Just played against SWF but on comms

I'm fine with SWF but SWF on comms?

This needs to be balanced for killers and solo survivors ASAP!!! When SWF came along nerfs and buffs became broken as people will abuse/cheat using comms.

Virtually all of them were streaming so checked their streams afterwards and the amount of information that they were giving each other makes it almost impossible for the killer, e.g. It's ghostface, do gens he is chasing me near killer shack, Ready with flashlight he's coming to pick me up, Ruin is where I am downed, Don't rescue me he is looking around here go heal the other...

I can only see buffing the solo surviors and killers to now balance this, give every suvivor the perk of in game comms and then buff killers... until then I can only see myself waiting in line as a survivor or not play the game :(

Yeah I don't include bugs when it comes to balance...balance assumes everything is working as intended.

All bugs need to be squashed, for sure.

we deal with this bs since release. so nothing will change about it, deal with it.

Potentially unpopular opinion - I think what BHVR should do is add voice comms into the base game for solo queuers, and then buff all killers to be able to deal with it. Then they won't have to worry about nerfing SWF without making solo queue even more unbearable.

    They're working on it

They ultimately can't police the use of separate voice communication platforms. I don't think the comms themselves are the problem, it's that most killers can't complete their objective as quick as the most generator-efficient survivors can. Also, there is no killer on the roster that presents misinformation to survivors, so they can't really trick comms effectively. Maybe the new Doctor will.

    Welcome to the big leagues.

    Jokes aside

Console players deal with this on a regular basis. You learn to adapt to it and work around it if you keep playing against SWF. SWF are a major reason I went from using Ruin to relearning killer from base.

    It's not cheating!

SWF players gain the incredibly unfair advantage of third party communication without any downside and approved by our beloved devs. You know you love em! <3

Tell me... How can you tell when they are & aren't on Comms? 'Cause let me tell you a secret.... Almost every single SWF is on Comms. Get over it

  • Member Posts: 3,047

A lot of SWF are also just friends playing casually. Everyone acts like any SWF is a Death Squad ready to destroy you the moment they spawn in.

Exactly. When I see a SWF, I just say "######### it" I really don't care about them because, like you said, Most are Casually playing. The only time I go harsh on a SWF is if I know they're gonna try to ruin my fun by being Toxic.

I personally like the idea of voice chat as a normal part of the game but I think it should work like it does In f13 where you have to be near someone to communicate and the killer can also hear you.this prevents the across map communication while also allowing for survivors to coordinate their efforts

This is the logical fix that BHVR refuses to do. Unless they implement this swf and solo queue may be forever apart.

  • I think they are trying to do that now, they just....are failing at it.

Lmao the kindred buff is NOT the right track, the long and short of it is with the current game mechanics you should not be able to just wilfully provide information. Information is literally one of the biggest hindrances to killer baring any OP perk called DS lol

  • Member Posts: 202

Nothing should be done to SWF in my opinion, Maybe a blood point bonus at most but that's it.

You can't limit someone for playing with friends, What needs to be done and what they've said they'll do is that they want to buff solo to be on par or close to SWF and then buff the killers.

I doubt this is ever going to happen tho the Devs are just way too slow at these kinds of changes.

Very many people see the Kindred buff as an incredibly good change, even killer mains. Anything that makes solo survivor actually bearable is a good move in my book.

Information perks are strong, yes. But something like Kindred is only active while someone is on the hook and helps improve survivor coordination and make it less likely for someone to get 1 or 2 hooked before dying. When survivors are more coordinated in general, we can then buff killers accordingly. I do think buffing solo close to swf is the way to go.

I don’t mind facing swf, I either win or I lose and I don’t mind the better player(s) winning.

    Is this still real life?

  • Member Posts: 198

So then you do want to chase out the rest of your killer players lol. As it stands right now if solos got buffed to be as strong as SWF then I think gonna lose a lot of the remaining killers. Because very few of us trust them to bring killers up to snuff, given the changes they have made in the past and their completely disregard for any killer concerns. They try to placate issues being sticking Band-Aids on them rather than addressing it at the core

I do not want voice comms to be added to the game! I just want to get that out there. Too many players are teenagers.

Things like Kindred being base kit would be better. Adding a totem counter to Small Game. Do like Identity V where there are some pre-made "Help me!" "I'm being chased!" "This gen is almost done!" text options, which would also allow people of different native languages to play together easier.

But not in-game voice comms. Never. Never ever ever. I don't play solo survivor because I'm in a chatty mood. Half the time I'm playing in the middle of the night when I can't talk because everyone else is asleep. Just no.

One would assume you would be able to mute it like in any other game. Which most of us solo queue people would do anyway.

  • Member, Alpha Surveyor Posts: 7,519

But the problem is if voice comms were added to the game, then the game would be balanced around that, penalizing any survivor who chooses to not use the feature. I think solo survivors need more information, but not through in-game voice comms. However, if voice comms were added, then that would be the end of attempting to buff solo survivors. Any survivor not playing on voice comms would probably also get messages from those who are, blaming the solo for anything that goes wrong during the match.

Hopefully, because PS4 and Xbox and Discord already provide ways for SWF to be on comms, the devs won't waste time trying to add it to the game. Why add a feature that's already taken care of and done better by third parties?

  • Member Posts: 1,110

They have to balance it around that anyway - cause it's the only way to balance around SWF.

  • Member, Alpha Surveyor Posts: 7,519

I just meant that they need to buff solo survivors to be more on equal footing with SWF by giving them similar information to what voice comms provide without requiring solos to use voice comms. If they add in-game voice communication, then solos will pretty much be required to use it, and that would be bad.

If you want to quit and call it being "chased out", be my guest. The only truly miserable experiences a killer could go against are 4man swat teams on favored maps such as Haddonfield. Other than that...most swf teams are mediocre at best and then a lot of solos get stomped by either a good killer or their own bad teammates. Nothing but good comes from closing the gap and balancing accordingly.

You don't have to trust bhvr if you don't want to. While they take forever to make changes, we are in a far better spot than we used to be. Balancing is only getting better and better. I think everyone will be fine. Including these scared killers.

Reading through the comments this is what I have interpretted.

I understand some people use killer and survivor but looking at the avatars it seems that survivors believe the game is balanced better than it has been and whilst killers are reluctant to introduce comms for everyone they agree it is the only way to balance the game.

Whilst the game might be balanced better than it has been there isn't really an arguement as to why solo survivors and killers should suffer from the advantage of SWF on comms.

I can see four ways BHVR are likely to address this:

    1) BHVR can determine who the SWF and on comms or not reduce their perks/buff killer or give more information to perks for non-SWF, IMO this is unfair.

    2) BHVR can introduce each session with comms as an option so far survivors to choose who they can listen or speak to. IMO this is the only true way to balance the problem since SWF was introduced.

    3) BHVR identify who is SWF and who isn't to the killer either before the game starts or the killer will set preferences e.g. no swf, 2 swf max, 2x2 swf etc. IMO this will likely lead to changes with ranking and will also further kill the game further with the survivors taking even longer than it does now to find someone who will play killer against them.

    4) BHVR do nothing, they understand playing survivor not on comms was how it was intended and adds the uncertainty/terror/fun playing the game but also understand that survivors on comms is fun for them chatting with friends but is also not in the spirit of the game.

I feel I'm trying to be neutral to both killers and survivors, for each killer we lose the longer 4 survivors wait. Also BHVR please sort out hatch/key and morii's they are just unfair to both sides whilst you develop further licenses/chapters, fix bugs, fix inifinite loops, op surv&killers perks/addons from stats and make it so escape as a survivor feels like an achivevement ;)

What's why i dodge every single three+ SWF.

  • Member Posts: 201

They should for sure add comms for solo survivors as well, seeing as how there's no way to get rid of it for SWF teams. If everyone has comms then the information given out is to be expected and hopefully killers will be able to adapt to compensate, with a little help from the devs buffing the killers in some way.

Just saved my ruin totem from getting cleansed, hit them and they ran off. I returned to kick generator and noticed another survivor at the totem.

Hit them, then another survivor, then another!

Messaged them afterwards, apparently they don't believe they are cheating playing SWF... had to explain SWF is to play with friends.

PS4 users chat with Sony party program, PC use discord.. I understand it's fun but looks like I'm not playing dbd now because more people don't enjoy playing killer against these swf teams and BHVR aren't arresting it... I'd play survivor but I don't have 5 minutes to waste for NAT error messages or for lobby dodging.

Please BHVR you introduced SWF, please deal with this as it is killing the game and I can't play survivor just say there waiting

  • Member Posts: 940

    To be clear:

    Swf is fine

    Swf on comms is cheating

  • Member Posts: 1,110

    1) There's no way to determine with 100% certainty if anyone is on comms. It's impossible without audio evidence.

    2) You are right in that the only way to balance SWF is to bring solos up to their level and then buff killers accordingly - but adding VOIP would be..well, difficult; and scary, given the state of this community.

    3) With the current state of the community and lobby dodging already being a huge issue, I don't see this being a good solution.

    4) This seems the most likely, at least in the short term.

One thing remains constant - you can't, under any circumstance, punish people for playing with their friends.

  • Member Posts: 940

And speaking with one of the survivors as to why we have so few killers and long wait times as survivor his solution was... I have no friends and that I should stop playing the game... Sigh
