Why do so many people hate the new content ?
Myself, Im having the best time I've had in a good few months when it comes to dbd. I love the new killer, he seems strong but fair, punishing mistakes. Playing as him is also amazing, you really do feel like an angry giant (His vault animation while enraged is gold), the new map is also really cool, I agree with it being a bit too dark, but it's design and tile placement seems really balanced and fun (Also, the statues are the coolest thing ever), Yui is a great survivor, her design is cool and her perks are interesting. All the balance changes we got are also nice, new Kindred, new Noone Left Behind and Spirit nerfs, which made her more fair to go up against, while also not turning her into a mid tier killer. Literally the only things that I can see people being upset about are Legion, and bugs. But we all know that they've always been bad when it comes to these 2 things.
So yeah ... Why are you all negative ? Im not defending BHVR, Im just genuinely curious.

I think it's mainly because of the bugs released with the dlc. Killers getting trapped and survivors falling into the infinite abyss easily ruins games.

Because Look at legion , Doctor , Wraith , Pig and clown now tell me what they have in common. After look at maps like Haddonfield , crotus prenn and coldwind farm and tell me what they have in common.
If you figured out then the content can be postponed a bit for fixing.

Im well aware of how much these things need fixes, but they've been like that forever, and people only now all complain, not to say they refer specifically to the new chapter most of the time.

Thing is if the devs were at least listening just a bit the killer won't have to be changed 50 times to be right. I mean legion have been touched literally three times this year. What do that change ? nothing he is still as bad as before but took another nerfs on his way.

The new map looks cool but as killer it is too dark with too much foliage and too many obstacles, survivors can crouch in front of you and disappear.
Spirit feels like she hits a wall when coming out of phase, and her lunge is messed up.
Oni is clunky on console; trying to use his power punishes me more than the survivors. Struggling with him is one thing, but add to that losing survivors because the game drops frames or the maps are too dark or scratch marks are invisible because of all the foliage, or survivors are faster than the killer because of a speed glitch, and it ends with having survivors teabag in the exit gate... it feels like it's not worth bothering to play killer. Oni looked fun in the PTB, so how he is on console is disappointing.
I do like the new Kindred and No One Left Behind.

I'm tired of lukewarm killers with trash perks. Game has been in desperate need of a meta shift for the last 2 years and the devs seem to be going to great lengths to make sure that never happens.
6 -
They completely broke the game as usual.

there is a plus though, legion was nerfed but.......... we got Oni which is like the best killer to come out in a long time, so in away Legions sacrifice brought Oni!... and they're 4 characters! we could potentially do this 3 more times!
1 -
It's such a waste, though; Legion has some awesome cosmetics. Let Clown be the sacrificial lamb; the only cosmetic of his I like is his Blight head. Quick, someone set up the altar, maybe it's not too late.

I've already got one set up! Let's do this!
...
...
Don't ask.

I just don't like the content.
Yui looks cool, the Oni is fun to play, Kindred and NOLB are good but everything else is bleh.

who knows maybe sacrificing Clown, legion will come out stronger. maybe having RHPF apply deep wounds, nerf the purple bleach addon a bit, and reduce his holding bottle MS by like 2% ..... yeah and after that, lets see what happens.

Basement bug.
New map has almost no lighting.
Oni being clunky and very hard to play on console.
Oni being nerfed.
Another legion nerf.
Postponing.
Poor perks.
Other than that pretty good chapter

Legion, who was already weak, getting nerfed made me quit the game.

Just wanted to start off by saying that I enjoy the new content more than I dislike it, so I'm still fine with everything as a whole. However, what I really dislike is how the challenges and achievement (Bodyguard) are making players play. A lot of games are thrown because a lot of people are trying to do them and the skill of solo queue players aren't good enough to mitigate the time needed it takes to do some of them. This is especially true for me in the off-hours.
It's also very easy for me with testing the killer powers, like for Legion, Nurse, and Spirit. They still feel too easy, at least with Nurse and Spirit but I think part of that is because of the new content, and how the survivors play. I've only played a few games with the Legion and I'm getting similar results, but even then, I don't know if it's because they're screwing around with challenges or not. As a matter of fact, killing in general is overall more easy since the Rift and that's not right. However, it is a casual experience, so maybe it is?
My suggestion is that if BHVR wants to add a new mechanic to the game to adjust the balance, don't do it through the Rift or challenges, or if they do, create them in a way that doesn't disrupt normal gameplay.

How dare survivors be allowed to stealth and juke and force killers to actually have to look and track survivors!
1 -
Scratch marks should be visible. The survivors aren't doing anything special with their scratch marks; the map is doing all the work by hiding the scratch marks in the first place. Survivors shouldn't be able to crouch and disappear when I'm looking right at them. That's not stealth; that's broken. On top of all that, there's no way to work around the frame drops.

Legion was always an extremely flawed killer. I think they're trying different tweaks because they don't want to go into a full rework. Unfortunately a full rework is realistically the only way to fix Legion.
1 -
Exactly. They need so much help they need to just rework them. Remove Deep Wounds from their power for a start.

The new map is pretty garbage as a killer player, there's no visibility, the main tower thing has so many ways off it's not funny, and the little statues everywhere making chasing a pain, let alone swinging.
It's the first chapter in a long time where I don't think any of the perks on either side are something I'd ever consider in a build. Nothing of Yui's is good, let alone strong, and nothing of Oni's feels impactful in the slightest, let alone worth running over tried and true perks.
Basically the only content that I don't dislike from this patch is the Oni himself, and he's certainly not the sort of playstyle I enjoy. (ie. I don't like Billy, why would I enjoy Billy 2.0) He's also not exactly enjoyable to play against. You take a single hit and it's like old Legion, no matter what you do or how well you play, it's impossible for him to lose you and you ARE going to go down. Someone else takes a hit and he can charge across the map, and spin 180 degrees to one shot you around a wall. Then, yaaaay, you get to be slugged every single time, because that's what makes a fun killer.

I love it all just ONI sucks on console

Ok then fix the scratch marks. You only complained about darkness and foliage. Survivors shouldn't be forced to play in the wide open on every single map when half the killers now completely break all stealth. I guess its only okay for killers to totally break stealth and enjoy stealth gameplay?

"scratch marks are invisible because of all the foliage"
That's from my first post.
Maps should have structures and line of sight breakers. There's a difference between that and as I said survivors being able to crouch so that you can't see them right in front of you; I shouldn't have to trip on them to know they're there. The combination of the darkness and the amount of foliage is a problem.
Disappearing in the environment due to a lack of color contrast is not stealth. I play stealth as survivor, I duck behind structures, I quietly hop windows, I keep track of the killer's FoV so that I remain out of sight. That requires me to actively stealth; crouching and disappearing so that the killer looks right at me and doesn't see me... well, in that scenario I'm not doing anything, the map is doing all the work.

Yep, over all one of the most disapointing chapters to date. The killer is cool, but not my style, and everything around it is just awful, especially the nerfs to so many killers in a row (and soon to be doc). The bugs that break the game are almost as bad, but at least I figure those will be fixed. The killers likely aren't going to get a buff for a long time, if ever.

Oni can't 180 like he used too, they made it like 90 degrees or something, he has plenty of counter play.

I’m on console I can play oni just fine just takes some adjusting to you can even flick with him if you know what your doing

Legion nerf, base nurse nerf and the massive amount of bugs and delays. But they also made good balancing like Freddy or Spirit.

The new killer perks are pretty good. Well, 2 of them. They just don't feel good for the Oni himself. He's too loud for oblivious to have an impact, and his power makes survivors want to constantly heal so as not to power him up.
0 -
Because they add and changes stuff despite input from the community asking them otherwise. Doesn't help that critical game-breaking bugs pops up every update.

Outside of obvious bunch of gamebreaking bugs that appear every patch(pretty good job so far/10 for future QA department) I see the issue with some maps being designed by map designer to look alright and not to be balanced.
The new maps looks cool and all but I had one game(as survivor) when all other survivors decided to not do anything and hide. Game lasted about 30 minutes with my trying to do the gens and loop until killer(Legion) finally managed to land a hit and find some people.
Central structure looks cool but we don't need GIANT BAMBOO FIELDS all around the map that greatly limit killers visibility.

Nobody is disappearing into the environment. Survivors should be allowed to actually hide. If you are in chase, you have scratch marks. It is the killers job to accurately track survivors. That's what the scratch marks are for. Indoor maps make it nearly impossible to juke showing crystal clear scratch makes. I can say that as a spirit main. One heavily stealth map is not a problem. It gives variety. Again, I dont see killers complaining about completely breaking stealth all together as gf or wraith. If scratch marks are invisible and bugged that's another issue all together. If pretty clear the devs make killer sided and survivor sided maps and some imbetween. Survivors should be allowed to enjoy stealth. Saying they crouch and disappear is a gross exaggeration. And that was not your first post. You can see mine literally above it.

I don't hate the new content. I just hate that with every single release of new content the game gets broken for several weeks. The new map is poopy IMO though.

Nerfs and balancing aside It just hasn't peaked my interest, The only thing I actually dislike is the Map since it's a nightmare for tracking.
Oni is fine, not for me but I can see why others would like to play him. I've bought killers before who's power I just didn't have fun with and they just go to waste so I've been picky with which killers I buy, I haven't really enjoyed any of the Killers that much since Spirit.
Then you have the Perks, We're in desperate need of a new Meta but sadly that doesn't look like it's ever going to happen, most perks released are usually pretty gimmicky.

Maybe it's different depending on platform/TV screen, I dunno. but I'm not the only one having this issue: the new map is way too dark. Survivors can crouch and disappear in the foliage. The lighting on all of the maps is messed up right now; my friend is having a lot of trouble seeing on the MacMillan maps. But to me the increased darkness is worst on the new map. I'm fine with active stealth, as I describe, but passive camouflage is a problem. I shouldn't be required to run an add-on like Amanda's Letter to see survivors. I almost never run add-ons; I'm not going to start just because of one map.
Doesn't matter. Until the map is fixed, I'm just going AFK when Sanctum of Wrath comes up. I've seen an increase in the number of Blendettes in my lobbies since the new chapter released. I don't care enough about the game to kill my eyes trying to find people crouching in pitch-black bamboo shadows. The map gives me an actual physical headache, which means it's definitely bad for my eyes. There's no video game that's worth my eyesight.
And here's my first post in this thread:
Third paragraph, second sentence, I point out that the foliage covers the scratch marks. I double checked just in case I was mistaken, but that is definitely my first post in this thread. Fifth post after the OP.
Edit: Peanits has stated that the devs are aware the new map is too dark. It's not just me.

Yeah I think the game is dead on console for sure. Unless your are SWF survivor which is boring asf.
