BHVR missed more than they hit this update

As much as I am hyped for Yui, The Oni and everything else that comes with it. I feel like this update is more straight misses than hits :/

A lot of changes are honestly just more disappointing than anything, like removing the ability to see ranks of other survivors in your lobbies, the flick being removed from The Oni, event cosmetics not being given to the whole playerbase (This is just my personal gripe, I wouldn't mind either way if I got it or not.), Legion being nerfed to the ground, DW being buffed way more than it should (even though the devs did say it won't change nothing, it was nice to at least pose some threat if the killer has a small Terror Radius but is still nearby), Rank Reset only taking you to the previous rank colour rather than taking you way back (there's a reason people enjoyed Rank Reset).

Overall, while I am hyped and pumped for this update. I am just disappointed. Disappointed a lot of these changes went through.

The rank idea is a great idea though, the first few days with new players being paired with people who are good at the game, or people bullying newer killers during rank resets kinda suck. I see why they did what they did. Although I can see why people are against the new rank system.

I'm indifferent about the DW and BL stuff.

As a legion main I actually don't think his changes are really a nerf, I'm kinda looking forward to playing with it. I didn't really use many of the perks that people complained about loosing anyways. Well sept SB but there's a button for it so I can just use that if I really need it.

Cosmetics, well. eh. To each their own.

I don't see why the rank thing really matters, I mean there are people who leave the lobby if they see someone with a rank 20 in the group they just leave cause they well, avoid lobbies much like some killers do. But in the long run I dont think that matters much.

But I am looking forward to the new surv and killer~

I personally see Rank Resets as a way to relax after a month of constantly ranking up just because you played a lot. Now I can't really do that as either side :/

I'm not a fan of buffing a single perk over and over because one killer is busted if they move the needle another direction.

Good to see you looking at the positives here, at least someone's happy and that's enough to make me smile a bit :)

The rank thing matters as it gives you a TON of information during pregame as a Solo Survivor. It tells you which survivor you can rely on during the match and which you need to help more than necessary so everyone has a chance to survive. This update killed that. If BHVR wanted to buff Solos to the level of SWF, keep the ranking display in.

Deep Wound is just here to make the game look cooler. The devs have completely ruined it. At least its 2.4.0 version was ok and usable in some situations.

And wait they seriously ######### nerfed Oni?! Why am I not surprised?

Also the Killer Adepts just got much harder. Have fun getting four Iridescents against decent to good Survivors.

Wow.. Deep Wound is like a minor nuisance now. If you hold shift you're basically immune to it. Impressive, Behavior.. impressive.

F for Legion and Deep Wounds. All I want is a cooldown reduction for Legion or a smaller penalty for missing. A 3 second cooldown or losing only 50% for a FF miss would make Legion so much better. Deep Wounds is basically infinite now all I gotta do is run. At least you can't work on gens while Deep Wounded as much but this is a big L. :(

Where does it list changes made to the Oni? Read through all the patch notes and didn't see anything.

Most of Oni is intact, but you can no longer flick with him and downing a survivor will reduce your meter by a bit.

    • Added a small buffer for spawning blood orbs when crouching. A blood orb will spawn right when crouching, but can only spawn a maximum of one per second.
    • The Oni will receive blood orbs when pulling a healthy Survivor out of a locker.
    • 2 Blood Orbs spawn when hooking a Survivor.
    • Decreased the number of Blood Orbs spawned when a Survivor vaults to 2 Blood Orbs, down from 3 Blood Orbs.
    • Passive power build-up pauses when reaching a certain threshold (98%) before completely filling. From this point, The Oni needs to absorb at least one Blood Orb to completely fill the power gauge.
    • Picking up a Survivor will cancel Blood Fury, however, now it will not reduce your remaining power gauge. Downing a Survivor will not cancel Blood Fury, however, will remove a small portion of the power gauge.
    • Ending a dash now incurs a 1 second cooldown, increased from 0.5 seconds.
    • Decreased the aura reveal duration of add-on, Renjiro's Bloody Glove, to 3 seconds, down from 4 seconds.
    • Modified the turn rate ratio of Demon Strike to reduce last moment sharp turns causing the attack to affect a wider arc than intended.
    • Destroying a pallet with Demon Strike now plays the properly timed animation, lasting 2 seconds in total.

All from the Release Information post. It's near the bottom, under "FIXES & CHANGES FROM 3.4.0 PTB - BALANCE".

So to hell with the other Legion mains who have been using those perks, you've got yours?

I agree about the nice break from constant sweaty games at red ranks. I don't like the change for multiple reasons.

Everybody should know by now that its extremely easy to rank up as survivor. This means that some players who aren't great at the game are finding their way up to purple/red ranks. Now they will be stuck there even though they aren't good enough for it.

The other issue is people who hate the higher ranks will be encouraged to intentionally derank to face worse killers, potentially promoting more DC's before dedicated servers come to console.

I really didn't want this change implemented but it seems they felt very strong about it.

Time to dodge everyone without costmetics and everyone with low hours on Steam. They're obviously pushing everyone to play in 4 man SWF squads

  • What is the Oni nerf?

Not to mention they removed any value of rank again. Without resets working it's going to very quickly be a huge playerbase in the red ranks, and brown rank new players asking why they have long queues/get matched with red ranks.
