Look, here's why they decided to give the cosmetics for free.
In my opinion they did the right thing.
Like look:
Here's a few of the cosmetics on Ebay.
These people litterally can scam you if they put a picture of:
[Enter Limited Time Cosmetic Name Here] and put Dead by Daylight in the name.
All I searched on Ebay was: Dead by Daylight Cosmetics and guess what popped up?
Look, The devs did the right thing. People are getting scammed. People are losing their cosmetics. People ar just freaking out literally everywhere due to even more issues.
The Devs are taking precautions so No one will ever run into these issues ever again.
And you know what? I support the devs in this decision. It's better than a lawsuit for the player getting scammed, or better than people paying about $2,000,000 for Gold Feng Min.
Plus all of the cosmetics listed were literally given out for free. Did you have to grind for some of them? Yes of course. But look, did you spend REAL money to get them? Or event currency? Ding Ding Ding! Event Currency meaning you got it for free.
People need to stop freaking out about "But.. I worked hard!" yes you did. But look, would you rather be selfish. Or would you rather not have everyone get scammed or pay outrageous prices and give the cosmetics for free?
I'd rather take the non scam route.
And if you ask me you probably don't even wear most of these cosmetics anymore, because better ones came out. And if you ask me you probably will grind more in the rift than any of these events combined.
But that's my opinion on the issue.

Honestly I don't get why people pay that much money for those, it looks eh. Then again I find Legacy pretty rad.

I want my free Legacy then.
I earned it, by not having to actually play way back then.
Since I didn't get the chance cause it was before my time its unfair, and therefore I deserve it.
Also they Legacy players never play with those skins, so give them away. People like me deserve them, cause we logged into DbD.

I deserve it, because I didn't play through it and earn it.
I mean I earned my Howling Moon event cosmetics, and now they are going to people that didn't partake in the event, or weren't playing at the time.
By that logic I deserve legacy for the same reasons.

I didn't earn it. I didn't grind for it. But I still deserve it because YOU people are basically saying NOTHING is special.

Very rarely were people demanding the other cosmetics. Maybe every once in a blue moon but not at the length you suggest. This is a decision BHVR made on their own. It wasn't driven by the community. In fact, it was quite a shock for all of us.

But NOT the event skins you couldn't sell and could ONLY earn.

You cry way too much. Legacy was given to people that grinded for MONTHS and MONTHS until they changed the bloodweb like it is today. I think you really underestimate how bad the grind was back then, especially with a bloodpoint cap of 500k. Those people that grinded for that many months along with prestiging rightfully deserved it.
Legacy is never coming back, ever.
