The true issue with Spirit, in my opinion.

The problem with a powerful killer in Dead by Daylight doesn't come from the fact that she is powerful, but rather how easy she is to learn...this past double bloodpoint weekend I poured millions of bloodpoints into Spirit. Now, in less than 24 hours I was able to 4k 5 Gen 4-man SWF groups with only yellow add-ons at rank one. Her "mindgames" are very, very strong. I think what should be looked at is not her overall strength but the skillcap for her. Nurse was (and arguably still is) the strongest killer, but it takes a very long time to dominate with her! Spirit however can dominate after just hours of practice.

So what do you think? Do you agree with me that Spirit should remain at the top of the tier with added counterplay? Should she just be left alone? Or a complete rework?

What counter-play do you want on her?

I think against causal survivors Your going to dominate with a strong killer, her build isn't hard to pick up, but learning how to be super advanced with and and make specific baits and reads are what separates a good from a decent spirit. Obviously good headvones help but wont carry you, if you think spirit has nothing you can do against her if shes "good" watch space esports tournaments with thousands of hours, killers can ban perks, spirits ban iron will and lose. Why? Because they understand how to face her and are super optimal on gens, meaning 3-4 minute games if a killer makes one mistake, while survivors have 3 a piece.

I think after 24 hours you cannot really judge the spirit. I get a lot of killer games where red ranks behave like infants, going for insta unhooks, getting downed beneath a hooked person and urbaning around the maps, where I ask myself how they got red ranked. And the answer is probably, because the ranking system is bulls at the moment.

As xRem said, headphones help but won't carry you, as you would get lost against any iron will. You also need to adapt to visual cues, and not only scratch marks. And the mindgames on survivor side need to be trained as well, and it is harder to do this than for killer to train spirit, as you don't always run agains spirit.

The survivor mindgames are not just running left, then walking right. It is also about timing, waiting in front of a vault letting the spirit hear you and jump through half a second before she comes out of phasing. "Being unpredictable" isn't specific like "360" or "moonwalking". It can be everything. Actually the best way to learn it is to observe someone who is capable of tricking a spirit. But that is very rare. And as spirit while learning, you are not able to see what the survivor did to just disappear.

But I really would not think I know everything after 24 hours. I started playing Pig because of a daily and a really good match, thinking "wow, that was easy, let's do another one". Got some more 4k and thought, stealth killer seems super easy, and then all of a sudden I got a match where none of my dashes hit and I barely managed to get one sacrifice. Just as example. Sure, spirit is relatively easy to learn to become a good killer, but she is not OP. The problem is more, that most survivors prefer to complain than to adapt, like they did on Legion. Also Freddy got buffed because many killers complained about "7 seconds before I may hit?!" and stuff. But I know several people that could make good use of the aura reading ability Freddy had before the rework. He was not that weak.

I'm fine with anything making her harder to play, but nothing what makes the counterplay to her easier.

i think shes fine and has been fine when they finally fixed her months ago. To me, it seems like the forums for most of this year were complaints of swf, noed, and mom and its like yeah people had feelings about the spirit then, but the outcry wasnt NEARLY as bad as it is now and shes been the same since like......what Oct 2018?? But once they buffed freddy, and announced the nurse rework, its like people said "oh, if we make enough posts on the forums, we can get an easy nerf! It was as if people were just ADAPTING to the spirits power and playstyle because they had more pressing issues like DS,MOM,SWF etc.

Thats why i feel like this will be an negative domino effect because what will happen, is the survivors will complain about every aspect in the game that challenges them to think any differently than an M1 killer and eventually, all the killers will be like survivors and just be reskins

People have legitimately been complaining about her since her change, it was just mostly covered up by people complaining about the even more unbalanced parts of the game

"i think shes fine"... Are you main spirit and you like to get 4k in all your games?

    Edit: Sorry for the emote

Think about what your asking, does the killer want to kill all 4 people.

People are complaining since there isn't a SIMPLE way that can become muscle memory for survivors. There are a few things, such as collision and audio that COULD be changed though.

Mechanically, Nurse is probably still the best killer in the game, but with enough practice and mind-games, the Spirit can beat her.

I also slightly disagree with @Deadeye on the matter of Freddy. Even as a console player, where he was stronger than PC. He wasn't very good, and while I only played him with Smoking Splinters I still had enough of a feel to say that his power was hot garbage. You could do NOTHING to survivors unless your power hit. Even then, they had too much warning generally. New Freddy is pretty oppressive, yeah, but he feels like he can actually do something.

No, if you play spirit, it is almost certain that you get 4k (unless you lose the hatch).

I can assure you that if I play spirit right now, I get 4k in all games (unless I lose the hatch).

    Build:

Stridor, Monitor & Abuse, Nurse's calling and ruin.

    Addons:

Bloody Hair Brooch + Katana Tsuba (green addons)

Before we even get to "learning", we have to acknowledge that this is a 1 VS 4 PVP game. I'm hoping the game should not be adjusted 1VS 1 when it should be adjusted 1 VS 4...
