I Hate to be Negative, But.....

It’s official. Demogorgon is live on all systems. He seems like a cool killer and all, but -sigh- he’s a beast, not a “person”.

It’s a slippery slope, and we’ve just lunged head-first down the slide. There is no longer any reasoning or tradition that BHVR can point to for justification in denying other beast killers. What’s next on the list?

  • Werewolf? (Yawn)
  • Grey Alien? (Please no)
  • Dragon? (I mean, hey - why not? Literally every other game in existence has a dragon, so.....)
  • Vampire? (Booooring! But now that creatures are allowed, you can’t use the “bat” form to justify a “no.”)

Please finish the list for me. What other trite, ubiquitous, overused, boring “killers” are now on the table with the unlocking of “beast mode”?

Feel free to list cool ones too. I could use some cheering up! 😏

Alien? Predator? I don’t know what you’re talking about! Beast killers can be really cool

i think Wendigos (like the ones from Until Dawn) could be really cool...

i would also not mind a Xenomorph killer, though that one is unlikely to happen. i dont see the DbD devs go to the license holders and request for Xenomorphs to join the DbD killer gang, though if the license holders were to come at them, i doubt they'd say no.

Oh don’t get me wrong, (though I admittedly gave you ample reason to do so), beasts can be very cool indeed! That’s why so many games with beasts are so popular. I’m a fan of Minster Hunter myself.

That said, I’ve always felt like the adherence to “human” killers in DBD has helped to really set the game apart. Almost like a badge of honor, a mark of pride.

When you watch a horror movie, there’s a notched up creep factor watching Myers stalk his victim, especially when compared to whatever that new “giant alligator” movie is called. The beast just isn’t the same.

With this new killer, I dunno, it just feels like something was lost. Like we caved in to the pressure of “beasty bad guys go in games” somehow.

I feel like you're greatly underestimating BHVR's creativity. What makes you think they'd add any of those? Except a werewolf, that's the only one that could fit I think.

Also, they could have added a vampire a long time ago, considering that they are humanoid.

And "literally every other game in existence?" so where are the dragons in Hollow Knight, Doki Doki Literature Club, Stardew Valley, FNAF, Portal, Left 4 Dead, Plague Inc, Baba is You, Deathgarden, etc.?

FYI, BHVR never said anything about there only being “human” killers. What they specifically stated many times is, “humanoid” killers. They never said no beasts either, as a werewolf has always been a possibility. However bears, lions, elephants, etc., are not currently possible.

Wendigos used to be human that's the problem the lore of the game said the Entity only took people who were once human or still are

I don't know if this counts or not but imagine a Shapeshifter killer.

Killer starts as whatever they want the Shapeshifter killer to be like, some crazy monster.

    Normal base m1 killer.

Every time the killer hits a survivor he gains a token for that survivor, he gains the ability to transform into that survivor. This could be super sneaky and a distinctly different power / play style to add to the game.

I imagine there would be some sort of bar / timer like the wraiths cloak / uncloak.

    Beastly characters can work well.

Werewolves were scary around the 70's and 80's bar teen wolf along with vampires. It's only been since around sometime in the 2000's did they start to make them different and frienldy. Those creatures are and should be feared as humans are their prey and they crave our blood to survive and are drawn to kill even if they try not too.

They stated they want to stck to humanoid characters so they just need to be human shaped with arms and legs (even if disfigured or missing limbs) so a dragon wouldn't work.

The hag is basically a witch and she is also beastly looking in design.

Disney's The Lion King DLC sounds fun. The Scar could be the Killer, Survivor is Simba and map is Pride Rock.

Like @8obot1c (and I'm sure others) have said BHVR never said they are only making "human" killer but "humanoid". There is a big difference here.

I would assume it would be because they only want to make killers that can fit on the humanoid framework they currently use for all killers. If they had to change this to accommodate some sort of disfigured non-humanoid creature it would make a ton more work for the Dev team, and lead to even more bugs.

Wouldn't the map be that "big shadowy place" Simba is never allowed to go to? Seems like the perfect hangout for a demonic-dimension shifting god-like entity to hang out.
