SWF and Solo Survivors Gap
I was watching today's Q&A and there was a question concering the gap between SWF survivors and solo survivors and the point was made that SWF survivors have too much information that can be manipulated in real time due to Voice Chat. I was wondering that maybe to give the same type of information to solo survivors that SWF survivors already have is maybe the idea of implementing proximity voice chat. This would help solo survivors communicate to other survivors instead of cluelessly running around the map and wasting time trying to figure out what other survivors are doing. Also, I would like to note that adding this proximity voice chat feature would also help the killer as he should also be able to hear the survivors talking within a certain range.

That would be really cool imo. Imo the biggest thing about SWF is the ability to relay v i t a l information across the entire map. Making that info only travel a certain distance and making Killers able to hear it as well is extremely cool.
I will say though, that might generate a problem of if a loud noise happens on a Surv’s end it might give away their position. Like if their little sister starts banging at their door or some shite it might be a huge stealth killer.

That's why you use push to talk or have a mute button ready

I believe the devs had stated they didn't want to involve in game voice chat because the realm of The Entity is sort of like being asleep and you can't talk in your dreams.
Of course we also weren't going to ever get a Clown killer so who knows lol0 -

The other option is that the survs would not use it at all and prefer to use discord to cheat since the killer then cant hear strategy.
I would rather them use discord so i dont have to hear their ######### or some 12 year old screaming his head off. The ones who use discord are cheating anyway so at least this way i dont have to listen to the abuse as well.

Sure SWF is ez but from what I've noticed people who got to rank 1 solo and can maintain that rank are way better at the game than rank 1 SWF players. If u run into a SWF where all 4 have gotten rank 1 solo and can maintain rank 1-2 (atleast for a couple weeks) solo you will realize how much more difficult it is against players who got to high ranks through SWF mainly.

I agree with Envees though. I've played more than one KYF game where the survivors were deliberately making loud noises to confuse the killer and cover up for someone who was grunting in pain.
Sure, you could make the sound directional. I guarantee you'd get a 4-man SWF with 3 people all around you going "REEEEEEEEEEEEEE" into their mics so you can't track down the injured guy. Add to that the stream of verbal abuse you're sure to get from some of them.
I'll pass on in-game communication being audible to the killer.0 -

I use Discord. Granted, none of the people in my Discord are playing the game with me...

Well maybe add a feature to mute the survivors if you don't like it.

Proximity voice chat is what F13 had and if you have seen gameplay of it, then you'd know that a huge majority of the councilor players constantly threw profanity and other ######### at the guy playing Jason.
DbD is toxic enough without that ######### as well.

but it also provided teamwork across the board and both Jason and the counselors got to roleplay which also made the game enjoyable. Not saying that the same would translate over to DBD, but the topic is about giving the same information that SWF has to solo survivors and I believe giving solo survivors the option to give vocal commands instead of the two emotes would provide for better teamwork and a better overall experience instead of everyone for themselves mentality and bad plays across the board.

SWF could just disable in-game chat (or set a different push to talk button) and still use discord, etc.
I don't think this helps, to be honest, except making solo survivors even more vulnerable if the killer can hear them talk. Also, as another poster said, this would inevitably lead to killer taunting and more toxicity.
I don't get the while concept of bringing solo up to SWF by introducing more mechanics. SWF has one simple advantage - voice comms. Thete is no equivalent to voice comms except... you know.. voice comms. Just add it, or provide a discord link in the lobby or something to avoid the extra coding and performance concerns. Problem solved, now balance killers around it.0 -

Proximity and killer can hear is just stupid. It’d just help sandbaggers. Vietnam was was lost because they didn’t want to send in soldiers, but had too. So they sent about half the quota. Either accept imbalance (or for the war metaphor, just lose) or go all the way, don’t half ass it.
