Can we be Real for a moment?
Ive been reading post after post about "cashgrab" and "moneysink" and "ptw" , Let be real for just a moment and get our heads out of our collective tails .
If you think for one sec that BVHR isnt about making money , then you seriously need a reality check . Any and all game companies out there are a business , the first rule and most important , make money or go under … If this was a subscription based game then I might question the greed level involved behind some decisions , but it is not . So rather then having 100k people paying them a monthly fee of $15 , they have to create new ideas to generate that cash flow .
So before you condemn a idea they have based off of charges , ask yourself one question , after buying the game , how much have to paid per month to keep playing . If you average over $15 a month for each month they great and complain , but if you haven't then ask yourself what room do you have to complain .
There is a reason a lot of games have had a sub base or a battle pass or ptw features , they have to have money to pay their employees , the people who help make the new killers , who have the ideas for new exciting things to come , the people who have to slug away at the bugs and balance changes , and then the magicians that you see in streams that say here is what im going to do for you , all the while everyone else is behind the sceens doing the real magic .
In the end any game online has a cost overhead just to maintain service , not to mention development and progressing the game . if you expect a one time charge for a game then don't expect it to be a supported online game unless you are prepaired for micro transaction , subscriptions , battle passes and so on .
So please stop complaining about them looking for new ways to make money . I can only imagin some of you visiting a fast food restaurant and ordering a burger and then getting it and going where is my fries ? Being told that you would have to pay for fries you look as say they cost extra ??? this is soo unfair , its ptw ...
PS , I have to remind myself of these things as well from time to time … we all slip

I have invested quite of bit of cash and I am glad I did. They keep making the game better.

I have all the dlc's myself , but I don't buy the cosmetics . so I have invested a bit , but clearly not as much as some have or as little

Normally, yes. But the game alone is 20-30$ and over 100$ worth of DLC, which you need too have a chance against survivors past rank 10, and this doesn't even include the cosmetics. If DLC's actually felt like extra content and not needed content then sure, but 10$ every month for such an already expensive game is greedy.

Are you kidding? First of all, the "Big Three" are Spirit, Nurse, and Billy. Spirit can be bought with shards, which you get for playing the game. On top of that, the Shrine exists for a reason. Let's look at the meta perks: Ruin (Free), Enduring (Free), BBQ (Shrine), Spirit Fury (Shrine or buy Spirit with shards). I'm stating the typical build I see suggested on killers (maybe Whispers but that's base game).
You do not NEED the DLC to beat rank 10's or under. The shrine exists for a reason and anyways 2 of the meta perks are free, you just have to level the killers up. On top of that, 2 of the top 3 killers are free, and the 3rd isn't even licensed so she can be bought with the FREE CURRENCY in the game.
I'm not blaming you for buying the DLC or anything but don't complain that you "need" it because you know that's B.S.

The most successful online games out there are almost all subscription based in wich you pay $60 for the game $15 a month and they still have cosmetics pets and so on to buy in micro transactions , and every expansion for them are another $60 not counting the monthly . Now granted they are hosting millions of players but they also have a lot more devs and so on .
I have played this game just fine without certain killers , actualy it wasn't until the sale with Stranger things that I bought ash , plague , ghostface , and legion dlc's along with the stranger things and I think it all cost me about $25 . The game can be played fine without the dlc's you just have to watch the shrine for perks you cant earn from leveling a killer or survivor you don't have . And its always best to wait for a sale , seems like they run them about every month at around 50% off . That isn't saying don't support the devs , its just being a smart consumer .

You do though. yes, you can buy the characters with in game curreny, but that doesn't mean the game doesn't incentives you too buy them. BBQ, Ruin, Spirit Fury, Pop Goes, Dying Light, and Monitor are all really strong perks for killers, and all you need too buy a character for. How realistic is it to spend months grinding out shards too get these killers, and then spend MORE time grinding them out? It isn't, the game incentives you too buy them so the grind is lower.
Plus, what if someone doesn't like playing the "Big Three?" If they are going too play a weak killer then they will def need the strongest perks possible, which means a lot of money needs to be spent just to have the best chance against them.

Whether or not you buy the DLC's, it doesn't change the fact that it IS over 100$ of DLC's. Even if you waited for a sale, it will still cost you a pretty penny. And it still doesn't include the Cosmetic shop.

It does not take months to grind out shards. Even if you play a few games a day eventually you're getting 300 per lvl. On top of that, Ruin and BBQ were in the same shrine at one point. If you don't wanna spend money then it's your job to keep an eye on the weekly shrines. I brought up the big three because that's what people like to say is the most viable at red ranks. Of course you don't need to play them. And you're saying you need these perks to play at high ranks but that's not true either. There are people who run completely different builds because they play completely different playstyles. Adapt and overcome.

Ill give you one of my biggest gripes about games like this and the communities . Its the streamers . If you see any "successful" dbd streamer and they don't have every single killer and every single survivor and the customizations then I say they are failing the devs and the community in general .
First is they class themselves a dbd streamer then they are getting paid to play this and as such should be the one supporting it the most by buying everything they can with the funds that they get for playing it . This isn't mentioning that most of the bigger names get free stuff from the devs to begin with , its a win/win for both sides , promotion of stream and streamer gets free dlc's for themselves and to give away , good marketing imho . But those same streamers getting tipped and add revenue should be still supporting the game keeping their job alive by reinvesting in cosmetics and things people don't "need" .
Now that is my biggest gripe with the games monetary cosmetics .
Don't get me wrong , if someone is a new streamer or new to the game that is a different story . But if you call yourself a DbD Streamer , then you should be supporting the game more then anyone else .

I do not see this as a Cashgrab, I see it as a way to expand the universe(and keep the players in the game) I am very intrigued in the Lore, I love to read, and of course the cosmetics in my case are a plus. simply for art and writing is worth the pay.

If you buy all the dlc's at once then yes it does cost a fair amount even on a sale . but you dont need to buy them , or even all at once . There are plenty of dlcs that have almost useless perks in them . But even so , if you jump into a long running game of any type and want to play catchup it is always going to cost more doing it in a lump then those who have been with it for the years its been running .
you seem to be speaking about coming into the game as of recently and talking about perks like there is only one option , there is the slow road and the fast , fast always costs in every game . In your previous post I think BBQ was the only perk listed from licensed killers , so everything else is earnable through shrine or shards . I average maybe 2 or three 3hrs in a day to play , some not even that and I do just fine grinding . If you are a weekend warrior then I can see why it may look like you "need" to buy , but its not a "need" , its more about not being able to wait .

My only gripe is how over priced the cosmetics are. $10 for a single outfit is nuts.

THANK YOU

I agree , its why I dont buy them . Now if they gave ghostface a Guy Fawkes mask I think I would have too , but short of that I dont bother .
