It can be beneficial to intentionally set off the trap if you know the Hag is occupied (carrying someone else, for example), but most people just run up, unhook, and get downed by Make Your Choice.2 -
Why include a mod tag?

For the thread topic, my problem is when the person I unhook starts running when they’re the ones who watched her set it.1 -

I know the feeling, it's infuriating. That said, I can understand why some people try it (and fail miserably).
I knew a guy who did it under the assumption he was clearing the traps from the hook for a future rescue. Instead though, the Hag just took this as an opportunity to re-trap the area and essentially camp the hook without consequence. Pretty smart of her honestly, since she only gained from it. When confronted, the guy just said there was no point in crouching and left.
Then I got to thinking about it - is crouching actually a necessary counter to her traps, or is it a trap in itself? If she has Mint Rag, Make Your Choice, or even both, you're screwed even if you do crouch to and away from the hook because chances are you've given her enough time to run back to the hook and down the unhooked, unhooker, or even both for free. This goes double for when you heal on spot, and triple when you're in the basement. After all, the vertical distance you have to travel makes it so there's literally no chance to get out while crouching even with Urban Evasion before she runs back by foot and downs everyone (or at least the Make Your Choice target).
I'll still crouch for unhooks and gtfo personally, but after that I've always assumed anyone who triggers hag traps by hooks is following that guys logic and try to shrug it off. Not the best choice, but at least I can sympathize with their impatience somewhat.

This is great advice... until it's not.
If you know the Hag is clear across the map, or better yet carrying someone, you should be running around and hitting all the traps because she wouldn't be able to teleport. That's one of the most effective tactics to beat her, because without traps she is trash tier.
Not enough people realize this and insist on crouch walking everywhere all the time. Sure if she's able to teleport it's smart, but when she can't you should be running around to waste her traps.

Seriously, when I'm on the hook my fellow survivors do jumping jacks on the hag's traps.

Only on PS4 -_-This is PC, too. It's worse when you save someone with crouches, and you're prepared to heal or follow them to eat a hit if Hag comes back, but they just get off the hook and run, f*cking both of you with Make Your Choice + them being injured.

Why include a mod tag?Mod/dev/community manager/etc. tags are applied automatically when a mod/dev/community manager/etc. posts in a thread. It's a way for people to see which threads mods/devs/community managers/etcs. posted in. Clicking them takes you to their post.
Normally it's a tool to help people find answers to questions, but in this case, it just takes you to my dumb, not funny joke. So I wouldn't pay any attention to those unless you're looking for a response to the post.

I do this all the time, especially when I'm not the make your choice person and laugh when she drops the hooked persona dn tries to instadown me and fails. The other nice things is she then if she doesn't tp to me is she has to reset all those traps.
One thing that's annoying on pc is the persons sees the trap and still runs right over it when you crouched to save them. If you really want to be unhooked safely then hold your couch key when you get unhooked and sneak off. You won't trigger the trap if you both do this.
The only issue i've got with Hag traps since long before her rework is the trigger radius is stupidly huge. It's 5 character models I believe and unlike Trappe she can set it right in front of the hook. In fact the Trappers traps have to be stepped on and to disarm it it's 1 character model away.
If the Trappers traps worked like the Hags you'd be within 5 character models and trigger it without actually ever stepping on it. But right now it's 1 character model or so for the traps and Hag's should be the same. Now since the Hag Phantasms have collision as well they should change her traps to be same as Trappers.

Thanks for clearing that up. My apologies, OP.

If you see a Hag pick someone up, immediately run to the nearest trap and set it off. Make her waste the time to reset it somewhere else. Sure you can't see the traps easily, but after seeing a few go off you can guess what kind of Hag you're facing.
I hate it when SWF teams run around and set off every trap I have as soon as I pick someone up. So frustrating, and so much wasted time. Good strategy on their part though.
I'd hesitate to call her trash tier without traps though. As fast as trapping is now, you can reset your web mid-chase to some extent.1 -

Yea I would be okay if the reduced the range where traps trigger. It can be really annoying sometimes to know a trap is somewhere but trip it anyway because the range is so far. Hag is one of the killers I actually use and I'd be okay with this considering how fast I can lay them down. It encourages more careful trap placement.

If the hag is doing that "lingering nearby but kinda away" thing and someone is else near us I'll run thru the traps and haul ass the other direction hoping she follows me so the other person can do the unhook1
