I now see the power of Dedicated Servers

Been noticing over the last week when I am in a chase that killers are whiffing a lot more than usual. I mean, they attack but misjudge the distance and miss me by a hair as I run away, and I'm not even doing any fancy 360ing or things like that. Like I just run to a window, they attack and miss and I vault.

I didn't pay it much mind and just thought I got lucky, but it's been happening more often lately and it was happening even prior to rank reset, which meant I was going up against red and purple ranks when this was happening, killers who should know better.

I've come to realize that the whiffing is probably a result of the latency killers are experiencing with dedicated servers, something they're not used to. I'm certainly doing a lot better in chases now than I used to, getting away when I should have been downed by all rights.

Gonna take some getting used to if that's it. Someone else posted how it seemed like Survivors were stuck in SB. Not sure. Would be weird if they made maps with lag in mind and now they are broken

Seems like when survivors have lag on their end they just sort of teleport half a meter or so at a time. Makes it real fun to judge a hit when they aren't just in a constant fluid movement.

You know I've found MG to be hilarious on Leatherface. Since he is such a joke, I find a ton of people running up to me to body block or just help however they can. I'm holding a survivor, can't use my chainsaw, I'm just a big yellow target. Oh the horrified sprinting away as they realise I'm what I'm using 😆

Dude. It's like Blood Warden (Bamboozle Requiem) when it works.... It's AMAZING!

Definitely can see this being a thing. Problem is killers will eventually adjust and the difference will fade away. So my advice is enjoy it will it's good!

Yeah I'll take advantage while they're still whiffin'.

In the meantime let's see those Mad Grit Unrelenting builds!

I mean, I honestly don't feel bad because before dedicated servers, I would get hit after I vaulted a window AND took like 2 steps into my running animation and on their end, it was somehow a clean hit.

I've yet to experience any lag when I play as killer

Yeah I noticed that too as a Killer main, sometimes when I am since my 2400 hours pretty sure that I should hit through the window even with a fast vault, I still dont hit, like da hell?

Or when you try to lunge around a corner, on not smoth walls like autohaven walls, you sometimes hit a invisible corner for no reason at all, and that sometimes really sucks. But in the other side it happens for the favor of the killer, I hitted a survivor once around a hooked survivor, I should honestly hit the hooked guy but I somehow hitted the saver.

I honestly haven't noticed any difference really. Dedicated servers are up now for about a week, right?

If so, that's good though. Anything to improve hitboxes is always a good thing.

It's a mixed bag for me. Sometimes servers are amazing, I can pull of 360s and I don't get any stupid hits but other times I get hit so far away that it actually feels worse than the old system.

It's odd. There's almost a lunge cancellation that happens from time to time where you hold M1 to lunge but swing short anyway.

Well, I missed 2 360 hits yesterday. I normally don't miss, maybe once but not a second time. Probably dedicated Servers. But Killers will get used to it and they won't miss.

Yeah, it's like anything else that involves muscle memory. A lot of us have 1000 hrs of muscle memory with lunges amd whatnot. Doesn't mean dedicated servers are bad, just means the timing is different now.

My impression is that the killer still has the highest authority when it comes to hit registration on the dedicated servers.

I played killer on 120 ms ping and it felt like I was the host (except some delay while breaking pallets and generators).

So, I think it is just a coincidence or maybe due to rank reset.

When you try to lag switch as killer, but you are the only person that has bad connection.

Since dedicated servers I've found Bubba to be unplayable because the latency sometimes makes a big enough difference that unless you're directly on top of them you don't catch up to them.

As killer the main thing I notice is I'm getting hit by a lot more pallets a split second before I'm used to it being able to be thrown also. That's the main thing for me.

When I get hillbilly phantom saw twice in a row, and strike the WINDOW instead of the person vaulting through it.

Yeah, that sure is the power of dedicated crapservers

As Billy, 50% of my chainsaw hits are not registered and instead I do the chainsaw attack animation (the hit animation that is) through the air.

So I think some of these whiffs should be hits...

Yeah it's definitely a latency issue. Hopefully BHVR figures out how to do netcode properly some day.

Everyone should play as a killer with stalk to see how bad they are right now. It's a shame because bvhr finally built what we're asking for and the code is just not there. I've seen several post saying that's just how dedicated servers work but it's not (example: Overwatch).

I appreciate bvhr continuing to test though. Hopefully they can fix it.
