Old fast vaults
Yes, another topic regarding our beloved fast vaults. Over the years of dead by daylight we've seen several changes to many things. To me, the most controversial change had to be to the fast vault mechanic.
Back in January of this year, the vaults got a momentum change, since then I've seen many complaints about them not working as intended or just plain dogshit. Personally, I can feel the pain, it's astonishing that after 8 months they still haven't fixed how the survivor will clip back to the vault after getting their momentum.
So that moves on to my next question. Why the change? Fast vaults also got a pretty unnessecary nerf when Ghostface got released, this nerf being that a survivor could not initiate a fast vault animation if their model is touching the wall, this eliminated a lot of mindgame potential for survivors, especially at T walls and the shack.
What about the vaults before the momentum change? In my opinion, the vaults from Spirit's patch to Legion's patch were the perfect fast vaults for me, during this time the devs had eliminated a lot of the problems of survivors triggering unintended fast vaults and to be honest, the animation looked a lot better for both male and female survivors, they looked a lot more hurried during the vault, now they half ass pull themselves over.
Just my thought but let me know what you guys think. Are fast vaults fine as they are now? Or should they be reverted?

It was changed around a lot because Survivors could fast vault at angles and overall routes that shouldn't have been possible...
It was overall a headache facing it as a Killer, and the change only just made a lot of loops a bit shorter because they were already too long as is. Nobody wants to get looped around the shack window because you can fast vault the window at any angle...

Vault are the strongest looping mechanic there is. Fast vault are fine, you need a good angle and momentum, with old fast vaults many loops were too safe.

The momentum is the problem, the momentum hurts survivors more than it helps them, I wouldn't mind if they reverted the momentum change but kept the same fast vault requirements as they are now.
Aka have the old fast vault animation but have the requirements now, as in the same angles and distance required to this day, just revert the animation

But the thing is, the angles were still pretty hard to get to fast vault things that normally couldn't be fast vaulted. While I think they should revert any vault changes they made this year, I'd say the momentum change is the biggest thing that should be reverted, vaults just feel so terrible now.

Agreed

If anything windows and vaults are still too strong and could use more nerfs. Definitely not revert to what we had before.

I assume you mean these fast vaults were difficult?
Everyone feel free to watch the video and Express your opinions on these vaults

I highly disagree, fast vaults are already very limited as to what the requirements are and the momentum change is still horrible

Windows can still be abused in their current state to waste way more time than they should be able to.

Cause that wasn't annoying... yeah... totally not...

Yeah, not everyone knew how to do these though thats the thing. You can also still do a lot of these but you just have to have tighter angles now.
Nerfing vaults was something really nobody asked for until it actually got nerfed then people started acting like it was a problem.

I never said they weren't annoying, I can be quite biased on opinions when I play killers, but the biggest problem for me isnt the requirements, rather the momentum change. There have been several cases where I question on my own screen how I hit a survivor after they fast vaulted.

Out of this video that I linked, the mother's dwelling one I think is the only impossible one to do now (the bottom floor window, the top floor one is still fairly easy to perform).
I agree that these fast vaults were the difference between survivor skill levels, but to be fair, it doesn't matter if it takes skill or not, it was still an unintended and unfair mechanic.
I'd prefer the fast vault animation from that video to come back and remove the momentum but keep the requirements as they are the same

Mainly the Infinites of Misery one?

There's that one but many more as well.
Their issue is also related to poor map design though so if the maps were reworked properly a window change might not be necessary.

It's fairly easy actually, you either
A.) Bait the Vault if its at the T-Wall & L-Wall with mind-games.
B.) You can double back around the shack pallet now since the only way to fast vault that window now is to go inside the shack, you can't just do magic man angles anymore outside and fast vault out there anymore.
Or C.) Can't hit them at all because it's a loop until you catch up to them (Because window loops from a dead era of DBD still exist like Wretched Shop, or Iron-Works)
Many different options besides those three points, but in regard to the momentum change... the momentum change didn't do anything besides making already pre-established infinites from like I said... a dead era of DBD a lot shorter than they need to be. You can still effectively use windows with the momentum change, I've literally PHYSICALLY seen SWFs do this at the shack tile and other such tiles.
The momentum change didn't really do anything to stop a Survivor from using window vaults, it just made it impossible for people to do exactly what they're doing in that video. Fast vaulting by sliding into the window like we're on a ice rink...
Edit
Nevermind...

I guess... close this post now cause... you know... I don't know how this works, i'll just move on after this comment.

My only problem is medium vaults, theyre literally death sentence whenever you do one.
