We have temporarily disabled Firecrackers and the Flashbang Perk due to a bug which could cause the Killer's game to crash. These will be re-enabled in an upcoming patch when the issue is resolved.

Which is the most relaxing side?

I really think is funny that I do find playing survivors much more relaxing then killer.

I understand that a game with two opposing sides completing opposing objectives give 2 different feelings... But in my case are swapped! Haha

Is it just me?

People wonder why Killers get more BP... People wonder why so many Killers get on here upset.

BPs is cause MOST Killers NEED add-ons. Most Killers have mostly BAD ADD-ONS (like Legion.... *cries in Legion main*) But you will go through like.... 5-8 Bloodwebs to get like.... 2-5 add-ons you need, if that. I wouldn't mind Survivors getting more BPs, but I can assure you that they don't need add-ons and such as hardcore as Killers do.

The upset thing? They are stressed the whole game, doing all they can, then something happens that just rips it away or really pushes them over the edge. It's not helped at all by the fact that most Killers are not all that good. If you arn't playing one of the Top 3-4 you are gonna have it rough. ALot of Killers have ALOT of drawbacks with there Powers that cripples there map pressure. (Once again, Legion... Power leaves you in a worse spot or does nothing normally). So when that happens the Killer needs to vent, and alot of them go here and yell about it without thinking about it first cause all the stress and stuff has gotten to them.

Didn't mean to rant about it, but yeah. Being a Killer is REALLY stressful, as far as this game goes.

Playing nurse or spirit is relaxing because there isn't much challenge.

I don't find solo survivor relaxing at all since I have to babysit my teammates because they are usually trash.

    Swf is very relaxing though.

Honestly, I'm more stressed as survivor than as killer. But I think it's because of my attitude toward the game and the fact that I don't think I need a 4k. Literally I'm happy going out of a match with 2 kills

Survivor stresses me out more because of bs hits that really shouldn't have hit me, crappy teammates, and my playstyle is dictated by the killer. Oh the killer is playing fair and going after different people? Cool, I can just play normally. Oh this killer is playing like a dick? Now i have to alter my whole playstyle to accommodate the camper/tunneler/slugger/whatever that particular killer is doing. As killer, I never have to change my playstyle.

Survivor is usually more relaxing for me personally. Since even the killer I main, Spirit, still requires me to focus. And my builds tend to not always have Ruin, so I am in more of a time crunch than I usually am.

I personally find killer more relaxing. If I’m playing killer and mess up it’s only me that is punished while as survivor I have a team I’m working with.

Well, I have to disagree with you on one thing here. I don't need 4ks either, and Kilelr is stressful for me. Cause I still want to do WELL. I still want to have an effect on the match. I feel like if I don't put my focus and energy into it, I won't even get close to that. That's part of the stress. There isn't a moment you can just breathe, you are always after the next gen, the next survivor, the next noise notification. Constant, unrelenting, noise. I have t change my playstyle as Killer, it's part of the whole thing. I have no idea what amazing tactics you use that work on every Killer and every map, but please tell me so I can relax more!

I never feel pressure as Survivor.

    Repair? K.

    Get chased? K.

    On hook? K.

    Died? Weeeee, next match.

Survivor will always be the more relaxed side 9/10 considering you have 3 other teammates who help do gens, and they’re the most simple thing Survivors need to do to escape

Survivors will always be more relaxed.

That's because this game is a 4v1. Having teammates is a big deal. It takes off a lot of mental pressure and you can goof off and a teammate can pick up the slack.

The killer is the power role, but with great power comes great responsibility. You, and you alone, are entirely responsible for your success or failure. If you slack off, you'll probably lose. So you keep telling yourself you can't slack off and need to get to work.

Now make no mistake. Both roles can be very stressful. Or both can be cakewalks. It all depends on how good the other players are. I've breezed through many killer matches and I've breezed through many survivor matches. I've also been highly-stressed as a survivor knowing there is no hope, we're all gonna die, nothing I do can change that fate, and sat on the hook wondering if my idiot teammates are ever going to find a moment to pry themselves from the dark corner they're hiding in to help me. I feel helpless and powerless.

That is normal. I'd like to say I've felt the same as a killer, but sadly that's never happened to me, life as a killer in the low ranks is paradise. But life as a survivor can be stressful no matter what rank you're in, especially if you're solo.

But that doesn't change that the inherent asymmetric mechanic of the game means more burden of action and responsibility is placed on the killer. Always.

Survivor is more lax. Because on top of setting up , keeping pressure, looping, mind gaming, patrolling, setting up, protecting side objectives, knowing what perks the survivors are running and the occasional hooked survivor if the need arises for it. You also have to raise against the clock.

When you're playing survivor, even if everyone is doing semi decently, time is mostly on their side. Survivor can have more grace periods in their games, in between engagements. This is where I believe people enjoy survivor gameplay, the tension, the more relaxed moment before the thrill starts is similar to watching a decently paced horror film which can feel very rewarding. Where's as the killer they are always at a 110% pace at all times.

The only time I ever felt relaxed as killer was in the old days before the EGC.

There was no hatch for the last survivor if 2 gens weren't done. You could hunt them at your leisure...

Otherwise its generally pretty stressful. If you take it seriously. Which I do.

  • RakimSockem
    RakimSockem Member Posts: 1,992

Don't get me wrong. Even though I'm okay going out with 2 kills, the majority of my games end in 3ks and 4ks because unless the survivor team is super coordinated, the current state of the game is too easy for killers in the middle ranks (as I see it and I know the wrath of killer mains is going to come down for that comment).

I mainly play Michael, Trapper, Wraith, and Huntress. 3 of which are m1 killers essentially and can be played very similarly, and the Huntress who imo in the right hands is the most powerful killer (I'm not that good with her yet).

And the only killer I use Ruin on is Trapper. I run whispers on every killer, I find people early and I apply as much pressure as I can early on. Tends to work most matches, believe it or not.

I think the level of stress for killer goes up with how seriously you are taking the game.

When I play killer I don't take it seriously. So I don't get stressed at all. I feel like I'm just messing around.

When I play survivor, I usually don't take it seriously either so I do't get too stressed. Sometimes though I get into it and get serious, and that's when I started losing my cool.

As a general rule, if you are maining one side over the other I think you take that side more seriously. So a Survivor Main is more likely to take playing survivor seriously, while a Killer Main is more likely to take playing killer seriously. And the ensuing stress reflects that.

Look at it this way, survivors from the beginning control the flow and speed of the game. Killers are trying to disrupt that flow. Therefore killers begin the game with a huge amount of stress, and have to alleviate that by completing objectives, whereas survivors can become stressed, but only by the actions of the killer.

"Therefore killers begin the game with a huge amount of stress, and have to alleviate that by completing objectives, whereas survivors can become stressed, but only by the actions of the killer."

Killers are also stressed only by the actions of the killer. Not sure why you are making that distinction.

Killers start out mroe stressed because there are more survivors and more locations to patrol at the start of the game. Survivors likewise have an easier time at the start because there are more places to go to do do their objectives, and they still have 3 teammates alive.

As gens are completed the game gets harder and harder for survivors, and as teammates get hooked and die the same happens.

Both sides are afflicted stress by things the other side does.

Overall I'd say killer is more stressful. Mainly because you want to do well. If you don't it's on you.

On the flip side I'd say survivor is more frustrating. You try to play a normal game and get a killer who camps, tunnels, and goes all out with perks and addons. Or get paired with idiot teammates who do nothing. I'm not a great survivor. Hell I'm not sure I'd even say I'm a good one. But I look like Puppers next to some of the knuckleheads I get paired with.

Just dont use addons then. No killer needs them, but they are helpful. Some killers I have seen at rank 1 every season dont use ruin or addons. That's my goal.

Survivor stress is pretty much monexistent at any rank and in fact gets less and less as you go up. Killer starts off super chill and becomes a f***ing nerve shredding nightmare at the top of the top where you either do the absolute most optimal things possible every time or you lose most matches.

Thing with killer is - if there is any action at all in the game you don't worry about missing it. You are in the center of it.

More relaxing - I guess survivor since you get an opportunity at some down time during a trial, while a killer is all go.

Both sides can be frustrating in different ways.

Killer tend to put most of the 'stress' on themselves. Comes down to attitude - if they let themselves get stressed, they feel pressured, they make mistakes more easily.

Subjective about which side is easier. Killers have to do a lot, survivors have to know a lot, especially if they run solo.

That (too easy for Killer at Middle rank) is your opinion which I will respectfully disagree with. I'm not sure what you meant with the rest of it, but i do wish I could play Huntress well.

I'd love that to be my goal, if I felt it was doable. Admittedly, I use Legion, that should tell you plenty on that front. But more than just that, Alot of Killers feel very reliant on there Add-ons. Doctor, Clown, Wraith, Legion, Billy, Nurse (more or less now, not sure).... in fact MOST Killers do. Can you play without them? Sure, and you will get good with them. Should the average person that doesn't want to master a Killer not use them? No, cause they will get frustrated.

I think it's a mindset too. Like do you want to improve that way? I dont want to have to level up Killers constantly to replenish addons i would rather invest in perks on other characters.

Also Billy is definitely a killer who does not need addons. No idea in Clown it depends solely on how your using him and his build. Wraith I'm not sure about as I dislike wraith, but I've started playing wraith, plague, and Ghostface more. I have noticed that the build with addons and without are usually not the ones they need different things.

I will be completely honest. I get 1000% why you'd want to run without add-ons. Because THAT is why i'm so good with Legion (even though Legion add-ons SUCK). I hammered that into my skull by not using add-ons. But the thing is with the add-ons, when you don't have them you are making it instantly harder on yourself. Many people will not bother or want too do that. Therefore, the reliance on add-ons for the normal Killer (both player and the Killer itself cause let's face it, alot of Killers have Add-ons as band-aids to there power) makes the higher BP gain make more sense.

That being said, yall should get more BPs across the board.

Survivor is more chill and relaxing because you’re not always actively in a chase with the killer. You have much more down time. Getting chased isn’t even a threat most of the time.

Killers are always on a time crunch and have to chase all four survivors. Some killers can be relaxing if you’re good with them because you easily win chases. Sometimes I’m very relaxed playing Spirit and Plague because I’m so used to it.

Nurse is definitely not unless you're facing baby survivors. A 4 swf will give me a run for my money. New guys die in like 3 minutes, that's just the broken rank system..

I mean the 1v4 scenario is already stressful by default. You have to use your 1 single brain and always keep track on what the other 4 brains currently doing and where, micro managing time, juggling between gens, deciding when to commit or not etc with constantly knowing the timer is ticking.

The stress factor on killer side is 10 times higher than on survivor side, if not more.

And to clarify: I'm only talking about high level play. Versing potatoes is obviously not stressful at all.

Survivor is easier role I can casually play survivor and not really care how well I do to The point where now I don't run perks when I play killer I get headaches from how frustrated I get and often take breaks especially when I get a 0k

  • Liruliniel

Oh I completely understand. I've always like to challenge myself tho. Do I lose? Yes without addons, ruin, BBQ&C if I screw up too much or over commit I lose the game. On the other hand because I don't play them when I do decide to use them I feel the game goes too easy.

    Stuck in limbo now xD

Killer is way more relaxing for me. I find it easy, I crush all of my Survivors, and you get way more bloodpoints. Plus, you don't have to deal with Prayer Beads Spirit (or just Spirit), Basement Hag (my two most hated Killers), Iridescent Head + Infantry Belt Huntress, or a Mori taking you out of the game in 0.5 seconds, without even Decisive Strike being able to prevent that tunneling. With Killer, you also don't have to rely on your monkey teammates to win the game. You can rely on your skill alone.

  • Mochan
    Mochan Member Posts: 2,886

I offer this statement as proof of my earlier claim that the role that stresses you more is the role you take more seriously. As evidenced by terumisan, he doesn't care how he plays as survivor, so it's the easier role for him.

Im a survivor main and in my opinion killer is more relaxing for me. Because as a survivor you have to use teamwork to escape i always play solo and my teammates are mostly garbage even at rank 1. But as killer you don't have to count on teammates to hook save you or do gens or to not get downed in the first few seconds of the match.

    Depends.

If you go into a solo match, survivor can become quite stressful as you have less control over what you’re teammates will play like.

Will they take a hit? Will they heal? Will they touch a gen? Etc.

In general I feel like when you have control over something it is less stressful. I find playing killer very easy and some killers don’t require hardly any skill unless the survivors are actually very good.

  • Mew

To me, killer is much more easy and less stressful. But that’s most likely due to the fact that i play killer much more than survivor, and understand a lot more stuff on the killers side.

as Survivor, i like looping, but if i loop for too long (doesnt have to be in the same match) i become very stressed and start making really stupid mistakes i really shouldn't make.
