DC-ing should be punished, but lobby dodging shouldn't
Until there's a secondary objective in the game, and until keys are reworked, lobby dodging should never be punished imho.

I've had far more survivors leave a lobby than killers and yet everyone cries bloody murder when dodged in a lobby. Sure it can suck because the wait times are sometimes horrible but I'm not playing a match that won't be fun (ping/4 man toolbox). As a survivor I'm also not staying in a lobby if I get a message to join another game, get a survivor I know did nothing last match or decide I can't actually hold my pee like I thought.
I would rather someone leaves during the lobby instead of screwing an entire match by DCing.

Of course. And I would also argue that dodging during the offering screen is similar to a lobby dodge and shouldn't be punished either.
To explain what I mean:
Killers typically dodge lobbies because they think they're up against a SWF (I say "think" because killers have wrongly accused me of being in a SWF when I was rolling solo), there's too many items and they don't feel like using Franklin's I guess, come up against a player they've played before (another luxury they can be aware of before a match starts).
Excluding ping issues (which affect survivors way more than killers anyway because killers host), basically they see something they don't like and they remove themselves from the match.
A survivor dodging once they see a Mori in the offering screen (because who really uses the shroud of separation lol) is the same premise. See something you don't like, remove yourself. The match hasn't started, everyone gets their items, add-ons, and offerings back. Same as a lobby dodge.

You shouldn't dodge my team of 3 toolboxes and a key, but f you and your omega blink/prayer bead/iridescent hatches/iridescent king/instant saw/tombstones and bring a Mori, I'm gonna DC the moment I know you use the red add-on.
You dodge lobby because you are weak and don't welcome challenge , but I DC because you use OP add-on and it is not fair. I DC to send out a message and teach you a lesson about using strong add-on, but you definitely a wimp for dodging my lobby.

And guys, I’ll even be respectful about it. If I’ve waited in that lobby a long time for a full roster, as killer, I will”un-ready” for a good 10 seconds before closing the lobby. It gives you time to back out before the lobby closes and kicks you out, costing you more of a delay.
Always keep an eye out for changes like this.

Lobby dodging because you see someone you recognize as a jerk is...well, I guess that should be judged on a case by case basis.
Lobby dodging because you see someone with a key is bogus.

Who cries bloody murder? All I've seen expressed is frustration of being dodged when it can sometimes take 10 minutes to find a lobby. Pretty reasonable, I'd say.

Now I don't actually think that, but I'm just trying to show you that it works both ways. I don't support dcing and I don't mind lobby dodging but keep in mind that survivors are people as well, and many of them don't want to play against certain killers / addon combos, just like you don't want to play against certain items.

3 toolboxes are the reason why give killer should play OP add-ons and Nurse Omega. It's fair game i would say.
I know your kind of players winning by the game weakness then telling Killer ez because the gens were in 3min. Bravo!!!.

Lobby dodging should be punished unless its due to ping. You want to play a game? Then play the game and dont dodge until you found the easiest initial situation.

There can always be MANY reasons to leave the game, doesn't specifically apply only to lobbies.
If people join a Killer Lobby and press "Ready" they are as committed as they can be. Meaning, they want to wait to get into the game. They have already invested time to find that lobby, and now they literally are committed and invest their time to wait for the trial to start.
It takes time to find a lobby. Dogging a lobby means everybody needs to repeat that process (so waiting again). It's not less of a waste of time than anything else, that forces you to look for just another lobby.

More often that not I dodge lobbies to get better ping, I don't care because I'm either running a Medkit or Ebony Mori. I think what you're saying is true, but with the lack of information in lobbies, I and many others probably leave to not get ridiculous ping.

Oh yeah let me just play a 3 minute game against 4 toolboxes, or a 7 minute game against a key user. If your logic is made real, a lot of killers will wave goodbye, just as they did during the howling grounds patch.

For me, hitting the ready up button is a commitment to my team/my oppenents. You have agreed to the match so see it through. DCing needs a LOT more punishment. There is never a good excuse for it imo.

@MemberBerry Well not reworked but nurse needs bug fixing and some slight nerfs (+ the addon nerfs) and spirit just needs to give survivors more information so they can act accordingly instead of trying to guess something random and praying that it works.

If you can see where she's phasing, it deletes all mindgames. If that's what you want, go ahead, but good luck finding a match at high ranks because no moron will play against you then.

When you can't know if she's phasing, where she is or how much time she has left on her phase. The spirit knows where you were before phase, she can see your scratches, she can see your blood, and she can hear you. Please explain to me how that's a mindgame.

While nt technically a lobby dodge...but I hate when one person leaves/quits right as the lobby locks us in. Regardless if they did it or the game bugged out, makes the rest of us load into a match and then end immediately...utter waste of everyone's time

She can't hear you if you have iron will, qnq also works for mindgames. You can also walk to avoid getting easily tracked.

the big difference is, that lobby dodging means you dont start a game, while DCing means that you leave a game in progress.
you can always punish players for leaving a game in progress, but you should never punish players for not playing a game.

Good spirits can hear your footsteps or use stridor. She can also bump into you even if you guessed what she's gonna do correctly, walking is also slow and if she sees that scratches don't continue she can just come out of her phase.
PS. Perks are not counterplay

@MemberBerry Well who said running them is counterplay? Counterplay and counter are two completely different things. The difference between the two should be obvious, but I guess I have to explain it to you: In DBDs case perks are NOT counterplay, because you have to prepare them in advance. Counterplay on the other hand is something you can just do by using the mechanics of the game.
Now spirit may have some slight counters, eg. iron will (this is easily countered by the spirit with stridor) or quick and quiet, but she has no counterplay. This means that without those perks there is no real skill on the survivor side anymore, because you cannot perform any counterplay. This brings up the question: "Why bother playing against a spirit then?" Many of the people I know have stopped playing against them, and I'm so damn close to giving in myself.
To sum it all up, I could easily fall asleep during a chase against a spirit just because of how unengaging it is.

I can literally say the same thing against toolboxes, instaheals, keys, ds and adrenaline. None of those things have any counterplay (no franklins isn't counterplay because they can pick the item back up, and no, invincibility for an entire minute isn't ok, because less people in game = less gen pressure on the killer), there is no skill on the killer side anymore because you can't perform any counterplay. And this ALSO brings up that same question- "Why bother playing against those things then?".
As I always said, unless you want all killers to wave goodbye, you're not allowed to touch Nurse (besides addons), Spirit and Ebony unless you touch keys, toolboxes and instaheals with it.

Lobby dodging is just a coward's way out. I don't care what they bring in. I'm going to play the match vs whoever shows up in my lobby. I don't have a fragile ego that requires I only get opponents that look like I could beat. Nope.

Lobby Dodging shouldn’t be punished at all. You’re not in a game yet so there’s no reason for it. I do think dcing mid game enough times should temp-ban you(time depending on how many time you DC, longest being until rank reset). 6-8 times within a rank reset(full month) should give you a final warning along with a bloodpoint penalty of -25% and next is a 24hour temp-ban with will being longer for each additional DC following that.

At first I want you to stop thinking that you speak for all killers out there. Remember you're only voicing your own opinion here, not all killers will agree with you on all your points.
You're right. Franklin's isn't counterplay. It's a counter, which allows for limited counterplay. It also takes 15% of the item's charges with it, and survivors going back to pick their items up wastes their time not to even mention that you're being able to get more awareness of where the survivors are based on where you made them drop their item. Remember, you as a killer can see survivors in lobby beforehand and take what you think you'll need, unlike survivors who can't know which killer they're facing.
I'd also like to point out that items are the equivalent of add-ons for killers. Anything you said in your comment can also be said about add-ons. I believe that as long as the effect is not major, it doesn't need specific counterplay. (But yes I agree that keys are op, I never said they aren't, so are instaheals, but so are many killer ultra-rares and moris)

Yes, they waste time to pick the item up and waste 10% of charges, but:
- You also waste a perk slot for doing just that 1 thing
- Keys don't have charges unless you want them to (especially considering most people run add-ons that let you keep the key in case you die or use it), instaheals too only have medkit charges if you want them to, and survivors usually run a commodious toolbox with best add-ons which allows you to do 2,5 gens with it.

Incorrect, keys ALWAYS have charges, if you hit the person carrying a key 10 times, the key will be removed from the game. You're mistaking a key not having charges unless a player wants it to for a key not being able to be burnt out unless a player wants it to (with the use of add-ons that is).

That's literally what I said. Dull and Skeleton keys are used primarily for opening the hatch, you don't have to have charges on the keys. And besides, if you hit the key carrier 10 times the game is already in your bag.
