Change from Rank system to skill level system

I literally could NOT get a fair match tonight, and I think I figured out why.

Season/rank resets on the 13th.


I was rank 6 survivor, now rank 12.

Killers were rank 1 to idk whatever that bottom limit is, and are after reset now rank whatever.

What happens is us now rank 12 guys that know how to play get stuck with rank 20's, 18's, etcetera.

So now this very under-skilled rank 10 and below SURV population, now including me, is thrown to the wolves of previously rank 1 Killers.

It is a flying spaghetti monster level massacre out here guys. Godzilla leveling cities type massacre. We have 0% chance. Veterans know even an all-rank-1 SURV team can STILL be decimated by a good Killer.

Either the ranking system needs an overhaul, or season resets do, OOOOOOOOR you fantastic devs could change over to a more persistent skill-level based system such as a simple quantified number like 100 300 700 999 whatever.

These killers KNOW that season reset is primetime for noob farming.


Ooooor maybe, idk, stop matching high rank Killers with low rank SURV teams?

    Or maybe disable one add-on slot when rank differences are too far apart? Or limit to greens?

    Right now, when you reset it's easier to pip or double pip since you need less point from emblems.

    For instance, as a survivor:

    • You are in the red ranks (1-4) before the reset and so you need +9 to safe pip, +12 to pip and +15 to double pip.
    • After the reset, you'll be in the green ranks and so now you only need +7 for safe pip, +10 to pip and +14 to double pip.

    It makes a big difference since you need to do less to rank up.

    What could solve the problem you talked about is an elo system (at least hidden) to be matched with and against players with a similar skill level. But I don't know how they would calculate this elo.

    That's exactly what I was hoping for, an elo type system. Pipping thresholds do help of course but playing with noobs is like starting with one leg.
