DEVS Can you please talk to us about the Rift?
Serious concerns about difficulty and time have been raised. Please talk to us.

what difficulty? the rift works with the XP of devotion, it's literally so easy to level up, including the archives and the rest PLUS 70 days of rift time, you're practically able to finish it in no time, even if you play 5 matches a day

It's the weekend. They are at home.

You don't know what you are talking about and haven't done the math.

I’ve been seeing posts from those on the PTB about ridiculously difficult challenges (ie sacrifice all survivors in basement, get 4 grabs in the same game, catch all 4 survivors in bear traps in 1 match, etc.).
others I’ve read about are very unhealthy for the community (use NOED to sacrifice 2 survivors, for example).
i don’t know about it being related to devotion or not, but these examples rely on a hefty amount of luck, even for master players. Just 1 survivor disconnecting can screw people over for finishing their challenges, and it seems some of the challenges seem designed to encourage disconnects.
to me, all of this combined paints a pretty clear picture that this is designed to prevent the vast majority of people from ever completing all the challenges. (in other words, pay for a battle pass, but don’t expect to earn your auric cells back. Then, as a result, pay again when the next season starts).

Some of them are harder to do, some of them are pretty easy. E.g. I got the Hook 3 people in the Basement using Agitation Daily in my first game. And I would have easily been able to do that every time, so this is basically a free win, even with more Basement Hooks. However, other Challenges are harder (like all Dead in the Basement or to survive without being hooked while using Spine Chill for example). But I guess thats fine.
You progress through the Rift with your Devotion Level, so when you play on a consistent basis, you should be fine. The Archives give you a lot of BPs and will boost your progress.
However, some Challenges are quite unhealthy, this is correct. e.g. grabbing 4 Survivors, I would either need to play Prayer Beads Spirit for that (which I highly dislike) or farm with the Survivors (making the challenge obsolete). Same with some Survivor challenges - I would rather have teammates who do Gens than Teammates who hunt down Totems for their Challenge or loot chests for their Archives.
but, lets not forget - you get all your Auric Cells back if you complete the Rift. Logical that BHVR does not give that away for free. It would not be worth that much for them if everyone just pays 10 Euros one time, and will be fine for the rest of the game. Surely they speculate on players spending more Auric Cells to complete the Rift or to spend Auric Cells, because they did not get the 1000 Cells back. BHVR is a company, afterall.
Furthermore it is meant to be some form of a challenge. But this is the problem of the modern gaming community - games are so easy that it is expected in every game. "Oh you failed? Here, have 200 Level Ups to beat this boss!"... The Challenges should not be "Cleanse one Totem, get a Quadrillion BPs and complete the rift".
And last but not least - just try the Free Track and if you are satisfied with your progress at the end, buy the Rift Pass to get all the Premium Rewards. It is as easy as that.

"You progress through the Rift with your devotion level"
Lol. 1 Rift Fragment for 800xp. ONE. It take 10 for a single Rift tier lol.
1 -
I am well aware. Where is your argument? I dont see any.
1 -
It's 4.2 thousand xp per player level past 50.
It's literally such a small amount lol.
1 -
8k xp for a single tier is not a "small" amount.
Lolololololol
2 -
Not for me.

You are a bad ass.
1 -
Nah just realistic.
1 -
Nah you have SOOO MUCH SKILL dude. We are plebs with jobs and responsibilities and #########. But you can pump 9 hrs a day into DBD I'm very impressed. Has BHVR given you a placard? They should. You are the champ.
1 -
Right because devoting 110 hours into something that expires after 1680 is apparently too hard for you...
0 -
ok to... bring an actual argument here, its around a 100 hour grind, and thats assuming you can complete all the archive challenges, over 70 days.
the math can be seen here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/95165/archive-player-balance/p1
yes im aware they forgot the 600 bonus xp you can earn daily for first match as survivor and killer.
not trying to convince either of you, just trying to make an actual argument so you can understand where hes coming from. if thats achievable to you, then go for it.

How do I upvote a post more than once?
Seriously though, OP, I'm sure they'll get back to us about it. They just need to talk to each other about it and make some decisions as to what they're doing first. Rest assured, they're still going to look at all the feedback and take in on board. They wouldn't be bothering to make surveys and special feedback categories on the forums if they weren't.
But I'm not expecting anything until much closer to the patch's release date, if not in the patch notes on the day itself. That's the next time official communication is scheduled. Any information they give us before that is a bonus, not something we're entitled to.

I understand his argument.
I just don't see why the devs have to cater to people that rarely play their game. The whole reason this game is unbalanced is because of mindsets like this.
0 -
I play every day after work. Lol.
"Rarely" because I'm not some neet who lives on welfare and sits at home all day?
Please kid.
0 -
Then the rift shouldn't be a problem for you.

This isn't about casuals and hardcore players. Most of the people who play this game will play a couple hours a day. They will not be able to finish the pass in the time allowed. You will have to play several hours a day and unless you play this game for a living it will not happen.
This is about money plain and simple. They do not want you to pay just $10, they want you to play $10 plus even more money for the tiers.
2 -
If you believe that you have not done the math nor looked at the challenges.

I think the devs can do very little about the Battle Pass, it's more a set decision from the management.

Depends who you're calling the devs. If you're talking about the programming team, maybe not, but most people, when they talk about the developers, mean Behaviour as a whole. And they have no management when it comes to DBD other than themselves.
