How to complete some Archive Challenges faster
Hey guys, this post is meant as collection of methods which make the Archive Challenges easier or their progress faster. Let's share what we find out together! :)
- Disturb X Crows. Just pick the Swamp map and disturb all the crows on the boat/pantry. They all count.
- Open X chests. Plunderer's Instinct to see the chests and Pharmacy to open them really quick. Could be combined with Ace In The Hole for the extra umpf. Coin offering is recommended. (Never tell others in the lobby you have to do this, or they might open every chest)
- Unhook safely. Use Borrowed Time to be sure. Maybe combine with Deliverance or WGLF. Distortion could help you to get to the hook unnoticed if the killer has BBQ.
- Sacrifice in Basement. Use any Killer with a good Basement defense, like Trapper, Hag, Huntress, Nurse, Bubba, Billy.
- Trap X Survivors. If you are a bad Trapper like myself.... just farm.
- Heal X Survivors. Healing yourself counts too.

Oh my god, does healing yourself really count? I could have gotten that one super easily.
Do you know if healing yourself also counts in the challenge that requires you to heal survivors with empathy?

I've completed all challenges in the first Tome and picked up a bunch of stuff along the way, and I'm very interested in discussing it, but I'm also very tired, so I'm going to look at my game tomorrow to remember all the challenges and in the meantime leave this comment so I can find the thread again later.

@arslaN I'm not sure. I had a farming Trapper where I had Empathy and I healed 2x myself and multiple other guys but I did not get it. Another match I only healed one other person and myself and I did get it. So I think you have to try.

X amount of great skillchecks with "This is not happening" - use "Stake out" if you bad with hitting great skillchecks.
5 -
I just ran No Mither and immediately ran to a generator, and finished the challenge within 30 seconds.
Of course, I didn't survive the match, but sacrifices had to be made.
6 -
one that i found, the one where you need great skillchecks while using This Is Not Happening, any great skill checks count. using Stake Out helps A LOT if you're not great at, well, greats.

@Rattman @Superyoshiegg @Mookywolf I did it with a Stay Injured build, but that works too.

Good thread.
Definitely gonna do this Stake Out strategy. Was just gonna try to do it raw, but if I can cheese it to take out some of the hassle, Imma do it.

What about "Earn X Bloodpoints"? Why are the additional points for WGLF and e.g. Escape Cake do not count?
I think that's stupid that only in-game bloodpoints count and no post-game bonus, because if I got 60k BP that match then I earned 60k and not 20k!?
But at least perks like Prove Thyself and so on help you get BP faster.

I did no-mither with this is not happening and sabotaged hooks.
0 -
yeah i hate that too. i went with my classic farming killer build, used Survivor pudding, got 80,000 bloodpoints... only rewarded like 20,000 something.

Im literally just going to ask the killer to let me do my challenge and I'll let him sacrifice me cause some of the challenges are BS

- Kill all Survivors in one trial. No need for an Ebony Mori here. Just 4k.
1 -
Which one are you having trouble with? I finished the whole tome today, happy to give advice if you're stuck?
0 -
Which one?

talking about later ones. the ones right now are EZ
0 -
Later ones. the ones right now are easy peazy
0 -
Ahh fair.

You should cross that bridge when you get to it. In another thread peanits already said that the challenges from tome 2 forward as are still subject to change

For anyone wondering the "Collect 50k blood points" only works for in-game obtained bp, doesn't counts for blood points obtained from dailys.

I recommend using Open Handed when looking for chests to loot.

For the kill all survivors, if a survivor disconnects while loading into the match, it counts as 4 kills for some reason :/
1 -
Jus did the same, thankfully had "This Is Not Happening" on David to speed this along! Only Rank 2 TINH but got it done in a match with an AFK then DC Nea, didn't make it, only made 28k total with about 15k from bonuses but glad to get it done in one try xD

Heal x health states of any survivor
use
- we'll make it
- botany knowledge
- self care
for faster healing speed.
0 -
It does. I only managed to heal one survivor in an entire match. I was surprised when healing myself counts too.

So ummm....is there an easy killer to get 4 kills with fir the challenge? I get close as the pug, but one always manages to get away.
I'm guessing I'll just keep plugging away at it

@Mrwood204 I used Freddy for this, because he's my main and I know him well. Choose the killer you do best with.

I'd say just save this challenge for last - there really isn't a way to guarantee it short of de-ranking yourself. A few tips that will help:
- Scummy as it is - tunneling one person out of the game quickly REALLY helps
- If you have someone amazing at looping, don't commit to chasing them. Remember, if they are the last survivor, you only need to hook them once
- Try a slugging build. Knock Out, Infectious Fright, Sloppy Butcher, Thanataphobia
- Ebony Mori - it's an investment, but it can easily turn the game in your favor
- If you see survivor(s) with keys - just dodge the lobby. Keys make 4Ks MUCH more difficult
- Don't stress. If you just keep at it, you'll get a 4K eventually.
- If you are really desperate try Hag or Myers. Both are fairly strong and straight-forward to play

Okay, I've gone through all my challenges and here are my tips.
Survivor challenges
Repair 2 generators - Bring a toolbox, Commodious or Engineer's ideally, with some speed and/or additional charges addons. BNPs can also help. This Is Not Happening, Technician and Spine Chill are good perks for focusing on generator repairs. Streetwise is also good for getting the most use out of the toolbox.
Safely unhook 2 / 5 survivors - Bring Borrowed Time to make sure the unhooks are safe, and We're Gonna Live Forever because if you're going to be doing a lot of unhooking you may as well get extra points for it. We'll Make It also works well in an unhook build.
Heal 4 health states - Bring a medkit with speed and/or charges addons, Streetwise, We'll Make It and Botany Knowledge to help you heal faster, and Empathy to help you find healable teammates.
heal 2 health states using Empathy - Same as above.
Succeed at 20 skill checks - This one can be difficult to get because Ruin is so prevalent, and Ruin skill checks don't seem to count. I haven't tested this with "special" skill checks such as DS, snapping out of it, or cleansing Demogorgon portals, but I don't see why those wouldn't work. I would recommend going for a combination of healing and sabotage skill checks, rather than relying on repairs. So bring Saboteur and Empathy to help you with those healing skill checks. I would not recommend bringing anything that increases healing, sabotage or repair speed, because the longer it takes you to complete the action, the more chances you have to get skill checks.
Escape a trial as Claudette - Works with the gate or the hatch. Use your best build, to give you the best chance of escape, and bring a dull/skeleton key as a backup. Left Behind and Adrenaline are useful perks for this challenge.
Get 3 great skill checks using This Is Not Happening - Again, Ruin skill checks don't count, so go for healing and sabotage. Bring Empathy, Saboteur, This Is Not Happening and No Mither, so you don't have to find the killer and get injured in order to activate TINH. I don't think that This Is Not Happening has to actually be active in order for skill checks to contribute towards the challenge, but it does make them easier. You can also bring a medkit or toolbox with skill check zone widening add-ons.
Search 3 chests using Plunderer's Instinct - If you have a coin offering, burn it, just to make sure you can get this challenge even if one of your teammates also searches chests. It's also a good idea (in my experience, unless your teammates are huge jerks) to mention you have this mission in pregame and ask people to please not open chests. Most people are happy to oblige, since they know you'll leave good items behind for them as well. Some might even offer to burn a coin for you. Also, search the basement chest first, since that's the one other people are most likely to get to before you.
Search 5 chests - See above.
Cleanse 8 totems - Small Game is good for this, and a Rainbow Map (or a green map with a killer's belongings tracking addon) is better. Spine Chill can also be useful, as it boosts cleansing speed. Obviously it will take more than one game to complete this, but if you're lucky it shouldn't take more than two. Cleanse all 5 totems in your first game if you can, just in case things don't go so well in the second game. Like the chest searching, it's a good idea to politely ask your teammates to leave the totems to you for your challenge. You can incentivise cooperation by offering to help them with their challenges in return.
Killer challenges
Unless you have to kill everyone for the challenges, convincing the survivors to farm with you can be an easy way to get most of these. Almost all of them are achievable within a single match. Game-slowing perks, such as Ruin and PGTW, are useful in all cases to give you more time to complete challenges.
Hook 8 survivors - It just means get 8 hooks, not hook 8 different survivors, so you should be able to get this in a single match if you're lucky. Agitation and Iron Grasp are good, as well as perks which help with locating survivors, such as Whispers and BBQ & Chili. Make Your Choice, Devour Hope and other perks which require you to be far away from the hook are also good, since you want to allow survivors as much opportunity to rescue each other as possible, because you want to be able to hook everyone at least twice.
Damage 6 generators - I don't know whether this just means damage a generator 6 times or damage 6 different generators, since I did both just to be sure. Patrol widely to give people time to work on as many different generators as possible. Brutal strength can also help, and you can pair it with PGTW if you like. I've heard that another very easy way to do this challenge is to just bring Surge, since the generators it damages automatically also count.
Damage the same generator twice - See above. This should be easy to do in a single match of normal gameplay.
Damage a generator or destroy a pallet 5 times using Brutal Strength - As above. Also make sure to destroy every pallet you can, and you should be able to complete this easily.
Catch a survivor in a bear trap twice as Trapper - Use Tar Bottles to darken your traps, and a Trapper Bag to help you carry more so you get set them up more easily. Otherwise, employ general good Trapper strategies - put traps in unexpected places and/or places survivors will likely run without looking, hide them well, don't put them down when you know a survivor is looking. Alternately, if you can convince survivors to farm, this will be a breeze.
Sacrifice 1 survivor during the endgame collapse - Remember that the EGC only starts once a gate has been opened or the hatch has been closed (that is, once the endgame timer appears). I used NOED and Blood Warden for this challenge. Ideally, you want to have hooked everyone twice by the time the last generator is completed. Bitter Murmur can also help, since it helps you to find the survivors at this point, which allows you to slug someone until a gate is opened and then sacrifice them immediately. Also, if no one is opening gates and just leaving them at 99%, just open the gate yourself to start the EGC.
Sacrifice 5 survivors - Obviously, this takes a minimum of two games to complete. Just pick your favourite killer and play your best, and you should be able to achieve 5 sacrifices in two games easily enough.
Get a 4k - Same as above - just play your best. NOED can be used as insurance to make sure you get everyone. Try to play in a fair and sportsmanlike way and maybe avoid Spirit, just to minimise chances of people disconnecting and denying your 4k.
neutral challenges
I would recommend doing both of these as killer - the first because killers earn more bloodpoints on average and the second because you can scare crows without penalty as killer, whereas as survivor, you run the risk of revealing your location to the killer.
Earn 50k bloodpoints - Bloodpoint offerings did not seem to affect this one, and I'm not sure if perks do either, but you can try using Distressing or BBQ to see if it makes a difference. Just try to score highly in all categories and you should complete this challenge within two games.
Disturb 25 crows - I threw the game for this one and just walked around the perimeter of the map disturbing crows the entire match. You could probably achieve it just in a normal match, though, especially if you use game-slowing perks like Ruin and PGTW.

Completely repair X Gens with Dark Sense in one match.
You do not need to repair the gens all yourself or even completely. It seems that you only need to be there and finish it. I don't know if gens count that others completed though.

I didn't know healing yourself counts too. Thank you! I'm gonna be crying tears of joy when I get that challenge from self-healing.

- Hook X people in the Basement. Use a killer with a good basement defense like Trapper, Hag, Huntress, Bubba. Don't camp the basement. You want them to get unhooked, so you can rehook them. Ideally you will get 12 hooks per game, my average was 6 for this. Maybe use offerings for maps with a central basement like Rotten Fields. Agitation and Iron Grasp are a must have for this, Mad Grit or STBFL come in handy too.
- Kill x Survivors during the EGC with NOED. I recommend a 75% end game built for this. NOED, Bitter Murmur, Blood Warden and Ruin. Never go without Ruin or chill during the game, or they will expect the NOED. I used Myers for it, because he's not a typical NOED Killer like Bubba, Wraith, Doc. Never try this challenge at all if someone has a map, they might find your totems really quick. Try to get everyone 2hooked until the last gen, so you don't need your eyes on the hooked person once the EGC starts. And don't forget to open the exit by yourself before the hook, so BW activates.

- Kill the Obsession X times by any means. I did it with a new build on Myers. Nemesis PWYF, Ruin and Enduring or Brutal Strength. Combine this with Judith's Jurnal and Tombstone Piece and force pallet stuns on a non obsession player so you can stalk faster and get PWYF stacks. Mori your obsession when they are fully stalked.
If everything goes right you can Tombstone 3 obsessions and use an Ivory Mori for the 4th.
