Will it ever happen?
Seriously devs, are we ever going to get crossplay? I'd love to play with my PS4 friends.

Depends in the platform. I could see it between Xbox and PS4, if Sony would allow it. Between PC and console's? Very doubtful, it simply runs better on PC, that's already a HUGE advantage.

Doesn't stop every other game with cross play.
Besides there would likely be an opt out button if you cared about being at a disadvantage.

There are very few competitive games that will allow one party to be extremely advantaged over another. It's like queing Mobile and Xbox players, one is going to STOMP the other, not because of skill, but because of technological advantage.

@Pulsar who cares about advantages you have the tools you mastered, play at your own risk mode
Surprise Surprise
I'm saying it could be optional

CoD, RL, and Fortnight lock consoles to 60 fps (30 sometimes on switch) vs pc with no performance limit K&M and graphics settings.
This advantage exists in all crossplay games in one way or another if not K&M due to controller MM, it'll be performance or settings.
its why its an OPTIONAL feature

Except, those games run at 60 FPS. Does DbD? It struggles to get to 30 FPS on console. I would LOVE crossplay, but, it isn't realistic. Killers play way to differently on console than on PC. Nurse, isn't the Queen on console. No one can really flick with her, ergo, Spirit and Billy are seen as better options.
If the versions were more similar, I'd be on board.

You're ignoring my Switch mention.
Switch isn't usually 60fps while consoles are and pc is higher.
Should cross play not exist on Switch due to this?
Also why are you ignoring the fact that they could make cross play an on/off switch like most games with this feature?

Bob. Ross.
All is forgiven.

Yes, if the Switch cannot be brought up to near the rest of the console's in performance, then it is doubtful crossplay would go over well. However, I've not seen how it performs on Switch.
Consoles are not 60 FPS. Neither Xbox nor PlayStation have managed to hit 60 FPS on DbD.
Lastly, using an off and on switch would split the playerbase. Do you know how long que times would be?
