How about the game tells us who's SWF *after* the game starts?

For SWF, I've seen a lot of people recommend a UI element in the lobby, so we know who's survive with friends, so that we can plan accordingly. Obviously, the biggest criticism to that idea, is that everyone would dodge - and I'll be honest, I probably would too in some cases. So an element in the lobby is a no-go.

However, with the switch to dedicated servers, we can't easily tell who's a SWF in the lobby, so backing out is no longer an option; that has fixed - aside from the obviously teamed players - lobby-dodging SWF. And, they're implementing a DC timeout feature soon, right? So what if, after we load into the game, we can tell who is teamed up with who, so we know what we're up against? With the DC timeout feature coming up, a killer DC'ing at that point isn't a wise idea - and (though it might be too much), the killer could even have a multiplier on the timeout by DC'ing a SWF (again, probably too much).

While it obviously wouldn't solve all of the issues with SWF, it would help the killer plan accordingly after the game has started - it gives the killer more information, same way SWF gives the survivors in that group more information.

Salty people would just end up camping and tunneling the SWF players. Don't think it'd be a very good system. Some killer players overrate SWF way too much. Most of them are just as bad if not worse then solo players. Just lose to the power squads and eat the noobies up.

Counterpoint: Salty people would just end up camping and tunneling anyways.

Yeah, that's the first counterpoint I thought of about this, but I feel like the people who'd do that, would have gone and camped or tunneled someone anyways. But, I'd say you're right - it would be abused by some people. However, in the same way killers would abuse this extra information, there are some SWF who do the exact thing - they use their extra information to abuse players. And not all SWF abuse it, obviously. Some of my most fun games have been against SWF, but there are those that do abuse it - so, in that case, it would be the same with this, wouldn't it? There are some who would abuse the extra information, and there are others who wouldn't - it'd be the same story.

I feel like giving killers more information on SWF is a way to "balance" it, though; SWF is powerful due to being given information, so I feel that killers should be given some type of information on them, as well. And this seems like a cheap way to do that. The only ways to give killers more information on SWF - the same way SWF gives survivors more information on the killer - involves the killer knowing they are SWF.

I wouldn't mind a indication of it in the end result lobby honestly. Would be interesting to see who was with who and if you got beat by solos or multiple groups of swf.

If SWF are messing around, then it's fine. We all can still have a good game

But if SWF goes into tryhard mode, it's not fine. How is one-sided game fun?
