I earned the event cosmetics, and here is my suggestion
Do not release the event cosmetics for everyone or put them in the store. Those cosmetics feel special because they were a timed exclusive that took effort rather than money to obtain.
However, I am not opposed to new players being able to get them. They should have to earn those cosmetics the same way we did.
I suggest annual events every associated holiday where the event cosmetics will once again be obtainable the same way they originally were and for the same amount of time each year. Timed exclusived that come back every year would be really cool to see in DbD.

And if there isn't enough development resources available, the community won't be upset for redoing the same event from a previous year. At least I know I won't.

So I assume you're suggesting something like the hallowed and withering blight, where new cosmetics are introduced for the event each year, while old ones become available to earn again?

Why not both? Old ones return with a couple added every year. So yes, you are correct.

I think this is a fine idea. New players should have the chance to earn the event cosmetics.
I never see anyone wearing the BBQ or Howling Grounds cosmetics when I play on PS4, so either very few people earned them or the ones who did aren't even using them. Either way, seems like a waste.

this event has the old hallowed blight skins available through the serums once again! it is there! so they did that here ... :)

Nope, new players shouldn't. End of story.

Elitist much?

But new players have to share all their new event cosmetics and don't get any exclusive event cosmetics for themselves with no say in it whatsoever.
Putting all the new event cosmetics in the store but not even letting new players earn the old cosmetics via future events makes it look like the game doesn't value new players. That's the impression it gives. That's not healthy for the game, and it's not a good way to keep new players around. A game that can be as frustrating and anti-fun as DbD needs players to feel rewarded and valued if its wants a happy playerbase.
I play a PC game that is a ridiculous grind, and every week is a new event with new cosmetics, and they'll simultaneously re-release old cosmetics and let players earn those as well. I don't feel like the game is taking anything away from me by doing that. Even the pre-release bonus I earned was given out freely later. Maybe I'm just too laid back, I dunno, but I've never seen the people who dropped hundreds of dollars on the cosmetics complain, either. It's a money hungry ######### of a game, but at least I don't feel excluded just because my PC couldn't run it when it first came out.

Being able to get them with money cheapens how special they are.

You could say that about the Hallowed Blight and Lunar New Year event cosmetics too, then.
But in my above post I didn't say the BBQ and Howling Grounds cosmetics should be purchasable with cash; I said players should be able to earn them in future events, the same way players previously earned them. That way it's as fair as it can be to both sides.

I agree. And yes I was disappointed that those skins could be bought with money.
