Apparently chasing a survivor near the hook = camping

Played a match this afternoon on Xbox against a couple of two stacks. One SWF played Haddonfield, the other Coldwind. We got Rotten Fields. I’m Demogorgon.

I hook a Blendette and a Dwight starts a chase at the jungle gym right by the hook. This potato on the hook messages me while I am chasing the Dwight and complains that I am camping and calling me some naughty names. So I ignored Dwight and beat her on the hook until she dies. The SWF buddy was a Meg with a flashlight, she spams the light and gets downed then quits out.

They start spamming with invites and messages about camping. Like, how deep does survivor entitlement go with some people that you can see me literally chasing someone else near the hook and you’re still going to complain about camping? Why wouldn’t you be angry at the obvious problem, Dwight?

Some players always put the blame on the killer, no matter who made the mistake. Of course, not all players are like that.

If I hook someone and I immediately see scratch marks in the area, I'm not leaving. I'm not a face camper, but that's objectively the right play in that circumstance, when you absolutely know someone is around the corner and itching to do a risky save. Don't blame the killer in that case, blame your teammates for making stupid plays right next to the hook.

I have had a few games here and there where it's practically a conga line of stand-up hook-divers rushing in, and inevitably getting downed and hooked over and over, just taking turns. They get so mad at me in chat, but it's their own fault that it happened. If there's a parade of you doing it over and over, you've most likely doomed someone, because it gives the killer a growing incentive to stick by the hook. The killer's goal is to be where the active survivors are.

Wait for the killer to leave the hook before you head in for a rescue. Or if you are gonna hang around immediately upon hook, at least do yourself (and your teammate) a favor and don't leave scratch marks that the killer is gonna see.

People always cry. I had a game as plague running pop and play with your food. Put a guy on the hook and the nearby obsession immediately unhooks. I hit the obsession and gain my pwyf stack and ignore the guy that just got unhooked. Run back to hit the gen that he was originally on. The guy ran straight back with me, but he ran through the school and I went around it. I downed him because he committed to the gen even though it was maybe 50% completed. I popped the gen and then hooked the guy a second time. Post game- "you tunneled". Sure.

Also, as a survivor I run an unhook build (BT/WGLF). I admittedly go for some riskier saves but generally try to take the agro. It amazes me though when people complain about camping/tunneling when people literally unhook in the killers face. If your risky unhook gets someone in trouble that's on you as a survivor. Or of you were the guy that got farmed by your survivor buddy, give them post game hate. Why blame the killer? Sure they can slug or just take it easy, but they don't have to either.

Killers can be turds as well. This isn't a survivor vs killer post. But I think in these cases and with the amount of second chance perks that exist, many survivors feel invincible and when their sub-optimal risky play bites them in the butt, they'd rather cry than look back and admit/correct mistakes.

I don't think it means what they think it means...

    But that isn't camping.

I do not understand survivors sometimes. I played as Pig last night. I didn't hook anyone twice in a row. I didn't purposefully go after anyone with an RBT. If I ran across someone who was recently unhooked, I'd just hit them once and leave them slugged. When the first survivor died, all four were dead on hook; no one was taken out early.

After the match, I got called a garbage killer for "tunneling and slugging." What the hell is the definition of tunneling in this circumstance?? I can't figure it out.

well, you see... you played killer........ therefore youre a tunneler :P

seriously though i dont get it either. i feel like half the time they just throw out "insults" they've heard of or gotten without knowing the meaning.

Yeah, I don't think they really understand the things they say or complain about. Complaining that I slugged them? The other choices were 1. hook them, or 2. let them go on their merry way despite them running right in front of me. If they're already calling me a tunneler, they must think I'm actually supposed to do the second one... all the facepalms in the world wouldn't fully express how I feel about that. You think they'd be happy I gave them a second chance at life and didn't just hook them, but no, that's not enough.

I have yet to be called a camper for chasing people around a hook, but I expect that's in my future at some point; I can't escape that fate forever. I have been accused of camping the gens, though, so there's that gem.

    Where to begin...😲

First off, Pig? Really? One she can remove her teror radius at will and two she can kill you remotely with no counter.

You openly admit to hitting a freshly unhooked survivor.

A: You were close enough to the hook to see the rescue and/or not giving enough time for the survivor to heal. Borderline camping, IMO. 😡

B: You admit to slugging the poor survivor right after being unhooked and wearing a RBT! Don't you think they are going through enough at that moment? You Monster.

LASTLY you straight up Murdered one of them and Attempted Murder, at the very least, the other three!

I'd hate to know what addons you were running. If I could guess by everything else you've done, that Murder charge would be in the 1st degree easily.

Honestly, you know, being on the same map as a Survivor is pretty toxic and takes no skill ggez baby killer xD

lol nah, I always left the hook and gave them free unhooks. They were never freshly unhooked; it was usually a hook or two later, but still too soon to re-hook them, imo; I was trying to cycle through them as best I could. I don't think I ever bothered crouching; it's too hard to see over the grass.

I played without add-ons. My perks were Beast of Prey, Distressing, BBQ, and Whispers.

I did get a perfect game: 8k in every category. That was pretty awesome.

Thank you, your post made me laugh. It does worry me that might actually be how some survivors think, though. o_0

Haha...that's LITERALLY my response to survivors who accuse me of tunneling. "You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it does." :)

That's probably because they only play survivor and don't know what the game looks like from a killer's perspective.

    @Well_Placed_HexTotem

Some people just want to complain. If you're not a killer they can bully, they'll complain. Play as you like and ignore them. They hate that the most.

Excerpt from the Survivors Rulebook for Killers, Rule No. 4

Camping - Defined circumstances: Camping occurs when the killer exists on the map after hooking a survivor.

Just ignore. Entitled survivors think you should follow their made up rules. Remember to go stand in a corner and let all survivors escape

Blame the fool who decided to loop the killer near the hook. When I get chased and someone is hooked nearby, I try to lead the killer as far away as possible.

Nice to know I'm not the only one regularly running farming builds. I used to run TotH instead of Beast of Prey, but survivors would go hardcore at the dulls and hex totem once they realized it was in play, and I'd become distracted trying to protect it.

I've gotten so used to Whispers, I feel partially blind without it. Knowing when not to waste time in an area of a map is just invaluable to me.

I pretty much hobble myself with how fair I try to play, so if survivors lose to me with my lack of slow-the-game-down perks, they should really feel embarrassed lol. But yeah, it's satisfying to do well and no one can accuse me of relying on Ruin or NOED or some add-on. Since they can't accuse me of any of that, I guess I shouldn't be surprised someone finally accused me of something more formless like "tunneling."

Wait, wow, you play Clown? I don't see people say that very often.

These threads are tiresome, no matter if it's the killer or survivor posting them.

Yes, we get it. Lots of people are not very self-aware.
