Proof of auto-aim and broken hit detection
The video shows multiple things :
- Killer's swing extends upwards and downwards to the point where the survivors feet can be above the killer's head or the killers feet above the survivor's head and the hit will still connect.
- There is a huge amount of auto-aim. The game starts moving me forward immediately upon doing a quick attack.
- Billy's chainsaw doesn't work on stairs if the survivor is crouching.
Mainly I want to discuss the game automatically pulling the killer forward and frantically turning the camera. This is usually disregarded by the devs as "the game trying to make the hit look better". But the problem here is that many of the hits that it starts adjusting for would NOT connect without adjusting anything. Tons of people also disregard bs hits as high latency, but as I'm showing here that's not always the case.
I feel like these things result in many unfair feeling hits and this should be addressed in one way or another.

Its nothing new that the auto aim is sometimes broken as hell^^ You are right but its not like because of that the game is unplayable. But I still have to admit that sometimes it is REALLY frustrating when you miss a hit without any reason just because of auto aim, that happens to me alot too.

i wish they removed auto aim from the game completely

My favorite auto-aim hits are those where it makes so you headbutt a wall with survivor right BEHIND it, or stop in place at half of a lunge, with occasional "auto-aim" into a place where survivor WAS a moment ago. So I'm all on it.

The main thing that gives me unfair feeling hits are dedicated servers tbh...
It's true, sometimes as survivor I get hit even when I'm standing behind the killer and he faces the other direction, but auto aim on the other side also has taken hits that should have connect.
I had one game where this problem accured a few times. I was right behind the survivor, but while hitting the camera suddenly moved to the side and made me hit objects instead. This happened about 6 times in that one game...

I'd like that too, but I wonder if it's needed to compensate for lag and DBD's wonky netcode.

Minecraft hitboxes, minecraft servers? Aim-assist? Yes.
I wouldn't brag about playing a shooter with an aimbot...

That's how hit detection works. When the survivor was above/below you were looking at them when starting the attack, that means they were in the "attack cone". When on the stairs instead the chainsaw makes you look above, so the survivor stays outside the cone.
Not saying it doesn't look wonky, but it seems working as intended.

Go read/listen all the countless explanations on how hit detection works in this game, then come back.

Even if it is intended, I feel like something should be done about it.
