What is your tactic for readying up as killer?

I think how you do this sets the tone for the entire match.

 You basically have these options:

You ready up before any survivors enter the lobby. This sends the message: I don’t care if you are all P3 Claudette's with toolboxes or torches. I dont adjust my loadout for yours. I will take on all comers. You are a brave and fearless killer.

You don’t hit ready at all just wait for the timer to run out. Make them wait. Yes sir…you are the boss. Or is there even a killer there at all?

Next my favorite. After the 4th survivor readies up you pounce like an evil puma and ready up yourself within milliseconds. You are awake, alert and ready to hook them all.

Next the impatient killer. You click ready on and off to make them hurry up. Your time is valuable. You can get a lobby in seconds whereas they will have to wait another 10 minutes. So get a move on. I am doing you a favour by even playing you and my time is precious (PS4).

Finally the coward. You wait for them all to ready in fear that the harmless looking Feng Min will transform into a P3 David with torch at the last moment. Only when you are sure there are no nasty surprises do you hit ready. If the survivors don’t ready up you quit the lobby.

Which one are you?

I just hit ready as soon as I get the lobby, and do something else until we get into the actual match.

Sometimes I look up the names, and adjust my loadout if I happen to recognise a toxic one or 2.

Thats all really, I learned to stop caring about winning as killer. It just burns me out.

In Red Ranks, if I see a flashlight of any kind I will put on a Blindness addon or perk.

Most of the time, it's an Object of Obsession team. And most of the time, that blindness addon makes it really fun to break their aura reading to me.

    Edit:

Oh #########, I didn't read the whole thread. My bad. Give me a second to make another answer.

Thanks your for posting that, it's a bit of releif among all the whinning (on both sides)

My answer is brave and impatient : my loadout is ready before I search a match and is basically always the same for each killer. I hit ready as soon as I get in the online lobby (even if I'm alone) and I ready on and off if they're taking too long. That's my pre-game teabagging way.

I am usually the killer that readies up before anyone else. I prefer for the game to just start already. But I will wait if I see them carrying certain items.

I usually press ready as soon as I get a lobby.

Or after I finish choosing my load out... whatever comes last.

I spam ready up, so they think im farming.

Nod your head and hit some gens when the trial started. Once they feel safe, slaughter them all.

I fix my loadout if needed. Otherwise I ready up when I have a full lobby and no crazy high pings.

Well...if the survivor is ok with the ping...why not?

    it's worse for them anyway.

It's interesting to see that people actually think about these things.

I'll usually hit ready as soon as I'm in a lobby (both as survivor and killer) - I don't care whom I'm matched up against/with and what they're carrying. I'll adapt during the match. The only time I wouldn't ready up instantly is when I need another minute to finish my cigarette.

i usually wait until they are ready because if i press ready up too quickly i feel like they dodge more often... ("oh no he is ready i bet it's a spirit / mori" etc i guess)

Nothing really. If 4 Survivors simultaneously join a lobby all wearing the same skins and are all equipped with tool boxes/flashlights...I know that's trouble.

I only really change Franklin's Demise if I have it equipped and none of the Survivor's are starting with items.

I just ready up without paying attention much. In the past I often got nervous in the lobby and gone crazy about which perks I should use and if it is a strong swf team or not, but meanwhile I just play however and don't care much about kills, which is why I dont care much about the team from beginning.

I’m the killer who adjusts the build I’m working with if I see certain conditions.

If I see more than 1 p3 survivor then I bring a mori.( especially for the ones with tool boxes).

If all survivors bring items I bring franklins demise.

I might bring Noed/ Rancor if I’m in doubt.

If the survivors seem chill I might tone it back a notch and bring at most the 1 kill mori or some more random perks.

Note: If you drop your item in front of me I will leave you alone for a certain amount of time if you don’t pick your item back up, also I will be more biased and go after other survivors more often if i catch you with a group.( also picking up your item after dropping it= getting tunneled).

Usually I will go a different direction and look for different survivors unless you get in my way or pick up your item.

I ready up once 4 Survivors are in the Lobby. I dont care about their Loadout, their names or characters they are playing.

I also dont care about a Quickswitch, this is only the reaction on Killers dodging lobby because they are afraid of anything that might not end up in an ez 4K.

I hit ready as soon as I'm ready so I can chill for a while and do something else during the wait.

I just hit ready up, unless im doing something. Often times Ill be blowing BPs on the bloodweb while waiting for a game, so if Im still doing that... they can wait 60 seconds.

  • Raven014
    Raven014 Member Posts: 4,188

I don't really use any method for readying up. If I suspect that it's someone I know (that I don't like), I might just switch to Legion, just to rub it in their faces that I can beat them with the (arguably) worst killer in the game.

If it's someone I do know, I'll just send them a message or join their party (on Xbox, and only join if it's a 4 man) and just have fun with a meme loadout.

Randos I don't really have a method then.

For me there are 2 options, but both are kinda the same.

First, i ready up before anybody even shows up.

Second, i dont ready up at all to gain some time and i leave the pc for 2 minutes (going for a smoke, get myself coffee etc) and then i come back, usually right in time during loading screen.

I use the 60 seconds to pray that no survivors DC during the upcoming match.

I wait for the 3rd survivor to ready up. Then do so myself, make them think that I'm switching things up and adjusting my kit. Just tryna make them second guess themselves.

I just ready up. If I lose, it’s most likely not my fault to an extent. If they lose, well it’s mostly the lack of teamwork on their side or I was just able to apply enough pressure. This game isn’t about skill. It’s about time management, observation, and making quick choices based off the information you receive from your opponent as well as even your team.

Sometimes I'll stick with what I have n ready up, other times I'll change it up. Sometimes I make it special n bring a mori for the person with a flashlight.

Am I the only one that TRIES to play it cool? I am actually ready at the start but I don't want to look desperate so I hang around for a while before I ready up.

It's like giving the phone 3 rings before you pick it up so you don't get, "Oh wow, look at you waiting by the phone for me to ring."

"My phones right next to me, why wouldn't I just pick it up!"

Once I load into a lobby I just hit ready, and go back to watching YouTube or listening to music until I’m in game. I don’t care what survivors bring, who they’re playing as or whatever.

Though if I do see a strode realty key offering, I’m just noping out of that game.

I always wait to hit ready AFTER the 4th survivor has hit ready. I do this for a couple reasons...one, because when you're the last to hit ready, there's a loud sound that plays, which also doubles as a sort of jump scare, followed by a heart beat. Secondly, I do it because if you look at the scratch marks on the screen that represent the players who are ready, being the last to hit ready creates the slash that goes through the other 4, which are the 4 survivors. You the killer are that slash going through them, it's very symbolic of what's to come. Doing it this way sends a message that you mean business, and are not playing around, which is how a killer should be, in my opinion.

I just wait until everyone’s connection has stabilized and then I hit ready. If I see some items that make me feel uncomfortable, I slap on franklin’s and sacrifice their items to the entity.

I hit ready as soon as the lobby is full. Don't bother looking at the survivors, just want them to know we can go whenever they want.

I press "Start Search" or whatever it is and tab out, then I tab back in when I notice the match has started. Usually I don't even ready up as a result, but if I do tab in and I'm in the actual lobby I just ready up and tab back out again.

I don't ready up, I check every Survivor to see they are friends or know any of the other people in my lobby. Knowing if they're SWF helps me with my tactics, I am better prepared if I know and that's fair. If they all have Private profiles though I'll just assume they're SWF Trash and ready up.

Usually I keep the same loadout, ready up instantly, unless there is a P3 immersive Claudette, then I grab I Cypress and I save them for last.

Back when I used to play the Shape a lot, I would let the ready timer run down on its own. I figured it would encourage survivors to guess that the killer went AFK when they don't see me at the start of a match.

Other times I like to ready up right as the last person does, both because it ensures I won't get caught by any last second surprises and because I like to let them know that I am watching.

If I see a SWF-ish looking group I'll run the clock down while customizing my loadout for that specific team.

I don't care what items the survivors are bringing. Don't care if it's a Blendette. I choose my perks and add-ons then I saddle up for the ride and hit ready.
