Do you think the devs will make survivors more than just skins? How could they do it? (Without breaking the game)

Good point. If survivor abilities are implemented then they would have to have so people can't play as the same survivor.

It would be interesting to have survivors with certain abilities. But as pointed out, it would probably lead to certain survivors being picked almost all the time unless the abilties are all perfectly balanced, which is really hard to do.
I read the idea once that every survivor could just have a certain small passive buff or trait. Like Dwight having a 3% higher repair speed and Nea maybe recovering from exhaustion 10% faster or so. I think that could maybe work, if the values are kept very low, but it might also lead to certain survivors being picked much more than others.
It would be nice to have survivors be just a tiny bit unique though.

what do you think about nerfing survivors by only giving them 3 perk slots and instead of a 4th perk slot they have an ability slot. An ability is like a perk but it is unique to its respective survivor. Each survivor would have 3 abilities but they will also still have their teachables.

Seeing the exact same survivors every game wouldn't be fun for literally anyone. It's fine the way it is. Playstyles are what make survivors unique.

Playstyles are what make killers unique. Also why would you see the same survivors every game if they are all equally powerful. Let's just ignore that many inexperienced players already complain about seeing only p3 claudettes. Ignorance is bliss, a true dbd connoisseur I see.

Would be really nice honestly. However, if you are suggesting that survivors can equip three perks, and then one of their teachable as the fourth, exclusive perk, than that would indirectly nerf survivors since pretty much every meta perk is a teachable, which would mean you could not use any meta perks together. Of course increasing perk variety would always be great, but it would nerf survivors and at the moment I don't think survivors need any nerfs. So they would need a small buff to compensate for that.
I might be understanding this wrong though and you mean survivors should each have 3 exclusive abilties in addition to their teachables, of which you could equip one of them. That would work better, but I think creating three abilties for each survivor would be way too much. Don't forget there are a lot of survivors in this game now. To be fair this is wishful thinking anyways, I don't think it's very likely that the devs want to create an ability for every survivor. As nice as that would be.

Yea I know right now they can't add abilities because of the sheer amount of work required but eventually it could be a possibility and I can't wait for that glorious day.

Because that's how things work. Whatever pertains to the meta is the most used. That's not ignorance, it's fact. How many people do you see running DS, Adrenaline and Dead Hard in higher ranks? Abilities would have the same consequences. And you know damn well that nothing in this game is ever "equally powerful". Something ALWAYS takes the top spot because that's how game metas work. But I guess it's like you said, ignorance is bliss.

nothing in this game is equally powerful? How do the devs get people to play different killers instead of playing the "best" killer? You're just in denial that this game isn't unbalanced and that it is possible for survivor abilities to be implemented.

Because the game IS unbalanced. I play both sides, I know this. And I never said that it isn't possible, but that if it was, it wouldn't be balanced. No one can guarantee that they would be all balanced when taking literally EVERY perk into consideration and how it would impact certain abilities, making specific combinations better for specific situations, which would create a meta, which is what happens every time a great perk is released for either side. There is no denying that. If you do try to, then you're neglecting basic facts about this game and every game in general.

I never wanted them to instantly implement survivor abilities, that's impossible. I'm talking about when it's convenient for them to do so. Besides who said they would have to be unbalanced?

Okay, you're missing my point. Something, someway, no matter how hard they work or how meticulous they are, a survivor's ability, when paired with certain perks and maps, would be unbalanced. It always happens. There will always be that one person who finds something that makes healing 2 survivor states happen far faster than it should, or find some way to make a 40 second exhaustion time go to 20 seconds instead. It's coding, it's never perfect. That's the point I'm trying to make. I'm not saying the idea is terrible, but it's not a good idea as of this moment in time. That is what I'm trying to tell you.

No, I said "I don't think it's a terrible idea", not "I think it's a good idea". I'm not agreeing with your OP, but I'm merely stating that adding unbalanced things to an unbalanced things is a terrible idea. Putting the game in an overall worse state for the sake of abilities that survivors don't even need. Removing the 4th perk slot would make it unbalanced versus killers, which would mean you'd have to remove THEIR fourth perk slot or not add abilities all together, as it would overcomplicate the game and how much work the devs would have to put in.
And clearly, judged on how many people have commented on this post, your idea would probably end up being in the minority, and we know how well the devs listen to the minority when it comes to numbers.

well according to most people on these forums survivors need a major nerf because of fast gen speeds

We're not talking about gen speeds, we're talking about the abilities you are proposing. I'm talking about how YOUR idea would be in the MINORITY because it changes EVERYTHING about the game. The vast majority wouldn't be comfortable with basically having to relearn every little combination. Pick a topic and stick with it, dude.
