Heaven forbid it be made less challenging, right?

You can do it, so screw everyone else?

Or is it that you might not feel as special if it's made easier so more people can succeed at it?

There's 'challenging' and then there's '#########?'. Now if these were just optional 'I did it!' challenges; fine. Make them freaking hard as balls.

But these challenges lock out the lore people were excited for.

They ALSO reward Rift points. Which are used to advance in the Rift.

Oddly enough; you can also PAY to advance on the Rift.

Now BHVR is not the first, nor last, company to do it, but whenever there's a rward that you can earn or BUY, companies make the EARNING of said reward a long, slow grind or put it behind things incredibly difficult so that BUYING it seems like the best option.

So you can see what it looks like now; challenges so effing hard that you'd rather just buy the next level on your rift, rather than fight for those 5 Rift Shards. IE: Challenges so hard, they 'encourage' you to buy the Rift skip. (Quotes used because it's just a step shy of flat out paywalling the content.)

@Entity_Burger I'm sorry that you feel these Tome4 changes are ######### level - I don't feel that way whatsoever and we won't ever agree. So I shall choose to end our discussion here. Best of luck

@Sairek As my previous post to @Entity_Burger - this conversation will not go anywhere other than further negativity. We wont agree - carry on and complain away idc - our back and forth has now ended

Guys lets be honest here. To those defending some challenges, I am at Devotion 8 playing only killer almost all the time, I played in all ranks, and I had 4 survivors hooked in the basement at the same time two times in my entire experience. That’s not a challenge, that’s something dictated by things you can’t control.

I completed the entire first level of the archive this morning. How are any of them hard? Their just easy dailys

    1) From what I read here, a lot of the impossible challenge is actually doable, it just need the star in the sky somehow aligned perfectly. Joke aside, if the challenge is one-off then I have not much problem with it. The problem is the challenge will likely repeated from the next battle pass, it is hard enough to pull it off once, if you ask me to consistently recreate the scenario and complete it every single or other battle pass? Hell no.

    2) I believe the existence of the impossible challenges stem from the final rewards of getting all your AC back. Honestly, if I spend money to buy a DLC or sort, I wouldn't expect to get back the money I spent when I finish the DLC, Battle pass should be in the same category. I wouldn't expect to get back the AC if I somehow convinced to buy into the pass, I would spent the money, play some fun matches, complete all the challenge, get me some nice cosmetics and be happy with all the rewards I get. If I get the feeling that I couldn't finish the pass, then why bother?

4th level of the Archive has stuff like unhook 3 survivors during EGC, sacrifice all 4 survivors in the basement, complete 4 gens with Dark Sense, and while these aren't too difficult by themselves, the real kicker is that they all have to be done in a single trial, and rightfully so, these aren't challenges, these are either pure dumb luck or must be done in a farming match.

Well, it's gonna be a simple matter of getting into a 4 man SWF and contacting the killer via Steam or whatever platform you play on so you can just... help each other complete this ridiculous challenges.

For example they could let you save 3 people during the EGC to get the challenge and then you let him hook you all on the basement so killer gets theirs.

I honestly see absolutely no other way to do some of these for either side. This just shows (again) how incredibly disconnected the gameplay devs are with the way this game is played.

Ooooh, I didnt realize that. Could make this much more problematic for me

I was going to invest in the Pass but after seeing the Level 1 challenges of 'Single Trial' challenges, it's making me super wary for higher. And if the only way I'll be able to level up said pass is just playing, it would take far too long, so it's a very hard pass on that for me. I'll stick with free unless these challenges get made a little less frustrating, because yes, people may be like 'Just git gud' or 'They're easy lol'. But lets face it. On what match has any survivor allowed killers to trap them with traps? What game has any survivor let people just hook them all. Low ranks yes, but high ranks, they're freaking toxic as all hell. And now challenges are in the game, I'm seeing more and more DC's because people can't get their single trial challenges, which is impacting games going forward. I was looking forward to the lore, but this has really put a huge negative view on it for me, and I'm going to be super skeptical of the future tomes now. I pray they learn from this and make the single trial ones a little more easy. Not super easy, but at least lower the numbers down.

Survivors tend to usually not want to help the killer. In recent memory, I’ve only came across 2 groups who weren’t trying to screw my (baby) killer, and only 1 of those fully participated (the second had a toxic Nea who liked to make loud and constant noises.)

And survivors will NEVER willingly allow you to sacrifice them. And they’ll MAYBE only allow hooks if there’s a friend near but even then, it’s risky. I myself allow myself to die if the killer had a bad game or was particularly nice, but I know I’m an exception to the rule.

As the pass currently stands, I have no faith or confidence in it. I’m not paying for something that’s blatantly designed to ensure I don’t make it to the end without paying extra. Let’s be honest - those roadblocks mean that a) you’re not supposed to earn ac back and b) you’re encouraged to spend more ac - so the pass really isn’t completely truthful when it says it’s 1000 ac. It’s 1000 ac entry free, at least.

I really hope the devs make later challenges much more feasible. It’s not a challenge if it’s impossible, and if it’s impossible, there is absolutely no fun and nothing worthwhile about it, except unnecessary and undue stress.

Oh well, it´s only been a couple of days since this has gone live.

Should we maybe give it some time, wait a couple weeks and see how things work out instead of straight away complaining??

  • pemberley

People say this all the time and it literally has never worked. Players are intelligent enough to know that if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s a duck.

Not to mention “hey, what if we just wait and see” also has literally never worked in the history of ever.

People say this all the time because it´s true - you need to take some time to test things first in order to get a proper impression - don´t jump the gun. After two weeks we will have a better idea of how this is working.

It´s also very dramatic to see how many people have used the word "impossible" in this discussion. Maybe in the future, the devs can share some statistics of how many people around the world completed the challenges =)

Some things don’t need to be tested though because people already have knowledge of how it would work. Anyone can tell you that it is not realistic to expect these roadblocks to get done in a single trial, let alone the fact that dcing is all too common - especially among the petty and salty who are aware of the “challenges.”

These “challenges” ARE virtually impossible if you want to play the game fair and normally. The only way for normal players to even attempt to get these done is if you farm (and hope they don’t backstab you) or play toxic.

SWF makes many of them feasible, but some of the IV killer ones looked impossible
