How is your average matchmaking?
Are you finding your AVERAGE game to match you against players around your rank?
As killer, my instantly found games are 3-4 ranks above me. If I have to wait for a few minutes for a matchup they are invariably 5-6 ranks above me. (And often all load in at the same time, you can guess how those games go!)
As survivor, I get ranked with killers straight away and am typically matched with killers 3-4 ranks below me. (Which matches up with what I found in my killer games).
I'm in Europe and hovering between the Purple and Green ranks right now if that makes a difference.
What could cause this rank mismatch?

So I'm Rank 6 because my team keeps making me de-pip with DCs and my Killers are mostly Green Ranks, sometimes 9 or 10, rarely do I face another Purple and the Purple is usually my Rank.
As Killer I'm facing a mix of 5, 6, and some Greens. I'm Rank 10 right now but I was getting 5s when I was Rank 12 so nothing has changed.

Im rank 1 and usually i get matched with ranks between 1 and 6 but its not rare to have 1-2 people or even killer around rank 10-12.
needless to say thats like playing with less teammates

It's working as intended as far as the +/- 6 ranks thing is concerned.
Rank 1 survivor and rank 4 killer at the moment and I rarely see anything else than reds and purples unless a SWF party with wide rank spread is involved. Obviously others might have different experiences, but it's working as intended for me at least.

Rank 1 and I'm getting matched with White and Yellow rank survivors ._.
Maybe they're veterans or an SWF team but I have not had a single game where everyone was in Red Ranks.
I'm in the SEA Region.

Definitely not working as intended. Had a game yesterday with me at rank 2, a rank 1, rank 14 and 15 all solo matches against a rank 4 killer.
Similar other situations all day and I saw it on streamers too.

Yeah I know it's not working as intended for others, I was simply talking about my own anecdotal experience with it. I don't mean to deny matchmaking can get horribly drunk at times as I've had issues with it myself in the past.

As a killer I instantly get put into lobbies and usually all the survivors are Ranks 1-4. I am currently Rank 4. If it is a SWF group usually there is an odd rank or two. Sometimes Rank 11 and sometimes Rank 16. I’ve matched with all Rank 19 and one red rank. That is some dumb matchmaking to be honest.
As a survivor I wait about 5-8 minutes for a lobby and the killer is usually a lower rank than me. Like Rank 6. I am currently a Rank 2 survivor.
Matchmaking should be the average rank of an SWF group honestly. A Rank 2 and a Rank 18 should be matched with a Ranks 8-12. It would make lobby times so much quicker for both survivor and killers. I’m all for faster lobbies.

That’s how it used to be and it’s very unfun for the killer lots of times. A rank 9 killer against two rank 1 and two rank 17 survivors will have a tough game. If he sees the 1s he will struggle to catch them, even if he leaves them to find their weaker teammate they will flashlight save, body block, etc. If he somehow catches the 17s multiple times he’ll be accused of tunneling, sound fun?

Agreed, the old system was exploited by survivors having one of the team use their smurf account. I get lots of matches against red rank SWFs 6 ranks above me. I lose, but I know I've not been cheated.

It’s not fun for either side. Imagine being a newbie at Rank 18 and you are going against a Rank 1 Spirit and your teammates are Rank 3, Rank 17, and Rank 13.
Of course being a newbie killer and getting stomped by an SWF group is not fun but it’s also not fair for the three Rank 17s’ to get paired with a Rank 1 Spirit because their buddy is in red ranks.
They aren’t going to “adapt and overcome” either. They’ll just leave the game and play another game. It’ll dwindle the playerbase and in all honesty...the game needs more people playing survivor than killer.
It should be an average rank killer you get. Not one or the other. A Rank 17 survivor and Rank 1 killer should never face against each other or vice versa.

As Survivor, I'm currently rank 5 (I can't find games in under 10 minutes, so I've been playing killer instead) and I've been getting killers in the green ranks. I don't feel it rewarding to play against someone not near my ranking.
As Killer...I'm rank 8 and I keep getting Ranks 4, 3 and 2 Survivors and it's been disheartening and frustrating. This has been happening since I was rank 10. I'm stuck playing against groups that are much more skilled than I. I do hope the matchmaking gets fixed soon... I'm just glad rank reset is coming up =(

As a survivor I get matched pretty close to my rank and as killer I might get a 5 rank gap but nothing exceptional.

AS A RED RANK PLAYER *SIPS FANCY BEVERAGE*
...I have no idea, since I literally just hit red ranks for the first time. At rank 5, it has been taking me like 5-6 minutes to get in a lobby, solo or with a group. Playing on PC, West Coast USA.

Atm i play more surv than killer. So as surv rank 1 I get killers not lower than rank 6. but idk why i get mates down to rank 19 sometimes. idk but as rank 1 I would like killer and mates in rank 1 - 4.
as killer im currently at 8 - 9. since the MM change I almost always face higher ranks. even if I'd have to wait longer I want to be matched closer to my rank. Idk bout you guys

When I play killer (rank 11-10): Three rank 6's, close to pipping into Red ranks... And a rank 18.
When I play survivor (rank 13-12): two rank 18's and another 12, versus a rank 15.
TLDR: It's #########.
