Why Should I Wiggle?

Zixology
Zixology Member Posts: 1,062

No seriously. Why even bother?

Hooks spawn 5 meters away from each other. 30% of killers run Iron Grasp for some reason. Body blocking is pointless since Mad Grit exists.

Honestly, just remove the wiggle mechanic already. It's worthless.

It at least keeps you out of the basement if you go down away from it, which is helpful.

Probably so you don't get taken to the basement every time or held hostage. Just an idea :)

The wiggle mechanic is mostly intended to prevent the killer from just taking you to the basement every time. It's not supposed to be a reliable escape from all downs.

For everyone saying "basement", that would actually be a GOOD thing.

Killer would waste more time that way.

They need to adjust the wiggle a bit though in my opinion. It's actually too easy to get to the basement on many maps. I have had killers bring me to the basement from two tiles away even though I was wiggling the heck out of it. And that's without Iron Grasp and Agitation.

Killer who actually abuse these two perks will get basement games every game.

Given how close hooks are to everywhere in this game the wiggle needs a little adjustment.

And it will very likely get you and your teammates killed. A killer's ability to protect the basement far outweighs the time they may spend carrying a survivor there. If you suicide to prevent the other survivors from dying trying to save you, then the killer just got a survivor out of the game before their time, which is also a huge gain for them.

This past weekend, I watched as many matches went from fine to a complete loss starting with one basement hook.

Hooks doesnt spawn 5 meters each other and somtimes you dont even have a hook in a entire corner of a map, for an example in fractuated cowshed, sometimes there is no basement at the cowshed and NO hook in this entire place. And there are alot more places like that. The "improved hookspawn" system is actually still not good.

During one of the streams they said that it's supposed to give survivors a little hope but like the end-game collapse, it typically feels hopeless and pointless. Even with boil over, wiggle isn't that good.

Stops the killer getting you to a tactically positioned hook. In the basement, next to someone else who's hooked, in the center of a 3 gen etc.

As many others have said, wiggle is the only thing between you and the basement.

The moment you take it away, there will be an army of Leatherfaces squealing and revving their chainsaws with glee. The new meta will become "just let them die".

Beating a dead horse here, but yeah just so you dont end up being carried to a basement. Anytime a surviver gives up the wiggle. I dont care if I'm on the other side of the map. You going to the basement.

Because if you arent going to die there, the person who comes save you is. And sometimes Im losing horribly and 1 single hook in the basement can lead to 4k.

1: I rarely see Iron Grasp

2: I never see Mad Grit

3: If you don't wiggle you're going to basement

4: Wiggle isn't meant to be an escape option but rather so that the killer cannot (literally) hold you hostage. Sure you can sometimes escape by wiggling but it was never intended to be a viable escape option.

To not go immediately to the basement...or the Killer carry you around, super baiting other Survivors to help you "wiggle off" the Killer's shoulder....when in fact you're doing nothing...

Honestly I don't even know why we press a key. They could make it an automatic action and it wouldn't change much.

The elephant in the room, because if you removed wiggling, the killer could just carry you forever. If you ever got downed, you would be guaranteed to die. They could just stare at a corner and wait for the EGC.

But also because if you couldn't wiggle, you'd get put in the basement against Leatherface every time.

As to why you should, because you have a chance to escape. I've had a bunch of times where I've managed to wiggle because someone jumped in front at the last second and took a hit. You don't want to be that guy that doesn't wiggle when someone takes a hit for you.

Well if you don't wiggle as the last survivor I sometimes take pity.

    Auto-wiggle would dissolve such pity.

It gives you more control. A neat little bit of tech you can do is stand above the basement stairs (with the stairs on your left) if you don't think you'll make it to the hook. If the survivor isn't running balanced landing, they'll fall and stagger, allowing you to mostly recover from the stun by the time they get back to the top. The survivor can counter that by not wiggling out. That forces the killer to either keep moving, or sit there forever as generators pop off. Making it automatic wouldn't allow you to stop wiggling until the killer moves.

It's a bit of a niche example, but there's a few places where it can come in handy.

If escape means so little to you please put yourself onto the hook next time. I'm not young anymore and your four butts are hurting my shoulders and back! ^.^

If I made it to the stairs and you aren't wiggling...why would I not hook you to the basement ?

Also, I was talking from a survivor pov. Idk if you got that since you gave me a killer example.

I can escape don't you even worry.

There'd be no reason not to. If they aren't wiggling.

If they are and you don't think you can make it, then you would do this. This used to be especially popular back when DS activated at 35%. You would quickly run over to a drop and keep your left side up against it just in case. If they did have DS, they would fall, stagger, and get downed again.

(You could also juggle the obsession over to the stairs if they were close.)

Point being, if you're the survivor in that situation and the killer does that, you'd want to stop wiggling. Either they stand there forever waiting for you to wiggle or they move so you don't stagger.

Please no. Killers are already playing against time, making it a little more likely to escape the killer's grasp wouldn't be good in my opinion, since it can waste so much time for the killer if someone manages to escape the killers grasp, time the killer doesn't have.

Something def needs addressing because i think that perks like Boil Over don't help that you almost never wiggle out on normal circumstances, makes little sense to me

just dont and see how it plays out for you.

In all honesty this is a pretty bad habit. Always just wiggle, it makes it harder for the killer to hook you normally, stops them from basement hooking you early when they normally couldn't, and if there are teammates willing to help save you from being hooked via bodyblocking and taking hits you're screwing them over too (while it is rare it does happen occasionally).

Exactly, and the same applies to second hook stage. I get they want immersion, but my dam keyboard is more important. Pressing those keys isn't had and sometimes you just die on second hook stage due to a lag spikes anyways if the killers got bad internet. I'm all for an automatic struggle on both, I don't need no killers pity either, if they want to let one go they will do so regardless of this implementation.

This will also stop people from just dying on hook to derank.

Killer can press drop...forcing you out of their arms....

  • phantasmal

Well, except that killer can just drop a survivor to force a wiggling out. Not wiggling is not really a counter to that scenario.
