Kill Switch update: Amanda's Letter add-on for The Pig has been Kill Switched due to an issue with incorrect RBT count.

The new Killer cannot be Rin’s dad

In “First Cut” Dad kills his daughter with his own different katana, most likely it was in house, he didn’t touch 2 swords from the altar.

Most likely in the Entity’s realm someone stole the sword from the altar, maybe somehow the Alchemist or someone else.

Like, why would he steal a sword from the altar when he already used different one?

First the entity constructs the world we play in from the memory of those that were there.

So the alter is being represented as it was when rin or her dad have seen it.

Since it moved we can safely say Rin’s dad has taken it and he has been taken by the entity so the entity updated the memory.

Also I’m pretty sure it would be nearly impossible for the alchemist or rando to grab it in the entity’s world because the end game collapse proves that the entity deconstructs every memory once the trial ends to save space.

Pretty sure it's a red herring, I just really don't see them linking two killers this closely.

Possibly someone else who has seen the alter before the entity took them.

I'd argue this could be a possibility but due to things like chests in the trials I doubt that someone couldn't take it.

The Entity can recreate areas from memories of those NOT participating in the trial. That's how we can have a match in Badham without Freddy or Quintin for example.

Rins Dad killed her with the Katana she is currently using to hunt survivors. So there where two Katanas from the beginning (the one her Dad had and the one still on the altar), while also missing the Tanto (being the middle part of the wall hanger), if DbD would have went for the traditional japanese Sword-Culture, which seems to be not the case. So all this is just unstated theory.

It Could be her Mother... She was murdered first by Rin's dad, and in Japanese culture, people who die from unnatural and violent deaths leave a stain of raw vengeful emotion in the world that persists in the place they were murdered. That's basically the entire theme of the movie Ju-On (the Grudge) that inspired the Spirit: The father finds out that his wife has fallen for another man, and decides to kill her, their child, and even the cat for some reason, and then kills himself in their home. There is some speculation that the fathers spirit is trapped with his victims, but its the victims spirits that are doing all the lashing out at the living because their deaths were so violent and completely undeserved.

Also, the entity basically made the promise that Rin would get sweet vengeance on her father... so making him another killer wouldn't allow her that vengeance, but the entity does like screwing with people and torturing them both mentally and physically, so it's a real dick move I can see the entity pulling. Either way, I'm pretty sure that Rin wasn't the only one that night praying for bloody retribution against her father, and a Mothers instincts to protect her child can be a real force of nature.

Being able to play as a crazy mad Samurai would be the bests thing ever

    It better be him!

But the sword that was missing was already missing in the real world, it was the katana that the father used to kill his family and that Rin uses in game. If it was another sword that the father took before being taken, we would have other sword missing, no the one that should have been gone since the beginning. Also, perhaps the sword is something like a gift for the Alchemist? We have to remember that the guy lost all of his memories from before the entity, so he can gain stuff from the real world.

And there is no reason to be the father, because in the lore stream, it was mentioned that he stopped being kill crazy after Rin took him, and that he was going to be miserable and depressed forever. He doesn’t have the kill potential anymore and personally, I don’t know why there are some people that are so hype about having him. He is just some normal guy wielding a katana, a salary man with a story and reasons that we already know all about, so he is going to be very disappointing if that is the “new” killer that they are going to go.

It technically can also be someone complete different related to Yamaoko. Going by the Lore of the Realm the first of the Yamaoka was a fiercy warrior who spilled blood on both side of the conflict. The known backstory doesn't tell us much, but it's possible that the person who took the Katana was the original owner/carrier of it. Even though he probably would have taken the mask as well.

But well. It'S another theory or possibility.
