surge already nerfed?!

I may strongly disagree with how they went about the EGC nerf, but I definitely understand the reason it needed to be changed.

Wow, really? The only new killer perk was looking forward to, how sad really. 24 meters does feel like it will do nothing a bit too often to be a viable perk. 32 meters didn't sound op to me honestly. Wish they would have just tried this perk in the ptb before nerfing it.
At least we've got the Dying Light Rework.
1 -
How can it be OP once again if its never been released ?
Killers and their drama smh

I think that if the perk said the nearest 10 vaults will be blocked then that would be better for most maps rather than a radius.
Every perk has it's uses, I just feel like if it's a little overwhelming in a 3 gen plot then that's the Survivors fault and the killers opportunity to capitalise on it with the help of this perk.

Wait, Cruel got nerfed as well to 24 meters? Lol, that perk already looked like it would be very situational. Definitely not going to use that perk.
Hopefully they'll get buffed again, I want more perk variety.

Second Wind was sidegraded.
It was 20 seconds outside of the terror radius
But now it's 30 seconds no matter what.
2 -
Correction, a lot of KILLER/KILLER PERK values get tweaked to make sure survivors have fun bullying them.
5 -
I'm actually mad. They always make their new killers and killer perks weak as $#%+
3 -
That's a buff..gives it way more utility

The knight in chining armor ready to save the day for the devs.
Just because they said in advance things are subject to change doesn’t mean people should agree with the changes and can’t leave their feedback on them. It’s not that insane either that if players disagree with changes that they would like an explanation why these changes were made in the first place.
Peanits did cover that now though and I can see why they changed Surge because it can be OP in some situations, but it’d have been nice to see it for myself.

Proof?

Well its the worse case scenario buff it

Pull the trigger like its a semi automatic weapon

From streams. Didn't take clips. Otzdarava is online now, you can ask him if you wish.

"If it's not good enough, worst case scenario we buff it before the update goes live. This is what the PTB is for, after all."
Sure, Sure, in our dreams!
2 -
sadly thats how it is most of the times.
1 -
That's just a load of BS. Killers have received many buffs within the last year. They don't tweak them to let them get bullied. Killers aren't that weak anymore.
2 -
Not that big of a nerf. 24 meters is still a significant area. As for camaraderie, it only affects campers. I don't camp, so I don't care.
1 -
It wasnt nerfed.
As they said in the teaser for the perks and NOBODY listens.
"These values will change, these numbers will be meaningless by the time you even hear these words."
Nothing has been nerfed OR buffed, because they already told EVERYONE that these values would change, and that they were temporary.
How does nobody understand how testing before release works?
5 -
so what there are like few small maps and tons of huge maps . atleast it could help with map pressure . . or you could make it with the killer TR scaling , synergies with distressing

I really hope that is just a personal opinion of yours that the perk was balanced around 3 gen strat. If there are 3 gens close togheter at the end then that is on the survivors and killers should not be punished for that or even balanced around it.
0 -
If you have to account for such a niche strategy like hard camping a 3 gen setup on a perk that in all likelyhood wouldn't have been very common/strong otherwise, then maybe the concept of the perk wasn't good from the start?
If anything the nerf pushes the perk to be worthwhile ONLY in a 3 gen setup (assuming the 24 meters is large enough to hit 2 very close generators).
Hard disagree on the basic attack differentiation for clarification. Hillbilly and Cannibal's chainsaw looks like a chainsaw, not a basic M1 attack. Huntress hatchets look like a projectile, not a basic attack. Legion and Pig's Frenzy/Ambush look like a basic attack, but with the killer running fast at you. I mean, by your definition, shouldn't Nurse's blink attacks and Spirit's phase attacks not be considered basic attacks since it requires you to do something "no other killer could do"?

Not as weak as they once were, but most killers can't deal with cream of the crop survivors. Yes I can agree that there's only like 3-4 low tier killers left out of soon 17 total, but there's still only 2 that can truly deal with optimal survivors.

I'm worried about that last part. Cause if you guys decide to look at Legion and apply that change, you'll be obliterating a dead horse.
The only thing they got going now is that some perks synergize with Feral Frenzy's stab. Take that away, and Legion will be the single worst killer who can either use their power but not their perks, or not use their power, because of the dumb power regression only the Legion has.
(Spirit doesn't have to wait about five seconds to reuse her Haunting ability after hitting someone)

24 meters, and I really had hope they were on the right path. Cruel Confinement is already bad because most maps have loops and pallets but few windows now the radius is smaller and now Surge gets nerfed to 24 as well? This is disgusting, Surge was going to be the best perk, WAS, it needs to go back up to 32 and Cruel Confinement needs to effect ALL VAULTS when the LAST GEN is popped.

So all the survivor perks were adjusted to be made stronger
All the killer perks were adjusted to be weaker because they could punish survivors for making mistakes
Yep seems fair
5 -
haven't tested it and you don't realize how potent and worth the perk slot it can be. Kapp'ing yourself man

Nah I do. Unreasonable nerfs are not needed without seeing it through the playerbase first. Even if someone like @Peanits demonstrates or gives an example on where it can possibly be overwhelming and in which situations, that's just assumptions. It can be end up being completely useless after all.

If public match data is important, why do we still have such huge limitations on the PTB? Barely anyone will have tier 3 of any of these perks in the 1-2 days the PTB is actually populated enough to get a match.
1 -
What they should do is base it off of the killers terror radius instead of having a fixed radius. For cool combos.
This is some bs also
2 -
32 meters is a lot — 32 meters is just the radius. Imagine putting a 64 diameter sphere on the map, which has a volume of 137,000 meters around you. The formula for a sphere is (4/3)×3.14×Radius = Volume.
Now, with 24 meters, we have a sphere with a volume of 57905.84 meters around you.
I know these numbers are big, but really, Dead By Daylight doesn't have a lot of multi-story (Vertical) buildings, so most of that will go to waste. However, my point still stands, you're covering 24 meters in every direction. That's a lot.
0 -
...Those numbers are legitimately useless. In practice a 24 meters radius in-game is pretty small in relation to how far apart objectives or props typically are. Yes, I think we are ALL aware that radius consists of distance in all direction. We did not need the word/number salad.
0 -
Since for all intensive purposes most of the time it's a circle lets not use the Volume.
It covers 1809.56 Meters and used to cover 3216.99 Meters.

Just because you dont agree with the changes doesnt mean you're entitled to whine until they're reverted.
If you dont like the changes, dont play. It's easy.
But what's not ok is when someone says "hey, this is gonna change" and people see it change, then get outraged as if it was a personal attack.

It is 34 seconds whenever a survivor is near the hook, not when the Killer ism

Intents and purposes*

A circle is 2D, and a sphere is 3D.
If Surge was based on a circle, then anything above you or below you would remain unaffected.
I was stressing the point that 24 meters is a lot bigger than what everyone else thinks. :)
Sorry, I get too nerdy sometimes! 😂
1 -
You're missing the entire point of PTB, but sure go off. Because consumer feedback is a completely useless commodity that companies do not invest heavily in, the very purpose behind pre-release PTB. /s
4 -
Even though it's 3D the situations where that maters are few enough that we can treat it like it's 2D for the purposes of determining if it's good or not.

Yall ######### too LUL

Ah, I see, but a 48 meter diameter is a lot, you could get 2-3 generators from that. I can safely say you're guaranteed to get at least 1 generator if you position when you down the survivor.
If the generators are spaced out, there's not much you can do, survivors just outplayed you by not getting themselves 3-gen'd. :)

Here is something I have never understood...
IF “something” (Perk, Add On, Item) is deemed too powerful to the point where it would be borderline OP. Why not adjust it for THAT specific scenario.
So for instance, 32 meters might sound too OP in small maps but what about those big maps where the gens are spread apart?
Why would the game not automatically adjust it for a smaller map vs a big map accordingly?
It’s something I have never understood. Because you can’t pigeonhole ONE scenario where something would become too OP and downgrade it for the rest. I don’t know if that makes sense.

Have you looked at theses forums? Every single person, including me, whines about things. I agree that it's PTB and it's gonna get tweaked alot, but get off your high horse. LUL
2 -
So because of possibility of survivors 3 genning themself, you nerf perk that already was seen as situational. Because it's better to punish the killer for survivors mistakes.
1 -
People talking about how effective Surge can be seem to forget
Survivors can just run outside the generator radius and effectively deny it entirely. I mean once they know you have it competent survivors will immediately adjust for it
In many ways Mindbreaker may end up being the most reliable perk from Demogorgon in this state
4 -
I don't think you understand my post. I'm not arguing against your idea, I'm just saying that I don't like how they change it. I haven't even tested it, it's just another speculation and I'm not arguing against the numbers, I just think it's unreasonable before the community tries it.

Definitely it's strong suit
