Is not cleansing against the plague REALLY a counter?
Okay so I main Plague/Spirit and every single time I see survivors not cleansing it weirds me out because you just removed all elements of stealth you might've had while also forcing broken onto yourself and any allies I might not have found yet. Meanwhile if you cleanse you give her the corrupt purge which all you have to do is be sneaky for 60 seconds. (Possibly a bit more) and she now has to rebreak each of you guys. Especially if youre a well coordinated team. So can someone give me a real good reason to not cleanse against her and how it somehow counters her?

I think the reasoning is that you still have loops as a defense even if you are broken. When given the choice of running jungle gyms broken or going up against a machinegun huntress, most experienced survivors are going to choose the former.
6 -
I get that but what if she has enduring, and brutal strength then you're just kinda screwed at that point. Wouldn't it be easier to just run her around when she has the corrupt purge so that way she moves slower?
1 -
Her movement speed isn't slower with corrupt purge so I don't see your point.
Does anyone really think Plague is OP?
0 -
Actually, she's be better off running Enduring/Spirit Fury. Brutal Strength is good, but you'd get more bang for your buck with Spirit Fury. And even then, it takes two broken pallets to even get Spirit Fury activated which means you still have plenty of opportunities to waste her time.
1 -
I don't think Plague is OP necessarily, but the perceived counter isn't really a counter.
Sure, you cleanse you give her a Huntress like ability with half the need to aim. It's very strong.
But staying sick is also very strong. It will cut any and all chases down tremendously against a good killer. A skilled player playing Plague will know how to counter loops and mindgame them and get her hit.
So ultimately for a good Plague the ''counter" is win/win for them. They either get a souped up vomit or they get an easy down in a loop/chase.
It's kind of huh in terms of balance when you step away from it and look at it objectively.
5 -
But her mobility is so bad and looping is so easy she isn't a very strong killer.
1 -
She is not, her Corrupt Purge is.
I mean, if Survivors prefer to run around as Oneshots, making noises (which cannot be surpressed by any means), just to not give her Corrupt Purge, this is quite a clear signal.
3 -
I mean no offense, but you have Nurse as your avatar, so I'm gonna assume you think that mobility is everything to pressure and to a degree, yes, but at the end of the day. Any of these killers can put out pressure in the right hands.
And n injured person in a loop is far easier to down than an uninjured one.
Plague is A LOT stronger than people give her credit for her. She's not in the top tier or anything, but she's definitely not a weak killer by any means. If people don't cleanse against you. You're going to down them faster in chases either by your skill or by the means of just bloodlust 1 most likely.
If you have people cleansing against you? Congrats, your job is easier as well.

People already choose to not heal against other killers, Plague isn’t any different. Stealth is meh, loops are more effective.
1 -
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IM SAYING! Shes not weak but shes not S tier killer by any means shes just above average but below god like!
1 -
Yeah but it removes any mind game and juke potential
1 -
I don’t really try to juke so I’m ok with that.
0 -
It's less a counter and more like a compromise.
Plague is a lot stronger than people give her credit for. It's just killers pushing their "Killer is Victimized" propaganda narrative. Nobody is saying she's as strong as Spirit but she's not exactly useless. While it's true you can loop her around like an M1 killer, she still turns you all broken and she still hard counters every single healing perk from Self Care to We'll Make it as well as every stealth perk.
She's more the victim of the meta, if survivors are specced to no-heal she's bad. If they aren't, she's at least decent. And she has strong synergies with many killer perks.
2 -
But thats you (this isnt intended to sound bitchy even if it does) not everyone plays like that.
1 -
My teammates usually do, I know that not everyone plays like me btw.
0 -
I am a Nurse main indeed. People tell me my opinion doesn't count cuz of that.
2 -
If your team is full of good loopers and you are well-coordinated going no-heal is better against her than the usual cleanse/stealth approach.
When denied her corrupt purge she is basically an M1 killer, so she is vulnerable to looping. Players who are good at looping can run her around a long time while the other three are rushing gens.
Since no-heal is meta in the highest ranks people just run Adrenaline, Dead Hard, Decisive Strike and Borrowed Time and don't bother healing until all the gens are done. It is fast and effective... but only if everyone on the team is good at looping.
1 -
Well that's just rude and not at all what I was trying to say. Your opinion is just as valid as anyone else's. Screw anyone who says otherwise.
I'm just saying when you're use to that high level of mobility in a killer. You're gonna feel like anyone else is considerably weaker is all.

Also I kinda put stealth and juking in the same boat and blendette is perfectly countered by plague lol

Good thing I stopped being a Blendette awhile ago.😂

The nerf to blendette has been here all along :0

Heathens!!! Bow to the Lady of Stealth, I'll show you how it's done!

Til you get puked on >:)

Honestly game delay builds and anti loop builds are best with Plague in my opinion more than any other killer since both make your power 10x more effective.

Oh really? Explain some tactics id love to learn c:

I agree with you, OP. And there cant be a viable reason. Lets start by her addon that reads auras from whonever vomits... and add the vomiting souns that is waaay loud, plus the green smoke up their bodies...
I get sooo happy when they dont cleanse. Permanent Instadown + permanent aura reading......
1 -
Plus they can loop all they want since their chase time is instantly cut in half
1 -
I actually hate the balancing for Plague from a game health standpoint.
Just like someone else said damned if you do damned if you don't scenario, she's either tier 3 Myers or machinegun Huntress.
1 -
If you cleanse before you complete all important gens you just get sick again in an instant. Cleansing is only an option when you can split her attention properly and actually make use of that cleanse, otherwise all the time u used on that cleanse is wasted and u give her a new weapon for free.

nurse "main" mostly meant you didn't played game yet
because nurse can't be main, everyone adapt her is samely godlike
and people just sick of how easy that character is
i blacklist them and down them fastest with nurse if i saw nurse "main"s as survivor
0 -
I don't understand much of what you said, but you can main Nurse and she is difficult.
2 -
she only difficult when your brain having size of potato
didn't played other games yet?
0 -
It depends on the perks and add-ons she's running and also on the map, like, on a map like Lery's, her Corrupt Purge is much more difficult to land hits on survivors.
0 -
It's funny seeing someone calling other people potato-brained, when he can't capitalize and has bad grammar.
3 -
I'm used to this by now, because as I said, people really don't like Nurse mains.

It's what makes Black Incense so much fun to use.

At low rank where people don't know how to loop properly, sure they should probably heal because they don't know what they're doing.
However, at high ranks where people actually know how to loop well, the entire team not cleansing is the best choice. This is because 1 hit from going down and being noisy is not nearly as deadly as giving her Corrupt Purge.
She's considered weak because even though she has a 1 hit down in that sense, she is extremely loopable. She now has absolutely nothing to help her counter looping and her large size makes it easier than most killers in a world where it's already very easy to loop. There are more than enough pallets and windows to have all 5 gens done and still have some left.
Yes when you finally reach them it's a one hit down, but because you're being looped so much you have very little map pressure whatsoever. This means you are getting gen rushed like mad which is exacerbated even more because they aren't wasting any time healing at all.
The little extra stealth breaking component of them being noisier is "something", but for the most part quite irrelevant because like I've said, at high ranks they know how to loop, they don't care if you know where they are if there's a pallet or window there.
I'm not saying she's trash, she just isn't a rank 1 viable killer. She relies on survivor mistakes to win.
Also, she loses any "fun" potential because since no one cleanses, she never gets to use her power other than the first couple minutes of initially infecting people. Your forced to play a boring game of just walking around and hitting M1. This is why barely anyone plays her.
If staying injured is the most viable strategy and this essentially doesn't let her even get to use her power it shows how her design is flawed. A killer that doesn't get to use their power isn't good. She needs changes that make survivors want to cleanse. I just think maybe a small repair speed penalty while sick and broken would fix the problem.

Yes. Gingivitis is a bb killer.

Honestly I'm in the cleanse is better camp, but your whole team has to be on board for it.
Either everybody cleanses or nobody does, there can't be an inbetween.
Also if the plague has double efficiency addons (backrev instadown puke) you're much better off just cleansing, but if she has addons to speed up her walkspeed while revving puke you don't want to cleanse.
Playing injured can also be made much much safe by the proper use of dead hard, which is why its such a heavily used perk because of how universally applicable it is to killers and the meta.

I agree Corrupt Purge is very strong, but survivors get a lot of say over when and where she can use it. If you are going to cleanse, try to use fountains on the periphery away from unfinished gens.
And even tho she can one shot when someone is max infection, she does not have Tier 3 Myers' ridiculous lunge, not to mention a lot of high level players don't bother healing in the first place.
Overall, I think she has a very interesting design and hope complaining about her doesn't result in a Legion-style adjustment.

As long as the plague can simply spray to down people, not cleansing will be used as a counter.
