my 'tech ninja' build.
The sound deadening is awesome and the 50% prevent explosions has stopped me from revealing my position more often than not (going for those great skill checks with ruin).

I use it along with SB, UE, and IW for doing dangerous gens...those in open, middle areas or places hard to see a killer coming. Because of it I prefer doing gens alone, cause a noisy repairer helping just negates that benefit.

Something else worth noting about technician is that I believe it has a 50% chance to cancel out the 5% regression for hitting a good skill check on ruin. Generator progress will still be halted briefly, but having a chance to not get regressed in addition to that is still nice.

I've tried that over multiple matches and it never stopped the regression.

It only covers the noise 50% of the time not the regression from ANY failed skill check be it Ruin or not.

Technician should work like this: Your expertise with machinery makes you very proficient with operations. You repair generators 4%/8%/12% faster, and gain 1%/2%/3% extra progression upon hitting a Great Skill Check. The noise of repairing generators is reduced by 12/16/20 meters.

As I became a better survivor, I just started repairing generators in the killers' face if they were chasing someone. They would have to keep juggling which survivor to chase, and whomever he commits to just leads them away.

I feel like Technician is only good if you're excessively bad against Ruin/Overcharge, but also ridiculously bold to repair generators close to a killer, too. There's better perks for accomplishing stealth and staying alive.

It's better for low ranks or beginners, the best thing is if you have to leave a gen when the killer chases you and it sometimes prevents that wack skill check fail that you can't do.

It can work on mid-high rank killers sometimes as its so incredibly rare to see no one suspects it. I had a match as Hag where someone had brought a flashlight into the match but was very good at finding my traps. Turns out she had a surprise Small Game. Wasn't expecting that haha.

Unless I'm mistaken, Technician can't help with Brand New Part. I know that BNP is getting nerfed, but I would have liked Technician to help prevent blowouts and keep the BNP active. Most survivors wouldn't use it, but ones who are bad with difficult skill checks (like me) would actually find it useful. I think it would be a fair buff.

I would prefer if it stayed as a stealth perk rather than just a gen-rush perk.

Side note: Against Freddy a failed gen skillcheck will still wake you up even if Technician cancels the explosion.

killers- is it harder for you to tell when someone is working on a gen with this perk? Like could you walk by at passed 8m and tell?

They will rarely hear you on the gen, the issue is they will hear the generator progression and most killers just check the gen because it's making a load of noise.

There are times when it's useful, like 3 gen strats or if the killer is chasing someone else near the gen you are working on.

Also bear in mind that even if the explosion doesn't happen, you still get the lost progress

That’s what I wanted to know was if the generator progression could still be heard. Apparently it just covers up your noises. It would be so much better if it covered up/reduced progression noises as well. Or even if there was a perk that covered progression noise.
