Why the Lost Item? Greater penalty for DCs
I had a recent match where I brought a purple Med Kit with me to use for the Botany Knowedge challenge in The Archives. I didn't get a chance to use it - it was a quick match - we gen rushed and we all got out. I left with my Item and, I believe, the killer DC'd right as we all escaped. We still got all our bloodpoints but my item was gone forever. I'm just wondering why this might have happened.
Also, just a general community question - should there be a greater penalty for what are CLEARLY purposeful DCs?

That sounds like a bug. You should report it at https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/bug-reports
If you are on PC and still have the ability to get the log files be sure to add them to your post as well.

ah well that's a bummer! While I do play on PC, as well, this happened on Xbox, so I unfortunately don't have the log files. but I'll def report it. Thank you.

To answer your second question, there are plans to implement a new disconnection punishment system which will lock people out of the queue for some time after disconnecting from a match, depending on how frequently they have been disconnecting. It's currently being tested on the PTB on PC, and will probably be implemented on PC when Chapter 14 goes live. The system is reliant on the dedicated servers to function, though, so it likely won't be coming to consoles until the servers do.
You can find more information about it linked in the November Developer Update, under "Dedicated Servers" https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/103996/developer-update-november-2019#latest

Fantastic! I really appreciate the insight and help. It is unfortunate that those changes won't be coming to console right away - but that's great for PC. So far I love the balance on both - though it is good that it's coming to PC first cause that is where I've seen the most DCs (which never makes sense to me, but that's another discussion lol )

No worries! Yeah, they like to test things on PC first to streamline the process (because it's the only platform that they don't have to get another company's approval to roll out updates on) but hopefully it will be released across all platforms soon!
