I'd suggest just keep playing her, that what I did. First you might want to try using her power just for traveling, as apposed to during a chase. I'd still try it but stop if it's making you lose them.

Try and phase to a survivor after they've already been injured so you can use the sound to keep track of them, also look for moving grass and scratch marks. Scratchmarks are delayed a bit so don't rely on them, just use them to know where you're going.

Try and phase once survivors have lost sight of you, so they might keep running assuming you're on the move instead of immediately trying to juke your phase.

If you want to fake at loops, don't use your power till they make a move, if they start walking away, either just walk and hit them or phase and hit them. If they just continue to stand there, phase and go for the hit. Sometime's they'll book it to the next loop, either chase them regulatory or catch up and attempt a hit in phase. This however more opens them up to a juke and avoid your phasing.

Also, the Spirit stands still when vaulting windows. Use this to either stand at a window and phase around the direction they're going, or vault it. They usually have to guess.

You can try phasing around the first couple of times, then actually vault it and you could catch them off guard.

Must have perks for me are at least 1 tracking perk and at least 1 game slowing perk, otherwise, a good spirit can use almost anything they want without worry.

    I prefer Whispers/Thrill Tremors and Thana/Pop/Dying Light

Do you have good Headphones? Yes? Congratulations, you are a successful Spirit Main from now on.

Have a decent headphone and use it to hear their injured noises.

Oh man.... why didnt I think about getting a nice pair of headphones when I wanted to git gud at any other game.... I didnt realize that headphones were the ultimate answer ascending my skill level.

To all those saying headphones are the answer.

Not for other games. And not for DBD in general. For Spirit Headphones are enough. It is surprisingly easy to do well with Spirit, considering how strong she is.

Have a good pair of headphones and open up your ears. Now you win as Spirit.

How is it that way though?..... if a killer is having trouble with lunge distance or having trouble hiding red glow, playing pallets effectively a new "good pair of headphones just isnt going to boost your skill to effective level play you need... that just doesnt make sense. That's like saying "get a better keyboard and you'll be better at your office job because you'll type faster" or "get this brand of controller and you'll have faster reaction time on COD or overwatch"

That just doesnt make sense at all

You can't hear survivors injured noises without headphones. That's why people say use headphones, the chase is pretty much over when you get the first hit (unless they have iron will)

Spirit doesn’t need to hide her red glow nor does she need to moonwalk at pallets. She can easily phase and catch survivors. If you can hear them well then you’re pretty solid.

Spirit is not a typical M1 killer where you have to play pallets and try to outplay the survivor. You play her similar to Nurse. If you’re playing pallets and moonwalking the same way you would a killer like Leatherface then you’re playing Spirit wrong.

You dont need to do the stuff that other Killers have to do. You dont need to learn how to play structures, because you can just follow the Survivor while being invisible.

Pallets? Just stand there. If the Survivor vaults it, hit him. If he moves, phasewalk behind him. A normal M1 Killer would need to break the Pallet (if its a safe one, obviously), allowing the Survivor to get Distance.

A M1 Killer would need to hide his Red Glow. You dont need to do that with Spirit, you are invisible.

Spirit is forced to not use her power with a cooldown that lasts for 15 seconds compared to 5 seconds, not even a full 5 seconds of movement since the power starts to be used as soon as you start to charge it.... 15 seconds is almost 1/4th of a gen, meaning the time outside of phase is just as critical and requires the basics.... if you're thinking any noob can just hop on spirit an 4k because they have expensive electronics on their heads you're sadly mistaking.... the noobies dont even know how to counter 360.

And if you get hit that's your own fault... spirit is a killer who goes against the no heal meta... make her work for the first hit.....even wasting 20 seconds is alot of time in this game....

Who uses Spirits entire power in a chase though? You have a 15 second cooldown IF you’re constantly using her entire power bar. Any competent Spirit player isn’t going to use her entire power bar if they don’t need to.

Even without her power she can make survivors think she does by just standing still. They don’t know when she is or isn’t phasing. She’s still a 110% MS killers. She’s not helpless without her power like Nurse.

Spirit is just basic tracking and listening for injured moans and footsteps. She isn’t a complicated killer to learn.

Plus her add-ons boost her viability. Pair the Yakukoye Amulet with the Wakazashi Saya and tell me the outcome. A monkey can win with those add-ons.

They have always been the answer noob. Have you never played a competitive shooter and tracked off footsteps or reloads etc? It's night and day. If you compare evenly matched players the one with better sound quality and ability to track off it better wins. I learned this ages ago on console. It really doesn't take a genius to understand sound tracking in video games has become a staple.

Even if you dont use all her power she still is forced to wait longer then she used her phasewalk. I dont understand how survivors who have gone against the spirit still fall for the stand still tech.... and that's my point exactly a player needs to know the basics of playing the game and play at an above average skill level to catch someone at 110% ms when outside of phasewalk. Every killer has their own broken combos of addons mate, spirits are not as broken as people feel... she still requires 2 hits each time and the only 1 shot potential that she can get (which is gen grabber) can be denied...

Headphones are not going to make you react faster in a shooter or be more accurate, that's all game time. Headphones will enhance the gameplay experience making it more enjoyable to listen to the gun fire etc... allowing you to be more immersive in the game..... in DBD yes sound is more crucial for hunting/tracking but it's not going to boost the skill of a player to MLG status like some players are making it out to be.....

Saying "oh just buy a 200$ pair of headphones and you git gud" is like me saying "I just have to buy all these tools and I'm a certified mechanic" ... it doesnt make sense.

Yeah, I'm not saying that you can get 4ks your first time playing killer as spirit or something. If you know how to play killer in general and you understand how the game works, you are going to learn spirit pretty easily.

I agree, but I can't agree with you on spirit being hard to play. In a sense she is easier because you ignore a majority of mechanics other killers can't. Her and Nurse are these exceptions in my opinions.

Because some people are potatoes and they fall for Spirits “MiNdGaMeS”

Of course you’re not going to instantly pick up a killer and learn them right off the bat. Spirit isn’t a “noob friendly” killer to learn because she requires tracking which most newer players aren’t great with. She isn’t the best killer to start with.

She isn’t very hard to learn though. It won’t take incredibly long to be good with her especially if you have good headphones.

Spirit’s purple add-ons are stupidly strong. She is literally as strong as Nurse because she can have map control AND pressure in a chase. I’m not saying they need a nerf (they do not). I’m just stating the obvious that they are probably the strongest add-ons in the game. Spirit is right up there with Nurse and Huntress of VERY powerful add-ons.

I can agree she is not the most difficult to play as but she is not noobie friendly by any means like @MegMain98 stated.

I really like how this convo turned more constructive the the typical bickering that happens....

Some of her addons are strong AF for sure.
