The Best Anti-Loop Killer
You probably thought this was a Spirit post, but it's actually about Clown. Where are the Clown mains at anymore? He's nowhere as bad of a killer as people say he is. In fact, I believe the community themselves drive players away from him by saying negatives things about the killer. Clowns (that down face camp with gas) create some of the more exciting matches I've played. It's a shame that people think he doesn't have much map pressure, or he's not that strong when I'm pretty sure he's the one of the only three killers that stops loops easily.
And as for the gas/snare debate:
- Afterpiece Tonic is stronger than Freddy's dream snares because they can be inflicted on a survivor at will with great AoE, while snares are only effective when the loop continues further or they already existed in one. Survivors that are awake make snares inefficient as well until they sleep or get hit, yet Clown only needs to reload briefly, to where survivors half the time don't abandon the loop and just watch him grow stronger in chase within a few seconds.
All in all, it saddens me to see him as the rarest killer to find. The meta kinda screws with everything nowadays.

From what I see, people kind of abuse the bottles by spamming them in the beginning of a chase rather than sparsely using them to close distance with one, and save the rest in case of upcoming loops. It's what makes him the "strategic" killer. If Freddy can't get his target asleep if they're awake, and he hasn't landed a hit on them, he's just a basic killer in a chase as well. Teleporting is in freddy's own right. It really just depends on the skill of the user lol.

He could have some value buffs. I feel like he's similar to pre-buff Hag. In theory he should work and be viable, but in practice his values (slow amount, duration, reload time, etc...) are a bit too low to be effective enough.
I think his killrate was one of the lowest at some point. Just a little buff devs and he could join the viable killers

Freddy's snares are still situational depending if the area you're currently being looped at has any snares regardless. Clown on the other hand can slow a player immediately if he wants to, and doesn't require placing snares in circles over time. Compared to Freddy, Clown is the more pressuring killer in a chase, where Freddy most of the time has to build up as he goes with snares, or mindgame with dream pallets.

Nurse and Spirit are still on top I think. Unfortunately, Nurse had her aggressiveness capped by the devs, so you have to play her extremely well now in order to succeed (and even then survivors can still gen rush to win).
So for the average killer, Spirit is probably your go-to anti loop killer.

Clown can end chases quickly, but he has no map pressure or snowball potential. If a survivor runs from loop to loop, he'll get all the pallets gone, sure. But 2-3 gens will pop and by that point it won't really matter. I love the Big Man but he's just not that good right now. Dearly needs some love but there are other killers who need attention first.

Really depends on the level of play. His tonics simple aren't strong enough to effectively shut down loops except under ideal conditions. Though they do work well and funneling survivors the way you want them to go. But that doesn't matter that much.
But like all killers that can't 1 shot down or have significant map pressure, he suffers from the run and gun and simple can't pressure the gens enough to be very effective in red.
