How about the Devs stop nerfing Killer and rather look at Maps

Maps are a far bigger problem then one Killer overperforming. All Farm Maps, Haddonfield and Macmillan maps need to be looked at. This is what the devs need to concentrate on. God loops, poor visibility and other BS. Fix that, before you "fix" the Spirit!

The biggest "issue" with the Spirit is that her power doesn't have a dual nature or true drawback. I speak for every immersed Claudette when I say that seeing a survivor is overrated, I've actually used the power to find immersed people by doing the power flick and the model flash when they disappear. So she actually needs a real drawback or a better tell for her power. I agree with the maps completely, but it's mostly objective/player spawn issues and some bad tile rng.

I agree 100% if they fixed the maps it would automatically bring the other killers up a bit and I would not care one little bit if they nerfed the ever loving heck out of Spirit after that

They already are working on some of the maps as we speak on their roadmap another map is going to be reworked, I can at least agree they should of done this a long time ago but at least they are finally doing work on them.

But I have a problem with the maps that you listed as problematic, aside from Haddonfield which isn't necessary bad for killers if it's just normal survivor loadouts as it only really becomes the worst map if any of them run Balanced Landing, but all MacMillan and Coldwind maps?

I can really only think of Ironwork's with the god window and possibly Suffocation Pit if the middle is filled with connected T L walls or single pallet tiles or if the back window spawns, otherwise the other MacMillan maps are fine and I actually argue that Shelter Woods needs a rework for how barren it is of tiles and pallets for survivors.

Farm maps also became much better once the tiles were no longer see through, so really the worst one now is Thompson House mainly due to each side potentially having connected tiles which shouldn't be possible, the other ones only can be rough If they have the god window spawns.

I'm more confused as to why you never mention maps like Ormond, Lery's, The Game, Mother's Dwelling, Disturbed Ward as I actually find those to be the biggest offender's for just terrible and or boring maps for each side.

You’re right, a lot of maps are actually fine unless the survivor has Balanced in which case a few maps become downright OP with loops.

In regards to the map rework I hate to be that guy, but the reworks are wayyyyyyy too slow. One map every 4-6 months mean it will take them years years to do all of them, at least 1.5 or 2 years even for the problem maps.

Well what else can you except from a small team? I like for the updates to come out much faster (I'm on switch version and we STILL DON'T HAVE PATCH 3.3.0).

But consider the following: They have to go through with analyzing which maps deserve to be changed, then going through multiple redrafts of new versions of those maps then getting those new versions tested out (likey by fog whispers) and seeing if they pass, if they do great they can start modeling and getting them in the next update if not they go back to the drawing board.

It may take long but I rather be promised something then get nothing.

When I'm playing survivor, I don't care what map it is. When I'm playing killer I hate every map except for like Hawkins and Shelter Woods.

Yes, there are lots of large maps which hinder a large amount of the killers, there are a lot of large AND clutter filled maps that ruin the experience for EVERY killer (Yamoka's/Ormond), and there are maps like Haddonfield/Preschool/Lery's/The Game/Stranger Things map that ruin it for...everyone.

They should also look at smaller maps like The Game. I mean why does something like 2 safe pallets upstairs into dropdown into 2 safe pallets equate to a well designed map? The literal safest pallets in the game, no pun intended. In fact, why do some maps have central buildings that provide such large loops without counterplay? Why don't you just make an entity blocker appear on 1 vault, or 2, instead of 3 for some places?

Are you really complaining about the pallets above and around the basement @ the game?

If you get downed right above the toilet room you might end up in the basement, so there's a high risk involved.

Jumping through the drop down without BL while in a chase can also be a risk if you're already injured, you might not make it to the next pallet anyway. If you jump down and the Toilet Gen was already finished, it's just 1 safe pallet, not 2 (as the door is open, 1 of the 2 pallets becomes pretty unsafe). Once that 1 pallet is gone, the basement area literally becomes the most dangerous place.

Yeah, I know. I mean, Killers can actually KILL Survivors!

That's clearly an oversight BHVR has spent the last 3 years slowly fixing. Soon, the game will be what it was meant to be; a BP farm for Survivors. The Killers popping up to say 'Boo!' and then giving them candy at the exits.

I hear, next update, they may remove the Killer's attack. This bug where Killer's can hurt Survivors has been around way too long.

Reworking maps takes a long while I'd rather they buff the killer roster then look at the maps

there are map reworks in the schedule.

also, i believe they said that they were not palanning any changes for Spirit at the moment in their stream not long ago. they are currently looking into Doctor, however we have nothing confirmed to what exactly they are looking at yet.

Lol these are the type of survs who think the Disturbed Ward main asylum building is fair.

4 safe pallets usually, 2 in the first room. 2 god windows. You're literally god.

Coal tower is pretty bad too with the tower itself being one long loop into a window with a safe pallet in front of a doorway a window up top a jungle gym or l wall at either side and a pallet in front of the building

  • CrowFoxy
    CrowFoxy Member Posts: 1,310

That window also has an unsafe pallet. Sure it's unsafe, but if you get a stun, you get another loop.

Spirit literally has to stand still to charge her power unlike Billy/Leatherface; they get a small stun after using their power but they also down in one shot.

She also can’t see while charging or using the power, and moves 5% slower than other killers; she has downsides to using her power already.

  • DarKStaR350z
    DarKStaR350z Member Posts: 765

Demo doesn’t stand still or lose sight of survivors while charging/using Shred and Spirit doesn’t break pallets with her power even using every addon she has - I don’t see how you can compare the 2?

  • Omans
    Omans Member Posts: 1,081

The biggest reason why there are so many complaints about Gen speed is because of how bad so many of the maps are for killers against good survivors.

A huge map overhaul is the best way bring both killers and survivors as close to equal balance as possible.

They already said they were looking at maps, it has been an ongoing process for awhile now.

  • chibikoi

if you make the maps more fair to the killers those who are already really good like spirit will be better, hence why they don't focus only on the map rework, you can say whatever you want but the reason that red ranks are filled with spirit is because she is the best (aside from nurse, but who wants to have to practice 10x as much to get even with spirit?) and buffing every killer a little still means that the tier list is the same, not counting the problem that any kind of map rework will most likely buff the outliers more than any other weak/avarege killer

map reworks/ buffs and nerfs are required to make a good game

I agree with your first point, if there’s any way it can all be done simultaneously it should be nerf spirit, maybe nurse freddy and billy can be slightly reworked? And the map rework will buff the other kills a bit at the same time so nearly all the killers will be close if not the same on power level

I see what you mean but Demo still moves 5% faster than Spirit and can break pallets with Shred as base kit.

Plus Demo also has portals, plus the killer instinct detection.

And you’re comparing Spirit with high rarity addons to other killers base powers without addons.

I just don’t see that it’s much worse than other killers and to say that she has no downsides when the example you mentioned she moves slower and has to use high rarity addons to achieve it.

If the addons are the problem then maybe look at those I suppose but compared to some other killers rare addons those effects seem fine personally.

Think about it this way if one survivor disconnect early in the match and it becomes a 1v3 the killer 9 times out of 10 will win.so the idea that they keep nerfing killers as per your statement is kinda a joke since they just nerfed instaheals.map changes would be a good idea but like all maps its better for others as well as worse for others.haddonfield is very good for trapper.farm maps are good for billy and can be good for stealth killers sometimes depends on rng.

If she could move while she used her power it would make it much weaker as a mindgame and that's her core strength. This is why no one complains about Demogorgon and Clown, they have such a huge audio and visual tell in their powers that it's easier to predict and counter. The issue comes down to counterplay and the only counterplay to Spirit is hiding scratches and walking/UEing, using infinites, or locker jukes and hoping the killer doesn't check. But those are based on what perks you have, what map and tiles you're on and the skill discrepancy from the killer. I honestly had more fun playing against prenerf Legion than I have against Wakizashi/Prayer Beads Spirit cause I could at least see and hear him/her and bait a pallet throw to disrupt their power. I can't do that against good Spirit players, it's like playing against Nurse with my eyes closed and the audio muted or Billy with that Tinkerer silence bug or Hag with the silent trap addon, I hate that one too and it reminds me of Spirit.

Pain Reliever did a video ranking most maps in a tier list, making them Killer sided, Survivor sided, or balanced, and found that most maps are Survivor sided. There were like 5 killer sided maps, 6-7 balanced maps, and like 15 survivor sided maps. Really hope Devs look into big offenders like Blood Lodge, Haddonfield, Disturbed Ward, and Mother's Dwelling.

Just don't forget that's an opinion, as I feel there's like minus 1-2 on both sides that belong in balanced. I do feel that maps are a huge issue in non meta killers having fun though. Half of those maps: get hit? you're now across the map + in a very safe near-infinite where 3 gens can now pop before you eat another one.

  • Spooky13
    Spooky13 Member Posts: 1,471

True, take it with a grain of salt, but mostly he had pretty good reasoning for putting them in each tier, such as Rotten Fields having a large amount of space needing to be patrolled, on top of all the corn, making it survivor sided, Coal Tower having a good amount of LoS blockers, and not too many pallets, making it balanced, and I Shelter Woods being killer sided, due to the low amount of pallets and lack of area to use Balanced Landing.

As a killer and survivor player the “infinite,” are sticking point for me. As a killer they’re annoying to do and it’s annoying that so many players are one trick ponies who run to the loops immediately every time you see them.

On the other hand, it’s their best chance of living so you can’t blame them for doing it and I do it sometimes myself. Although usually I “let,” killers have a fair chance on normal loops.

I strongly agree to this, but if they do map changes guess what they'll do next? Go right back into nerfing killers. I don't think the devs have noticed it yet. Nerfing survivors is like a mosquito bite, very little to no affect on the community, while nerfing killers is like a snake bite, slim to no chance of recovery.

There’s no guarantee those addons will be the ones you’re the talking about as it’s its RNG.

Outside her terror radius you do get a tell that she’s using her power which is what you are all asking for.

Demogorgon is actually the fastest killer during power use moving at over 425% speed using portals and 460% during Shred. Spirit using her power moves at 176%.

In response to the person above your comment, if you actually play Spirit then it’s really easy to predict what she might do and where she might go based on knowledge, even if you can’t hear her - if she hooks someone and knows the gen you are on is nearly complete then she will most likely come there’s and you can preemptively react appropriately by moving or hiding etc.

If they do give her a tell then maybe they could change one of the passive phasing addons to remove it and that would at least force some build diversity where you would have to choose between having a tell, a fast power use/recharge/duration, the prayer beads or amulet - surely this would be reasonable for both sides while addressing the problems mentioned?
