Battle pass hate....

Why do so many people hate the battle pass addition? I truly want to know because I don't think it seems that bad. I may be naive because I haven't played any other games with a battle pass, but this actually sounds good.

First, it is totally optional (doesn't affect gameplay if you don't buy it).

Second, there is a free version that not only gives you free items, but also shows you where you would be on the paid version. (Which you can buy at any time and still receive all those items)

Third, you can actually earn auric cells back so if you want the next battle pass you can get it at a discount (or free if you manage to do everything)

Fourth, I actually like the idea of side objectives. I always do the dailies and this will help change it up.

Yes, I know it is a cash grab but if the money stops coming in then so do the new chapters, killers, survivors, and maps. I think this is a great thing to keep the game growing without forcing anyone to buy anything...

So what are the negatives that I am missing?

The later challenges are next to impossible, to prevent earning bonus Rift shards & encourage buying Rift skips.

Lore is locked behind challenges, so if you're like me: Enjoys lore, is a casual player, then you're hosed.

The challenges were clearly made with no thought as to the playerbase; they either require your team or the OTHER SIDE to carry you, and most can be completely screwed over if one person ragequits.

And those challenges all say 'Must be done IN ONE MATCH'. So enjoy trying, and trying, and trying, and trying, and trying, and trying, and trying until you get sick, give up, and decide to buy a Rift skip to get whatever rewards you want.

Or grind nonstop for a small amount of EXP to earn 1 shard at a time.

That does suck if it the lore is locked down that tightly. I will be searching youtube before buying rift fragments just for that.

Nah... you can get the lore

Just ignore the survivor side... that's where the BS is.

Isn't the lore on the archives side, meaning that the paid version of the rift wouldn't affect it anyways?

The lore in the tome is separate from the prizes in the rift, and lets be honest...you can easily read online anything you dont unlock. Personally, I think it's setup pretty well so far. Ive only gotten to play abit today, so havent done many challenges yet but already have the majority of the first page of prizes unlocked in the rift. We have 68 more days to go and all the event serums are within the first 6 pages of rift challenges. Im holding off on buying the premium track atm, because Im currently broke and I wanna see how far I can get the rift unlocked before doing it.

People keep bringing up how hard some of the highest end challenges are, but I have a feeling...with 68 more days, plenty of ppl will end up finishing all 9 pages of rift rewards without even having to do alot of those challenges.

Because people want everything without putting money or effort in it.

Are you aware that people actually don’t have 68 days for the pass since each tome is time locked? The fourth won’t be available until the end.

You get rift fragments for every 800xp.

Where do you think those are going?

I am not aware, please explain if you can. I only played it a little bit last night and do not know all of the specifics.

People can’t just play through the pass at once. Even if you complete the level tomorrow, you need to wait several weeks before the last level comes out.

They can. With their Rift Fragments they get for playing.

There are small things here and there I dislike about battle passes. I always expect DLC in games, plus the game costing money, that's normal.

But as far as I am concerned about battle passes, I just don't like them. Sure it gives money to the DEVs, and if you don't like them you don't have to buy them.

I didn't like them when they came to Rocket League, not in Paladins, not in Dota 2, not in Rainbow Six, and I do not like them coming in here. If you ask me for reasons, I can't honestly give you any "real" reasons, I just don't like them. Simple.

Maybe it's simply because it's a new trend happening to every game ever. And I hate that kinda crap. Kind of like Battle Royals. Cute and charming in its own here and there, but when everyone is milking it, no, please stop.

There used to be a time in PC gaming, where the devs actually had to work for their money. Releasing a buggy, broken, unfinished game would result in a complete failure of that title and possibly the developer.

Now, they can release absolutely garbage alpha state games, make you pay to play them, while they continue to work on em, and appease the kids suffering from acute ADHD (their target audience) by adding some different color t-shirts to the game and charging 10 bucks each for 5 minutes of work by a graphic designer. Parents will dish the money out to keep their kids busy and not disrupt their health food/yoga/what is my cat doing today live streams.

It's a successful business model for sure, but highlights the general stupidity of most gamers who snag up their mommy or daddy's credit card for the cool new blue t-shirt, since the red tshirt was so last week.

    Pathetic.

I was more positive than negative about it...until I saw the tier 4 challenges. Now I have tier 4 negativity.

Almost all battle-pass games are "FREE TO PLAY" this is not "FREE TO PLAY"

With the addition of this battle-pass, this games needs to go free to play. Absolutely no reason to have this game at 39.99 anymore.

Going free to play will bring in such a bigger audience && the die hard fans of it will still do exactly what they're doing now - buy the battle-pass/cosmetics/new Survivors/Killers/etc.

That's what angers me about the situation....oh and the fact that the Switch version is like the red headed step child that no one likes so it gets no love BUT HEY...that's why I play it on every platform!

The only reason I dislike it a little bit is because instead of adding something like a rank reward or something the community as a whole has been asking for a long time we get a battle pass.
