Spirit overperforming
So according to the stats, it feels like Spirit was singled out because she was picked more, rather then over performing, as Freddy has better stats then she does, and at red ranks ties with Billy. So what the hell devs? Is Freddy next? Is there going to be no buffs for poor killers like Clown and Demogorgon? Nurse was underperforming and she got nerfed hard. WHAT IS GOING ON?!

Take the stats with a grain of salt. Nurse under performs because she's harder to play and as you can see she's played a decent amount. Freddy over performs because there are specific loadouts that are the issue, which should be addressed, such as Forever Freddy and Snarelusting which can get some fast downs.
What's going in is that they're averages and don't represent real matches.

I know this, but these stats are often used as the reasons for why they make decisions in regard to the game. They stated Spirit was over performing. And she is getting nerfed because of it. But why aren't killer getting buffs based on under performing then? Why was nurse nerfed, and especially so hard. People thought her add ons where the problem, so they changed those, and made her base power far far worse.

Base kit change is only really an issue if you were bad at her. There are issues with Spirit and we knew that before 'stats' said so.

She's also more popular than Freddy or Billy. That can influence her kill-rate.
Look at Hag. Least played killer but 4th in terms of strength.

Not true. The stats only show where there might be a problem. We do our research before making any changes to see what that problem might be, if any. There's a lot of people who would be happy to share why they feel the Spirit needed to be changed if you'd like.

The base kit change is an issue as it affects her ability to get around the map and apply pressure. She's already last over 10% of her kills since the nerf, so thats a significant percentage.

I'm not saying she needed to be changed, but really it was only the prayer beads and collision in my opinion. I feel like nerfs tend to go a bit over board in my opinion.

There's a lot more to "overperforming" than just number of kills. In fact, in the same stream where they said that about Spirit, they discussed how kill rate is only one factor that goes into balance decisions, and even mentioned that Freddy was actually the killer with the highest kill rate.

In all fairness, Freddy actually DID get a nerf recently in that he no longer can gain bloodlust while using his snares. These stats MIGHT be using info from both before and after this change.

Have you ever got classes in life then? It has little to do with math.
More played -> More practice -> More likely for Survivors to do fatal mistakes against her -> More kills

An increase in skill goes both ways. Making mistakes doesnt (for the most part). Running tiles as Killer is different from running tiles as Survivor. And human nature as well.

They didn't elaborate on the term, but as I mentioned, they acknowledged almost immediately afterwards that Freddy actually had the highest killrate, so clearly they saw more issues with Spirit than just her average kills.
It's possible that it had to do with the fact that she was considered low effort, high reward - that is, the problem wasn't precisely that she killed a lot of people, but that the amount of kills she was getting was disproportionate to the effort it took to get those kills. In other words, it was far too easy to do extremely well with her.
There were almost certainly a myriad of other factors that influenced the decision as well, based on other data that we don't currently have access to.

Stop pretending to know what's going on behind the scenes. You don't, and neither do I. Also, if you don't realize why spirit was and still will be a problem after the nerf then explain to me how do you know when she is phasing or where she is. And if you can't you're admitting that the only way to "counter" her is to either not get chased or to blindly guess.

So you just look at one stat out of hundreds? Pretty good job so far. There were and still will be several issuey with her power being frustrating to play against. Whats so complicaated to understand with that?

I honestly just want to know what leads to these decisions, as it was her "over performing" that was given as the main reason for her nerf. And just some explanation of what that entails, along with criteria for buffs/nerfs in general. Does it have to do with fun? Whose fun? What is the proper ratio of fun? Does it have to do with survivors/killers bitching? When does it get so much that you have to give in? Or is it some combination or possibly other factors I am not aware of?

The nurse pickrate through all ranks tell me, that she's unfun af. And freddy got no problems, he's supposed to be strong.

While the changes to spirit were well handled so far as I can tell there are also many people who have stated reasons why the nurse base kit change was not necessary or wanted..yet they are met with silence..it kind of feels like THOSE are not being taken seriously...

She needs to be changed because she has little to no counter play in her current form.
Unless facing red ranks, its very easy for her to destroy lower rank players especially with certain addons. And no "hiding" is not a counter. That's a counter to every killer.

This game is inspired by slasher/horror movies, right?? Anyone here ever seen a slasher/horror movie?? All 4 of us should be struggling to survive and it should be pretty rare that all 4 of us make it out alive. These stats look good to me (absolutely a survivor main, I suck as killer). No killers need nerfing at this point, some could do with a slight buff.

Survivors want to 1v1 the killer in a 4v1 game. They'll get there way, it's whatever.

Nothing will be done to nurse because killers don't matter, and survivors stopped complaining (sign that the killer is weak)

The add-ons in which were nerfed, I'm sure were determined by the use of statistics.
The Spirit base kit nerfs, which clearly left her in-game stats (Like phase speed, lunge distance etc) untouched. The things were nerfed on Spirit to make her not-so-######### terribly unfun to go against.

The problem is that these stats are not clearly explained to the community and so people take this "data" to one extreme or the other without really looking at what was conveyed to us. Basically this data shows nothing with balance because its too vague. I honestly wish this wasn't released because you now have people screaming "survivors where right!!!" or "this killer is OP!!!" when in reality no conclusion can be made from these graphs.

This is what frustrates me the most.
Everything they say seems to be valid only when it comes to nerfing killer.
Spirit is annoying to go against = nerf it
Legion = nerf it... Nerf it again.
Nurse= nerf it.
Fine, but what about everything that is broken on the survivors side?

Christ, pretty much every single killer hates one of these perks with every fiber of their being.

I'll let you in on a little secret... come closer...
There's 4 survivors per match compared to one killer.
That's $80 buy-in compared to $20 buy-in, not to mention an additional $40 for every matching outfit SWF squad.
Survivors always have and always will be much more profitable to please than killers. It's just math.
Of course, as someone who frequently plays both sides, I can understand the specifics of balancing is not as cut-and-dry as we'd like to think it is, but it really boggles the mind that survivor stuff can go so long without being changed (2 YEARS for old DS? Really?)

Because the Devs don't understand what over-performing is in DBD. 2 Kills is considered average even though realistically you need 3 to pip which is considered actually winning for Killer. Essentially, winning as Killer means over-perfomance which is laughably stupid. (This is for Red/Purple Ranks since anyone serious about what role they play are here or will get here eventually) The biggest problem is gen speed which they REFUSE to touch becuase the poor low ranks and it's the biggest reason why Spirit, Nurse, Billy are picked much more and why Freddy is so lethal. The first 3 can people down really quickly then speed across the map and Freddy has massive gen pressure. They aren't not "OvEr'PeRfOrMiNg", They are surviving and actually winning by doing their main objective, KILLING SURVIVORS. The devs are really incompetent sometimes, just look at the game in the beginning and how unbalanced it was until enough people said something. The devs would've kept it that way which is insane.
