I want to add 1 more rant...
So originally I started playing DBD on playstation. I got rank 1 killer/survivor every reset. When I was starting off as killer the survivors slowly started getting better as I ranked up as it should be. I felt that it was a good progression of survivor talent to rank. I have recently switched to PC...
As a survivor it's not too bad, it feels about the same. I will say that survivors on PC are A LOT saltier though. Killer, however, is a completely different story. My first killer match at rank 20 had a rank 19 triple prestige Bill with maxed perks. Then after that I got 1 or 2 matches with actual rank 19s and 18s, but after that holy hell. Every single match from 16-13 (my current killer level) has been the sweatiest matches ever.
Again I've been rank 1 on PS4 and I'm a rank1 survivor on PC so I have a good sense of survivor prowess. I can tell when its SWF or when survivors are WAY out of their area. At rank 14 I get matches where all the survivors know the loops perfectly and can all 180 and 360 and have insta heals. I cant afford teachables yet either but all the survivors have theirs maxed. It's been 10 days since reset so how are they still rank 14-16??? Even my survivor is rank 3 and I have been focusing on killer this month. Are they depipping or what?
The worst part is when my friends want to play DBD after me telling them how fun it is and when they do killer matches they end up switching to survivor because "being a killer is too stressful". Yesterday I posted the rank difference but today I'm just letting out my frustration about playing overpowered survivors that are clearly rank 1-5 at rank 14. And you can make the argument about me being a rank 1 killer at 14 but I'm only level 26 with 3 teachables...
Rant over.

There are players on both sides looking for easy games but the survivor smurfs are more numerous. They get mad when they lose to "sweaty killers" so it makes the brown and yellow killer ranks a gauntlet of players with thousands of hours of playtime you will have to get through.
Your reward for getting through will be SWF after SWF, so be careful what you wish for.

The only way to combat this is to add rank rewards something that we have been asking for, for a loooong time and still haven't gotten sadly ):

Crossplay when?

Those figures aren't actually comparable.
While PS4 had 540k players that's the amount that logged in over the time period while the PC 20k figure is the amount online at any one time.
Take the largest playerbase on PC stated of over 1miliion players in the 2018 hallowed blight event it still only peaked at 75k users online at one time.

@JtheLast "Come back to PS4 where we actually know how to play the game"
This made me chuckle, but seriously, PC players are the elite of DBD full stop.
Crossplay would be a massacre but if it means more blood for the blood god I am all for it.

How are 360s a thing on PC in your games? Does not compute. 360s don't work on PC except against the most incompetent killers.
As for depipping. Sure, it probably happens. Killers depip a hell of a lot more than survivors do on PC, though. I run into a depipping killer maybe 5 times a night. Free BP. Don't need it though. I have never run into a depipping survivor, other than those that just flat out DC when they get downed (now that's very common).
Or it could be they are just long term players that play every now and then and not many hours a night. But they've been playing for thousands of hours and have everything and know how to play. But they don't play much so they're just at Rank 14ish.

@jthm0138 I know once you learn survivor on controler you can pull off some moves but sweet jukes will never get you banned.
Console killers have their hands tied behind their backs, so your experience would likely be different if you were facing a PC killer while playing on a console.

I used the 360 and 180s as an example of something no true rank 14-20 should know how to do. Unless I'm having a terrible match those type of techniques don't work on me. They do, however, work on killers that are trying out the game and are thinking about if they want to keep playing as a killer or not. You can argue that they will eventually need to know how to fight against that but I think it's entirely unfair to have them face it so early on. That's how you make people lose interest in a game when there is already such a high learning gap when you just begin.
You don't see that as much as a survivor. When I was going back to red ranks on PC from level 20 survivor I had maybe 1 or 2 killers that were maxed and out of place but most killers were at the appropriate level. As a killer on the other hand you overwhelmingly see this to the point where if I get a match with survivors matching your level/skill set (not rank, level), it feels out of place. And again, I very rarely have a match where a killer is trying to depip (maybe one every week or less) but I will have matches almost daily where I get a triple prestige survivor that the second I hit them dc or just a survivor that will straight up dc the second the match starts.
As to the long term player thing you said, there must be a lot of them doing that because that's almost all I get at yellow ranks. On top of that, when you do end up getting a 4k or 3k they start trash talking you like crazy. I've had survivors tell me to kill myself or call me derogatory slang for homosexual because I ignore them when they keep trying to get me to chase them. I have a 1 minute video of 2 survivors insulting me, then giving the true rank 16 crap for being so bad, then insulting me again. That's not okay.

@jthm0138 Fair enough, but I do not think many PC players are switching to console as it is the inferior version of the game due to hardware and proprietary restrictions that go hand in hand with the closed ecosystem of consoles.
All I am saying is if crossplay is enabled console survivors will have the surprised pikachu face when facing PCmasterrace killers.

I think the biggest downfall to the console versions is the limited sensitivity of the camera. It's nowhere near as responsive as PC is.

You learn against controller killers with bad frame rates.

If crossplay was enabled any console survivor would get absolutely destroyed by PC killers, simple as really.

As far as i know there arent a ton of people at low ranks on pc or at least it doesnt seem it considering a lot of people wait 30 mins for a game sometimes i think pc has a lot of swf and streamers at red ranks and not really any solo players where as ps4 probably has a bit of everyone
