So... they're not giving out event cosmetics?
In the patch notes BHVR clearly stated they'd be giving out all past-convention AND event cosmetics. This includes the Lunar David jacket and Huntress dog mask along with the Summer Kate slip dress and Billy hammer. They aren't included this patch however, only the ultra-rare cosmetics.
What gives?

Apparently going back on your promise for Legacy is one thing, but going back on a promise for those cosmetics is another. 🙃
4 -
There's a difference between saying
"We're going to do this"
and
"We promise we're going to do this"
Apparently the DBD community hasn't figured this out, they don't owe you the cosmetics.
6 -
No, they don't owe us cosmetics. But to not make an official statement anywhere after saying they'd release them isn't okay either.
I'm more curious as to what happened that entitled to demand them be handed out.
8 -
Either way though it's technically going back on their word. If they said "We're gonna do this" and then don't it's still the same thing. lol
6 -
Its the same thing when they announced you'd be able to buy DLC with shards... but didn't specify about licensed DLC(like stranger things) being auric cells or real money only.
They wont make money if they give away cosmetics. So long as they meet their bottom line, they don't really care otherwise. When will the community finally learn? lol

They did make a statement. Read their latest post.

Literally every company on planet earth retracts statements after backlash, you'll be fine.

There's a section explaining it here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/108882/
But the short and sweet version is that we originally did not have a way to identify the people who had earned it, since it wasn't tracked. Since then, we found a way to do so, and so we're going to award them just to the people who had earned them. This way anyone who earned them and lost them due to loss of progress gets the back, which was the entire point of giving them away in the first place.
9 -
You could've just said that to begin with.

Thanks Peanits.
Maybe add this to the patch notes in the future? Glad everyone who was robbed of their event cosmetics initially was rewarded in the end.
1 -
Ahh yes but y’all did say y’all were giving them out at that point... it’s disappointed a lot of people and they lose faith in y’all when that happens why not give them to the others in a different color variation or give another chance to earn them ?
2 -
They wrote a statement about this.
And honestly, even though I would have really loved to get the Huntress-Mask, for me it is fine. Event Cosmetics are not in risk of being subject of Scam like the Code-Cosmetics and the reason why they would have given out the Event Cosmetics is not existent anymore.
For me its logical to not go for one solution when another, better solution came up.
1 -
All event cosmetics now can be "earned" by grinding the event or you can buy them with cells to skip the event. So why don't they just put these in the store to buy? What makes these event items so special?
7 -
I agree! :)
0 -
If giving people a ton of free cosmetics and then finding a better way for the ones that people had to earn makes someone lose faith, I don't really know what to tell them. At that point it would be an awfully selfish thing to do to get upset about not getting those last four.
As far as recolours go, we aren't looking to do that at the moment. Some of them are recolours of existing cosmetics to begin with, so a recolour would just be the default cosmetics that are already available. But in the end, giving everyone a recolour doesn't change the fact that you don't have the original (if you didn't earn it).
4 -
Will you guys allow people to earn them through future events? That way people still have to earn them and they’re not given away for free?
6 -
Are you still looking for a way to identify those that lost legacy cosmetics too? This gives me some hope.
1 -
Read his response in another thread. It doesn't affect legacy.
0 -
It's not mentioned in the latest update, so I'm basically asking for an update on the situation to see if any progress has been made on returning legacy, as progress since then has been made on returning the event cosmetics to those that lost them.
Edit: Nevermind. It was indeed answered in another thread. I was just looking at the patch note threads.. yikers. Thanks.

Why not put these items in the store so those that earned them still get them for free while others have to pay money for them, like every other event cosmetic? Why is it the players fault for not knowing the game existed during the time of these events, making unlocking them physically impossible. In a previous statement, you claimed that exclusives were no longer part of Dead by Daylights vision, so why are newer players not given the chance to obtain these items, either via auric cells or another event? (it is also known that future events will be put on hold for the health of the game)

heres my take
no bloodletting and stuff because people paid money for them
no event cosmetics because people took time out their day to play the event to earn the cosmetic (keyword: earn)
1 -
I own Bloodletting Dwight, I bought a t-shirt for a friend years ago when the promotion hit. I paid for the t-shirt and received it. That's what I bought. The code was a nice addition.
I honestly don't see the issue with distributing it to others. My $15 t-shirt was well purchased and at this point with all the other ultra-rare exclusives given out I'd hate to rob others of the cosmetic.
I also own most of the event exclusives and wouldn't mind them on the store or handed out. Exclusivity is pointless in a game like DbD in my eyes.
Just my two cents.
2 -
But what about console players that never had the chance to earn some/most? Surely they're the exception
1 -
But it's unfortunate that there's no way for new players to earn those cosmetics. Every event cosmetic released since I started playing has remained obtainable in the store. The only ones that can't be earned/unlocked in any way are from events from before I started playing. It sucks for new players. The Huntress's Hound mask is so nifty, but there's no way for players to currently or any time in the foreseeable future earn either it or a cosmetic similar to it.
1 -
Sadly not.
Xbox doesn't have em and I assume Nintendo Switch and the PS4 editions of the game do not have them as well.
So they by my quote "SHOULD" be unlockable for consoles in the near future, hence consoles had no chance to earn them in the first place meaning PC has exclusivity on those cosmetics for now.
@Peanits can probably confirm if they will be available soon for consoles in an event like the original events.
1 -
Oh shoot I forgot about Switch too. Those players don't have squat. I know about Xbox cause my sis was complaining today she couldn't unlock Hound Huntress today lol. Ps4 only has the "randomly crashing games" glitch, no other exclusives here
1 -
Ps4 player here, those event skins are in fact on the console version of the game, I own the Billy hammer and Huntress mask. Switch doesnt have em but xbox and ps4 do.
As for the cosmetics themselves, I like that I earned them by playing and I get to show off that I played during that time but hey, others should be given the chance to have it as well. Maybe if they want to keep the exclusivity of it to differentiate them from the people who earned it and the people who were given it those who earned it by playing could get a bloody prestige version of it? Everyone would have the cosmetics but people who played the event and earned them get a cool prestige of it. Would that be possible @Peanits ?

Yeah, it sucks for us console players lol.
We get left out from alot of stuff... lol.
Except people going to heaven in the entity's realm..
We have that across all editions of the game:
Poor Detective Tapp... tried to save everyone. In the end he went to heaven 🤣
0 -
Well that sucks, I guess I'll be stick to playing pink wig Enti- I mean Nea :)
1 -
You seem to be the only console player to ever have them then, because literally no other player, not even my boyfriend (who played since release on console) has them
0 -
Really? I've seen Kate's with the summer top and David's with the howling grounds shirt. The cosmetics themselves arent really that popular anymore tho. They were made at a time before the store and the Hallowed blight which really shook up how events in the game work, not to mention there's better options in the store and most people go with those over the event ones.
0 -
I've never seen them like ever on console, killer or surv. Are you sure those are the event cosmetics? I've even asked a few friends who play on PS4 and they said they never seen them either
Edit: btw I don't want to call you a liar, that's not my intention
0 -
Sorry my dude. You will likely never be able to get these cosmetics. Should have displayed "loyalty" and "dedication" by playing this game earlier. Having the cosmetics for a significant period of time was not enough for some people. Nope. They howled and cried because it is inconceiveable someone would have something they have. It is not like like they would be taken away from anyone. They just do not want you to have it.
4 -
I am 100% sure the survivor cosmetics I've seen were the cosmetic ones and the killer ones I own are the event ones as well. Here are some older screenshots of my billy with the hammer and my huntress with the hound mask on ps4
1 -
Weird, like I've never even seen them and neither has anyone I've met who played since release. Like again, I don't wanna call you a liar, so I'm gonna assume they were super limited time? If they were limited then it still really isn't fair tbh
0 -
The events lasted like around 1-2 weeks if I remember correctly. It was just hooking survivors on special hooks and stuff for killers and completing special gens for the survivor side. It was a little bit of a pain due to people going out of their way to stop you from completing your stuff but besides that it was ok. Maybe they'll bring back the cosmetics someday.
1 -
I have the Kate shirt. I'm on Xbox. Both the Howling Grounds and the Scorching Summer BBQ were in-game events avaliable on PC, PS4, and Xbox. I played the events myself.
0 -
Hopefully they do. Hey if you have them on PS4 you can add me to show me, if you want. I don't wanna call you a liar, I just would like to confirm it
0 -
I play on ps4 and have all the event cosmetics it exists however as others have said it’s quite ugly when compared to store cosmetics hence why no one really runs them but if you still need to see them I’m willing to showcase them for you

BHVR is going to officially change name to BACKTRACK
2 -
i was mistaken on part of this.
event cosmetics should really be put in the store tho.

They hated him for telling the truth... If this isn’t the most selfish thing that has arisen from this community, i don’t know what is. It’s literally not taking away anyone’s cosmetics, but instead allowing others the chance they never had. Most people who have them don’t even use them and many don’t even mind others having them. There are so many immature voices in this community and unfortunately they ring the loudest. (Many of whom i’ve spoken to don’t even want it released in the store or unlockable through future events simply because they want to be part of a “special” group).
