I thought SFW was matched by highest rank now?
So recently I've been getting a lot of SFW groups, mainly because they play very sloppily but still manage to get out. (Almost like voice comms give a very distinct advantage in this game). And I've noticed the groups are WAY higher than they should be... And a little baby survivor on the side.
I thought the matchmaking was changed (not fixed, but changed) to group sfw by the highest average rank.
Currently, I'm sitting at rank 10-9. And every match I've gone against so far has been purples. Not 8-7 purples, more so 6-5, practically red ranks (they probably would be if they didnt DC so often). And what's funny is that sometimes they don't even have a brown/yellow rank, it's all purple ranks.
So please tell me something, why am I getting paired with people far better or far worse than me? In general. Not even SFW, just give me my rank.
Ugh. On a high note, I'm really getting into Hag. c: I dont have many good perks for her but I can at least safety pip regularly (I found that out after facing the purple SWF's... Legit I had a game where I was downing them so fast that I got decisived three times... After slugging all of them.)

If a match of the same rank is not available, the system will gradually expand the acceptable range until it finds a match. This has a hard limit of 6 ranks above or below your rank.

To my understanding, people 6 levels above and below you will end up in your lobby when there arent any other options to be had. (ie, not any survivors in your same rank if not ones much closer to your rank)
Also i read somewhere that as killer before your lobby is made the game is trying to find people to fill it, so when I get a quick lobby i often find its full of rainbow ranks, a full swf team or almost full with high varience in levels.

You can be matched with someone 6 ranks above or below you.
Unless you're really low rank, then there is no threshold.
Rank 1 Survivor in solo queue can play a Rank 7 Killer.

When that happens there is simply no survivor group of your level to fight with.
I.e. -- there just aren't enough survivors playing the game to give appropriate matches to every killer.

this system is awful and needs to be removed. i cant play with any of my new/low rank friends because the queue times are garbage and they have to live with sweat lord rank 1 killers who are using mori and spirit all day. its terrible.

you're just bad at the game, period.
stop blaming it on other players, there is no way to know if you are facing solo or swf teammates, exept getting 4 jeffs with the same cosmetics, for example.
here's my constructive argument: get better at the game.

I've had solo survivor games with people well outside of my rank range. They may not be SWF

The only bad thing here is your post. OP asked a question and your post does nothing to address it, or any other post in this thread.
@StarMoral, how do you check for SWF? Do check their friend list on their Steam profile or something else? When you next encounter such a situation please take a screenshot and post it here (with the names censored). As @AltruismOnly said it might be because of the loosened rank restrictions, or it might be a bug. It will be easier to answer your question if you can provide an example.

OP claims that voice comms give players an advantage, which pisses me off.
I'm tired of people saying that survivors playing together is cheating, the devs have addressed this countless times.

It based on the hightest member of the swf but within 6 ranks. If your rank is 10 you could find survivors up to rank 4.

Yep it's really terrible. They changes it so the 1% toxic swf groups can't bully low ranks anymore, but they forgot there us a huge chunk of players who play with low ranks because well, they are new. The experience for new players it extremely bad now, you can't play with them together to give them a great experience

Ummm, voice comms do give an advantage. Communication in any game gives an advantage.
I never stated it was cheating, in fact voice chat should be implemented. That way we can actually balance around that.

Majority of tge time it's their overtly orgonized playstyle. I go off to do something and they are already on something else. How tru3talent would put it "Optimal".
Funnily enough, one group I presumed WASNT a SWF turned out to be one, after the Nancy disconnected mod chase and the Nea and Ace told me "her game legit crashed".
