Why is the Killer's red glow even a thing?

Just thinking out loud, Survivors already have plenty of pallets and vault spots so why do they need a red glow that makes it even easier to juke the Killer?

If you chase a Survivor to a safe pallet spot but you're able to maneuver in a way that hides the red glow then your chances at getting them are a lot better.

This game has so many bizarre design choices that I'm struggling to think of why the red glow is necessary. Then again, I have the same exact thought regarding the hatch (Why is it even there? Why does it reward playing badly?).

You said it yourself, it can be used by both survivors and killers to get an advantage. It adds an additional layer of depth to the gameplay.

The hatch is there because a 4k must be someothing rare and require an additional effort from the killer. Besides, the whole theme of the game is that survivors must always have the hope of being able to survive somehow.

I guess Owl is right ! The way I see it is :

    • 0 Kill = survivor wins / shame on the killer
    • 1 Kill = survivor wins / killer's honor is still safe (if he didn't camped right from the start of the game)
    • 2 Kills = tie, nobody wins nobody lose
    • 3 Kills = killer wins / shame on the dead players, but honor still goes to the lone survivor
    • 4 Kills = killer wins / shame on all the survivors

So in my opinion, always aiming for a 4K is just greedy and not realistic ; at least the hatch has its purpose. It makes 4K a rare outcome (for non youtubers ... wich are proffessional players by the way)

It is of no advantage to the Killer whatsoever to have the red glow. Like I said, if you remove it there's an extra element of surprise when they juke and they certainly have plenty of pallets already.

Seems to me that the Hatch is there to reward scrublords for playing badly.

"If you chase a Survivor to a safe pallet spot but you're able to maneuver in a way that hides the red glow then your chances at getting them are a lot better."
These are your words. No red stain, no mind games to get easy hits.

And AGAIN, like I said already but I guess you're a little slow, sometimes you can't maneuver to hide the glow so therefore there is no need for the glow.

    I

Sometimes you can and sometimes you can't, and so? It's part of a killer's ability to use it at his advantage and not always it works. But with no glow survivors would just throw pallets randomly as soon as they loose sight of the killer and mindgames wouldn't exist, making chases more dull and boring.
As I already said the stain adds more depth to the gameplay. That's its purpose and what it exists for.

And theres no need to being rude since no one here was.

Not everything has to be an advantage to the killer?

It's there to help survivors see which way the killer is facing and his field of view to make stealth easier. Otherwise people would just never try and move. Which makes the game dull.
