Please reconsider...
Launching the event skins 2 weeks before you can Even earn them. Ontop of the short period of time the event lasts. Smells like cashgrab Even if it isn’t intended that Way.
BHVR do something about this. Remove the skins until the event starts or preferably just start it tomorrow like everyone expected. Or do nothing and have major part of the community displeased.

Every event skin has been time limited and its never been a cash grab. The only reason they add them to the store is people always complained after the past events when they couldn't play and earn then.
It has also allowed them to hire more artists/designers to give us more options than just the normal 2 pieces which weren't even full outfits.
As for them being in the PTB it allows people not only to test them but to see which ones they want to grind for. I actually like this idea as some pick one they like but then wish they had chose another instead.
No matter what they do part of the community will act displeased due to time frame, no the killer or survivor they wanted, event wasn't that fun for them etc. It has happened with every event so far I don't see this being any different.

How is it a cash grab... other then BHVR releasing some new cosmetics?
You don't have to buy them and you can wait for the event to get the 6 you want. Nobody is forcing you to buy them now. Some people might want more than 6 pieces. Why not put them up now? Cash in on the event hype.
Why do you think they made so many outfits? Just to sit on them till after Halloween?
I know what it is....
You don't want to buy any... So you are jealous there are some who are buying them. You don't want to see them in the game, until you got yours.
I see.

Why do you care if they're available? Makes no sense
1 -
they already released the event skins for the shop? wow, no words...

also where the ######### is the feng and doctor skin

You said it yourself «cashing in on the event hype». And still Wonder Why someone might see it as a cash grab.
They are basically saying «Hey! We are gonna have this fun thing in two weeks with cool stuff, But if you do anything other than play tirellesly you won’t get much. And if you have time NOW you can have some. If you give is money that is».
1 -
@Karltastisk so? That is what I don't understand why it would even be an issue.
There are some who won't even be able to play the event, so why not sell them to those people now? What does it matter? They buy it now, or buy it in 2 weeks?
You can't earn enough serum to even get all the pieces... so some people might end up buying the rest if they want to. So again... What does it matter if they get it now, or in 2 weeks?
Do you have an issue with impulse buying? That would be the only thing they are hoping for... If someone to buy it before they change their mind.
Those who aren't going to buy them in 2 weeks, won't be buying them now. So why can't they just release the cosmetics into the store now?
I don't get it. It doesn't effect whether you are going to buy them now or in 2 weeks, unless you can't control yourself financially.

For some reason, this is what came to my mind when I read this post.
"BHVR! We beg you to reconsider!"
"'Kay."
(All Halloween cosmetics become premium Rift rewards)
"But you said you'd reconsider!"
"We did. We were going to make the cosmetics obtainable for free by doing the event."
"But why did you-"
"We reconsidered."

Well that's on the players for wanting them after the event not the devs for giving them that option.
They used to say "Hey were are going to have this cool timed event where you can earn exclusive items and you have to play or will never get them" would that be more preferable so if you couldn't play you missed out?

It's a good way to advertise the skins before the event.
As I already know which ones I'm getting with serum and which I'm buying I can just buy them now and show them off. DBD is a game created with love and passion no other game has this much long term support and open communication with it's player base. Be thankful.
And at the end of the day if you want DBD to live on indefinitely then the devs need funding. Period.
Do I agree with every single monetary decision the devs have made? HELL NO. But, I understand why they were made. And I accept them becausd they've been really good to us fans.
Even the Rift of which I was one of the biggest skeptics is done way way more fairly than I thought it would be. I'm so used to other companies abusing my trust that I was fearful that this would be the same. But, it isn't. Behavior did it right. I've gone from dreading the Rift to being excited for it. Ten bucks a month (assuming you can't complete the track) isn't expensive. On top of the shear amount of stuff you get that money.
As for the HB stuff. The HB stuff is consistently (imho) the best stuff cosmetically. There is a shitload of detail on the cosmetics. And the syringe noise is sickly satisfying.

Actually yes. Because those lasted atleast 2 weeks/weekends. And no money was involved.

I see you misread my original post. I want them to not make this an cashgrab event. They have cut down the duration from last year and are selling the event prizes beforehand. Making this less about the event and more about making money. And preying on the impatient and people with less time than full time gamers.
Make it an event! Not an excuse to SELL cosmetics.

I'll never understand why people would get ticked off because a company is trying to make some money. They aren't forcing you to buy their products, and them selling them early has no bearing on the event itself. They also aren't doing anything dishonest.
IMO, I like the way they do this event. We can earn up to 6 pieces... and choose which ones you want from a good size collection spread across multiple characters.
Not like in the past, where you could earn an exclusive.. for a character you never played.

This one lasts 10 days and you can earn the same type of skins as last year and youbfet more for free than before is involved unless you "chose" to buy some.
They now give 6 pieces for who you wish fo free instead of the old 2 pieces and some still look at it like they are being scammed.
I just don't understand that mentality when they give more for free and you are not forced to buy anymore it is a choice you alone decide to make.

Its not more for free. Its the same as last year in what you can get for free, but you have alot less time to do it.
0 -
@Karltastisk are you sure about it being less time?
Last years got extended because the event was buggy. You were forced to play both sides to earn enough serum, which blew killer queues through the roof.
They only allowed you 3 pieces at first, then up'ed it to 6 because of the public outcry of releasing what 12 pieces and you were only allowed to get 3 max.
--
Last years felt so long because of the amount of issues and changes that were done to it while it was running.

Last year started 18 october. And ended 1st of november, But was extended trough the weekend in november because of the queue you mentioned.

thursday october 18th-4th/5th november sunday/monday. Almost double compared to this year.

Official source with start and end date of the 2018 event: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/26567/the-hallowed-blight-event-changes/p1?new=1
The event will be live from October 19th to November 2nd.
I couldn't immediately find anything regarding an extension, it's possible that is already included in the post I linked above.
1 -
yes you are correct i was of by 1 day, But it still got extended and lasted for the same amount of time i mentioned.

The official announcement for the 2019 event:
Which corrobates your original claim that there is less time for this event.
See above. @Karltastisk is correct.

Less time means little since its all about how easy they are to get. Remember the last one you had to do pustuals and fill vials now it's just gens so its relative to what needs done.
They are free if you can play over the period as you do tour normal objective and you can chose a skin no money has to change hands.
In reality they don't have to give anything away for any event but they do and people still complain it's not enough or they don't have the time.
So I guess they are damned if they do and damned if they don't as some are just not thankful for what they can get just what they feel they can't.

It's not even necessarily about needing more time to grind the stuff, but it'd be nice to have longer just to enjoy the event itself... it's fun to have new stuff in the game, Halloween is my favorite holiday, and it's unfortunate that a horror game doesn't take full advantage of October's connotation with horror.
3 -
I wonder if given the opportunity you would grab cash? I think most of us would. I guess when you aren't the one grabbing cash you disagree with it?

It has always been the same with any event.
Take the 2017 one which ran from 26th to the 1st that was shorter than this but people did it.
2018 was longer 14 days but it was second objective they addes and you could only get so much per trial and the games could take longer if people tried and didn't suicide after filling a vial which hurt both sets of players.
This one like I said no longer has the second objective so its 4 days shorter to 10 like the 2017 one.
It's relative to how long it takes and no one know the finer details but I can see it like the past ones where you play the offering and for each gen/hook done you get rewarded. It's just how many gens or hooks you need to play for each piece that is the only relevant factor.

Like I said, it's not necessarily about earning/grinding out the cosmetics, it's just about getting to have the game be Halloweeny for longer. To me, more Halloween = better. More horror movies, more Halloween decorations in stores, more themed stuff in general. That a horror game doesn't take full advantage of October just makes me sad.

@Karltastisk Doesn't really matter though. If it is still structured the way it was from last year, you can play survivor to get all your vials pretty easily. I still had all my 6 pieces way before the event ended. It probably will only take about 5 or 6 nights to do if you are playing only a few hours each night.
@Madjura yeah i don't really care to be honest. The time frame isn't that big of a deal, since you can play one side and get all the vials really easy.
The only issue I found with the event was once you got all your vials, you couldn't get anymore bonus points for the event. Basically once you got all your vials the event was over for you.
This made it harder for those later on in the event, since people would stop putting out the offering because they couldn't participate anymore.
