Should Survivors be able to see the killer

feffrey
feffrey Member Posts: 886
Do you think the survivors should be able to see who the killer is during the lobby screen?
Killers are able to see who the survivors are and plan ahead if they do not dodge
But do you think it should be the same for survivors?

I would like to know if I could plan ahead against certain killers and switch my perks out to face that killer.

Bad idea survivors who hate killer x will just dodge and those that don't can counter. I think they used to see the killer in the past and it was abused then.

The killer can do that all he has to do is quickly put on that Franklin demise, that knock out and Iron grasp with whatever nonsense perks killers run to bully Survivors
Or go like most staple killers and use Bbq and chilli, A nurses calling , hex ruin with overcharge
10/10 chances if they see a Flashlight they'll put on Demise

It would be more fair in my opinion

No. Survivors don't that particular piece of information because then everyone would dodge lobbies when it's the Nurse.

Pro tip: The loading screen tips will occasionally tell you which killer you're facing.

Unless you mean you want to customize your perk load against a particular killer. Uhh, no thanks.

    picks doctor
Everyone runs Calm Spirit, Technician(?), Self Care and Sprint Burst

    picks Hag
Everyone runs Urban Evasion and Small Game

    picks Trapper
    Everyone runs Small Game

    picks Wraith
    Everyone runs Object of Obsession

    The list goes on...

No. But we should be able to see the name of the killer too, if they're going to show survivor names and profiles.

No, it’ll lose the suspense of not knowing who the killer. My favorite part of starting the match is trying to figure who I am facing. If it is too quiet I assume it is Myers,Pig or the wraith. It is the little things like this that make the game fun and scary.

I think the way the killer watches the survivors before they go into the game is very fitting for the game, story wise and mechanically.

I think the players name makes sense. But the killer should always be a surprise, that’s part of what adds excitement to the game. Keep the myster, and interface that is very telling story wise.

It's been said time and time again that not seeing the killer is a deliberate game mechanic, so no, survivors should not see the killer. Killer is there to counter YOUR setup, not vice versa.

  • xmenfanatic

^ that’s honestly how I feel. I feel that giving a survivor the power to sense the killer takes away a lot of the threat of him, which removes the survival horror vibe to a certain degree.

I don’t view it as a solid and long term benefit to add Kindred as a permanent passive effect. Yes it would make things easier, but I already know I’m gonna die sometimes, and it’s fun when you finally do get that win you’ve been holding out for.

it doesn’t fix camping and tunneling directly, and some people will always want to use those tactics unfortunately.

Yeah, I don't feel like dealing with survivors being able to see the killer in order to equip the perfect tools to negate the killer's power. If they see a trapper, then they will equip sabo and toolboxes...if they see a Nurse, they dodge...so then you will get the killers doing last second switching, which will just make lobby times longer. I hate sitting there waiting for people to ready up enough already...if that happened then it would become every lobby. It was bad enough when a survivor could check out the killer's profile when in lobby to see achievements.

Coming from the same person that thinks Freddy can face camp...

So no, it´s a terrible idea that would only be abused by survivors which would dodge, when they see a killer they dislike, or use the exact build they need to bully that specific killer.

i have seen some pretty good face camping Freddies not going to lie.
Although you have to point them in a dream world certain hook will give him enough time to pull you in

The unhooked guy might get away but he got you and can tunnel the other guy

Freddy can´t face camp. When you are hooked, you can´t see where he stands. He could be 10 meters away from you, searching for survivors. But you would still hear the lullaby.
After he unhooks you, you have 4-7 seconds (depending on freddys add-ons) until he can interact with you. That´s usually enough to get out of the basement or to the next window/pallet.
If he downs you with other survivors nearby, they should try to heal you (if they are still awake). Freddy won´t be able to pick you up, while you are being healed and has to wait for them to completely transition into the dreamworld, before he can hit them.

Every other killer would have grabbed the unhooking survivor off the hook, or downed you the moment you hit the ground.

I don't think so. In my opinion remove basically all aura perks from both sides, remove survivor 3rd person and we finally have a scary game

Survivors have power in numbers, Killers in turn need power in other ways.
This counts for the lobby as well: While the Killer can see them, the Survivors can talk during the lobby, make a plan, tell eachother what to bring to sync them better with your Perks or Item etc.

All the solo survivors I play with are afk in lobby, no chance to communicate with them
But then there are SWF, they can easily communicate all the time and can completely counter whole killer strategies

Not the Killer's fault they don't plan ahead.

I don't think either side should be able to see who each other is playing, other then maybe their names.

If survivors can see who the killer is, then it will make matches more vanilla, since survivors will have meta perk loadouts based on the killer you are playing against. I.e. Doctor is killer, so everyone will take calm spirit.

It would ruin the game for survivors to see which killer they are playing against.

If you could see who the killer was, you could immediately change to perks and items that counter them. Which is your point but also the counter argument. It would be too strong in a game already ruled by survivors.

So basically the killers get a free hand out and to counter all survivors for a easy win
Then they cry all day when they can't catch anybody

Seeing what Item a Survivor holds doesn't mean that Item is then disabled.

Well, honestly. What´s there to discuss? I play mostly solo and never get an answer when i write something. Usually people beg for party streamers, claiming they are using one (they don´t). But that´s about it.

Yeah, but what do you want to discuss? Unless you use an offering for a certain map, you don´t know where you go. Coordinating the sabotage of hooks is also difficult. Maybe perks like We´ll make it. But they also get a tooltip.

Even if i play in SWF, i rarely discuss a tactic. I play SWF just for the laughs.

Coordinating sabotaging Hooks actually ain't difficul at all, randoms or SWF.

As I said before countering a power can really cripple a Killer.
