oh boy another buff mettle of man thread...
So let's get this out of the way first and foremost mettle of man used to be an overpowered perk at least towards the killer's who had no counters to it so how do we fix mettle of man while giving it its original purpose? The answer is simple revert it back to its previous state but make it an obsession only perk and remove the aura reading the killer gets this way the perk still retains its original purpose but is not too punishing to m1 killers the only way it will effect you that much is if you tunnel someone and they have Decisive strike overall this version of mettle of man should encourage going for different survivor instead of tunneling and m1 killers can simply ignore the obsession.
Anyway I would like to hear your tweaks and changes down below what do you think mettle of man needs changing?

Are you saying only the obsession should get the benefit of the perk?
3 -
completely change its benefit or leave it gutted
2 -
Why do you think that the old MoM would have only affected tunneling killers? Is it now considered tunneling if a killer wants to hit a survivor more than 3x in an entire match?
4 -
Maybe if you didnt tunnel so much, you wouldnt be hitting the same survivor so many times...
3 -
I think Mettle of Man needs a rework, it should give you another benefit, not a free hit.
2 -
Makes sense. I'll try to work on my slugging technique, then I won't have to hit survivors more than 2x.
3 -
Nope, gotta work on your camping skills. You wont hit them more than 3 times if they die on first hook.

Don't get me wrong guys a free hit can screw up a killer's momentum but this way killer's can counter it by avoiding the obsession I made it obsession only so that you counter it and so that it benefit's solo queue survivors more than swf

Are you saying the obsession would be the only one who would benifit from this perk? That the perk would do literally nothing at all if you equip it but you ARNT the obsession?
1 -
Yes it would be a very risky perk to run similar to the old decisive strike it seems reasonable considering the benefits it comes with
0 -
The old decisive strike had benefit to everyone running it though...
1 -
Yep but mettle of man does not this means that if you are not the obsession or you do not have decisive strike you waste a perk slot

If only the obsession can use MoM, this would be a great way to change it. It would mainly punish tunneler/camper. So i like it.😄👍 But the aura readable after using should stay, its matches so good with the evil dead movies.
i had also an own idea: revert it but survivor who used it get additional broken for the game, so it wouldnt be really an extra health state, ok with aura readable a bit evil, but its the evil dead, isn't ? 😄

Which is a terrible idea... Your perks should never be deemed worthless because your teammate decided to equip a perk.

Good idea maybe the broken status effect would be similar to deliverance like 100/80/60 seconds or something.
1 -
There's just too much bad stuff associated with that idea. Allowing only one person to access it is going to create a lot of anger and resentment among survivors, it'll be the final perfect perk for the second chance meta like it used to be, and overall the perk's whole third hit state is just dumb

Mettle of man was busted from the start I am just salvaging an otherwise useless perk but making sure that killer mains don't get punished to much also you can easily just bring a green Mori and kill the obsession
1 -
The perk needs a completely new effect thats still useful, like what they just did with left behind. If they made it give you deep wounds after body blocking the killer who's holding a survivor if your already injured or something...I could get down with that.

It is a very heated topic but perhaps you could add some kind of bonus if you are not the obsession like immunity to the exposed status effect or something

You bought that dlc for ash not the perk.

There's just too many problems with Mettle's current design as it is
The problem with your rework is it means there will be survivors that immediately leave a lobby if there are other Mettle users, it's going to increase toxicity and lead to the tunneling and camping of the obsession by some killers, and again if people don't communicate there will be multiple survivors with a now useless perk
Just rework all of Ash's perks

Okay so this discussion has become quite the argument but mettle of man is so underwhelming I have good Intentions all I wanted was for mettle of man to buffed or reworked into something useful I understand an extra hit can be overwhelming on the killers side but decisive strike does the same thing and stuns the killer for 5 seconds so it cannot be that bad.

This still has a pretty major issue that existed with the old MoM. It punishes all the wrong killers.
Most of the top tier killers could already avoid the perk entirely, or were Nurse and Spirit who didn't have too much of an issue landing an extra hit. Meanwhile M1 killers were both unable to avoid it, and more harmed by the free extra hit. Not to mention, it's also a free extra hit for doing absolutely nothing. You aren't entitled to it, work for it.
It also works too well with Decisive Strike, as once one person gets the free hit, if someone DSes the killer, then bang, you're the obsession and you get a free hit too.
It's also bad thematically, you're the obsession of a psychotic killer empowered by a god, it wants to kill you, yet there's only 2 perks left in the game that don't make that a POSITIVE thing for the survivor.
The perk needs a complete rework, not adjustments on free hits. If anything, it should be a perk that can grant resistance to one-hit downs to be injured instead. (Conditionally, not "I can never be 1 hit.")

The difference being that DS is useful to all who use it, and has some counterplay on the killer side. Your suggestion for mettle is neither of these. While mettle IS very underwhelming and im not against a rework, it needs to be useful to anyone who equips it as well as fair to be against 4 of them.

The current mettle of man incentivizes taking hits for your teammates in order to charge it. Maybe the new reworked version could simply assist in the body blocking and give yourself a BT affect, but only if the killer is holding a teammate. Just spitballing ideas. Figured this would keep in line with the spirit of the perk of letting you tank hits for your teammate's sake.

No, this would still be undesirable because it's a free health state. The perk needs to be made into an entirely new idea. We can't keep trying to make it keep the same effect imo.

There is a big difference: If the killer wants to kill a survivor, he is usually forced to hit the survivor more than 3x, no matter if the killer tunnels or not. If the killer wants to avoid this scenario, he has to use insta-downs, moris or he has to camp the survivor to death.
DS only gives the survivor immunity for 60 seconds, so the killer can decide whether to go after/pick up this person or not.
