You need 800XP for ONE rift fragment. To go up a tier, you need 10 rift fragments.

That's 8000XP per tier. With that in mind, there's a total of 70 tiers, as to which there was 70 days in which to complete this rift... that's 8000XP per day, IF you started from the day the rift began, an amount which is ridiculous for casual players. This amount will only increase the less you play/the later you start progressing the rift. With queue times in mind, which is a huge issue for majority of players, how do you expect us to complete each rift? 8000XP x 70 Tiers = 560,000XP.

Now, let's take a look at how many tiers you'll get for completing the current tome. Including the rift fragments you get for completing the tome, that's 93 total rift fragments, so 9.3 tiers.

With this in mind, let's calculate how much XP this would be, and take it away from the total above. 93 Rift Fragments x 800XP Per Fragment = 74,400XP. 560,000XP - 74,400XP = 485,600XP left to grind after completing the tome. Now, it's possible you might spend enough time in-game to complete the tome on the first day of the rift, therefore, let's divide 485,600 remaining XP by the amount of days left in the rift (70). This still leaves us at a minimum to grind 6,937XP per day.

This is way too much of a grind. Let me know if i've made any incorrect calculations.

Oh, not forgetting all the perks you have to grind for too.

Let's say you get 90 fragments every tome, that's 4*90 in total. That leaves 340 fragments to grind by game time.

340*800 is the total xp needed

Subtract 600 free xp every day for 70 day 600*70

That leaves 230k xp to get in 70 days while actually being in a trial.

You get about 56xp per minute so that's about 70 hours of time in a trial. Queue time is not calculated here because too variable.

I would estimate +30% considering queue, so about 90 hours

I have to agree. This game has always been extremely grindy. In fact, it's easily the most grindy game I have EVER played, by far.

While i do agree this is a grind and the perks are a grind to get. I played League of Legends for more time than im willing to admit. That was a grind. Unlocking legends on play time alone was could be pretty brutal and the matches itself lasted upwards of 30 mins when i first got into that game. I stopped playing over a year or 2 ago. And at the time i had all the legends without having to pay up to unlock any of them.

Just saying. It could be much Much worse.

And while i dont like the rift and wont be forking up any money over myself. (To each his own) This is the first rift for this game has done this and I hope that by the time this one is over, that the dev team has gotten smarter and can make improvements.

I'm very glad that I always have something to work towards. That being said, I don't like how much grind there is for the time locked rift. I think that it should be knocked down to 600xp for 1 fragment so that 1 game roughly equals 1 token instead of the 0.75 games equals about 1 fragment we have now. Still, that's 700 games at the least to unlock the entire rift without the archives.

I think I got about 7 levels from the archive rewards (can't look at it now to confirm), and if the next 3 tomes grant similar rewards, we'll only have to grind out 42 levels. So that's about 525 games in the current system, not including the 300xp bonus from the first game on both sides for the day. Factor that in, and you only have to play 475 games of Dead by Daylight within the 70 days allotted, assuming you can complete all archives and play at least 1 survivor and killer game everyday.

If each game takes 20 minutes on average, including the lobby and loading times, that means you must play 9,500 minutes, or 158.3 hours, over the 70 days. This means that you should be playing about 23 hours every 10 days.

Hopefully there's something wrong with my math, because that's a bit much. It would be nicer if we had either 90 days to complete the rift or only had to get 600xp for a fragment. That would bump the hours per day from 2.3 to about 1.75 for either change.
