Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Devs are disconnecting from us more and more?

Do you guys have the same feeling or is it just me?

The devs give less and less statements, they answer less and less critical questions on live streams (last stream they didn't even answer a single question/concern of the community). Dedicated servers are running for 2 weeks already, no informations given from bhvr what's up with that, how the results are etc

So many feedback posts regarding nurse, not a single statement where the devs want to position themselves regarding that.

Feedback about the rift pass wasn't addressed either.

I personally have the feeling the devs want to become "professional" like some big companies, decide for the customers what's bettter for them "cuz the customers don't know what they want and what's better for them" and only address stuff which causes a massive drop of players as an emergency tool.

What I personally would wish for the game is if they would implement us more into decisions they make. Not only when the stuff is already finished and done but much earlier in the planing and concepts. At least fog whisperers should be there very close to bhvr and representing what the community wants while trying their best to give everyone the most fun and balanced experience.

They always keep saying that "dbd isn't our game, it's your game" but around the 3rd anniversary I don't feel it that way.

Edit: if I'm not mistaken, tru3ta1ent had access to the nurse back then before anyone else. He was able to test and give feedback. Basically what we are suggesting the devs to do now aswell, but instead of just tru3ta1ent they should do it with a lot of fog whisperers.

Edit: typing mistakes

You messed up that last statement. "It's all turning towards more money and invested consumers than a happy core playerbase."

    Should be

"Happy core player base then money and invested consumers."

The forums are a super small percentage of players and we are not their core player base.

I am too. We'll just have to see how things unfold.

Yep, I miss the old days. It used to feel like the devs were on our side and cared about the community and the game. Ever since the third anniversary they've abandoned us.

It feels like most of the devs are done with DbD and just want to move on to a new project. Everytime they talk about DbD now it sounds like a chore, like they are housekeeping it just enough to keep money coming on. The Rift pass is going to allow them to do that even more.

Before anyone gets angry with me. These are my personal feelings on the matter. Feelings I hope are eventually proven wrong.

Frankly I don't blame them for disconnecting from the player base, I don't feel they are, I just feel they arnt giving you as much information via a media you are used to.

I completely agree with OP. We now get, what like one proper stream a month and even during that one stream, regularly asked questions and community wishes are ignored. I've put up so much feedback on this forum and im starting to feel it's all a waste. I've pinged the community managers to read some of my really well thought out posts. And after hours upon hours of my time, because im so passionate about this game not a single post has had any response or been read by the managers/mods/devs as far as i know.

I think it’s more of a revision to their communications style. Not to say that I don’t agree, but the company is still handling the project pretty well. Maybe it’s not the only thing they’re dedicating PR for anymore, tho.

I completely agree with the author of the post. I would like to add something, but you already said everything you need. Developers do not pay attention to their player base, they do not listen to them, they do not respond, and this is not only seen by me alone. Previously, there were live streams lasting an hour, and there they at least answered questions. Now recording for 20 minutes. Shame.

They cannot see the players for the green clouding their eyes.

I think alot of you are being judgmental. They might just have nothing to say right now. There is no reason to accuse them so hard of only thinking of the money. Can you read there minds?

Nothing to say? Do you even keep track of how much feedback, questions and concerns are getting posted on daily bases here? Nothing to say huh? There is a lot to say. They simply decided to say nothing (for now). They remain silent on nearly anything besides useless discussions.

It's their first independent game, let em try out their way of development including communication with the playerbase.

Do you keep track of all the random, pointless, and silly posts that get put here by all the people that get annoyed cause they lost to one thing or they think one thing is OP? No? Then stop getting in my face like that.

They arnt ready to make a statement that most of you will twist into the worst way you can. That's all i'm seeing from some of yall.

Besides, this forum isn't even a big part of the player base.

when it comes to game development and community management, it's important to realize that there has to be a balance between information that is given out the community and information that is sitting in the background. you cannot simply bring a community into a discussion literally all the time, because there's going to be plenty of clashing ideas coming along the way, and it'd become an unfair mess to others if they aren't heard or their suggestion was missed. it'll cause severe division and harm the platforms dead by daylight stands on.

transparency is important, yes, but too much transparency can ruin a business since they're constantly bringing forth their plans. plus, if they're planning a certain event, it'd be better to keep the element of surprise for the sake of marketing, otherwise it won't have its sparkles, if this makes sense?

not to mention this community isn't exactly the best, at least with those who are most vocal about their opinions and are strong on what's considered right and wrong to them. there's been multiple cases where certain parts of the dead by daylight community essentially shut down remotely any information that the developers given, despite it being something they asked for. i can understand the distrust, but people are challenging bhvr way too much, and then complain when they decide to leave something alone for the sake of their own heads or business.

it'd be better to think about what may have caused this/why they would do such a thing rather than instantly jumping the "oh it's for the money, oh they don't care, skjdnsknfdjsfds" bandwagon. by purchasing dead by daylight and being a part of the community, you're opening yourself up to these things anyway, so you're bound to see changes or differences regardless on whether you like it or not.

    give the devs a break.

    -

and before i'm hit with a "but they're constantly making changes we don't want!!" argument, these changes that are not being looked back upon may have been done for a reason. you have to accept that things aren't always going to be sunshine and lollipops. you'll see it across all sorts of game development companies. that's just how games and communities work, unfortunately.

I'm going to play devils advocate....

Atm the devs are hard at work with the dedicated servers, they've already missed their goal for release with it being previously the end of summer and here we are nearing the the end of October and so far the players here on the forumns have only mentioned the same poor performance that dedicated servers have had. So I can imagine the devs wanting to focus down on the dedicated servers to get that project out of the way asap...

on top of the dedicated servers it the busiest time of year for them, being that its Halloween, you have contests, another chapter in the works, ranking is being reworked (which I'd like to hear a status on that) and during an interview Mcote mentioned secondary objectives ----> I can only imagine the sort of work this is...

Wait Mcote mentioned secondary objectives? Where!? That's a big deal!

I really want to hear a statement on the Nurse nerf, its one of the largest nerfs I've ever seen and not a single question about nurse on the Q&A was answered. I really, really don't want them to kill nurse and force Spirit on everyone. Hoping those basekit changes get reverted.

He said "yes (to the question of will we ever see secondary objectives) but not in the way that we expect" ........ Theking got to interview Mcote for his bday at....... comicon I think it was... it's up on YouTube.... some interesting stuff actually.

We'll be answering some in the Q&A this week. The ones answered in the post in the Q&A thread are the simple questions that typically already have an answer out there (e.g. Do I get my cells back from The Rift? is something that was already answered). The rest of them, we collect and get answered so we can talk about it on stream.

Do you have a date to share with us for that Q&A? This is going to be the most important Q&A ever. At least for me
