What CONTROLLER would you use to play DbD?
I personally use a Steam controller for the comfort and better accuracy than a average controller

I use a PS4 controller. I'm going to let you in on a (kinda) secret. Check out the link below. It's instructions for setting up "advanced" graphics options that aren't available in the in game options menu.
When you open the file, there is a line for AutoAim (Might be called something slightly different. Not at my PC now.) It is set to "False" by default. Change it to "True" and it will make life a lot easier as killer. It doesn't guarantee hits, but before I changed this setting I used to spin around wildly when striking at survivors in very close range. Not sure why this option isn't in the game menu. Oh, and don't worry. This is just a settings file so changing anything is completely ok.

One more tip. . . Don't forget that you can tweak the controller settings in the steam overlay. You might need to adjust the stick dead zones if you have movement/camera issues. I also found it extremely helpful to lower the sensitivity of the y-axis on the right control stick. Just my personal preference. Steam gives you a lot of granular control over the controller settings. Play around with them and you'll be able to make the controller experience much better.

I play on Xbox 1.

On PC I use a Xbox One controller for survivor. Gives me more control over my movement in general. I tried using a Steam controller, but I cant really get used to it.
Please be careful when altering your files. Its 'use at your own risk'. If you are banned by EAC we cannot unban.

That is a benefit with the Xbox and Ps4 controller. With the Steam controller you have to keep picking your finger up to continue rotating.

It's been stated over and over that the GameUserSettings.ini file is only a settings file and is not checked by EAC. I was weary about it myself at first. If you search for "GameUserSettings.ini" on this forum there are over 130 posts talking about changing settings in this file. It's one of the main ways improve performance on lower end PC's.
@Peanits would it be possible to get dev confirmation on this so that everyone can be on the same page and I'll have a post to refer to when this gets brought up?

Can we get PS4 buttons on PC? Lots of people seem to use PS4 controllers, but all the icons are for Xbox controllers.

Sorry, wasn't trying to say @Inji didn't know what she was talking about. Mainly wanted to get clarification because everytime the topic comes up it starts a back-and-forth over whether this can get you banned or not. I also don't want to inadvertently give advice that might get someone banned.
In researching whether EAC checks .ini files I came across a post on this forum (see link below) from Sep 2018 in which @Peanits stated that the ACM team (BHVR) will not ban people for changing the graphics settings in this file but it could be detected by EAC. I've yet to find anything about people having an issue with EAC. I also understand that BHVR cannot speak for the third party software.
So, is it possible to get confirmation that BHVR will not seek out a ban for turning on AimAssist while using a controller. I would think it exists for use with controllers but isn't activated on PC because majority of the players use k/m. Not trying to be combative. Just want to make sure I'm not doing something that BHVR considers bannable and suggesting it to others. Thanks for your help and thanks for all the hard work you put into this game!
TL;DR Does BHVR specifically (not EAC) consider turning on AimAssist in the GameUserSettings.ini while using a controller on PC to be a bannable offense that gives unfair advantage?
