Hate Rift Challenges

have noticed the Dcing has gotten much worse since the rift challenges started. People have all these challenges that have to be done in a single match.

If something happens that prevents them from completing the single match challenge they're working to complete they just quit and start a new game to try again.

The rift challenges have made playing awful recently. Single match challenges are the single worst idea I've seen implemented into this game in the whole time I've been playing it.

While I know single match challenges weren't designed to encourage DCing they create a huge incentive to do so the moment someone reaches a point in a match where completing their challenge becomes impossible.

Yeah the increase in dc's are definitely frustrating and I do see the correlation between rift challenges and the increase.

I'm going to add that there are other factors contributing though: DC punishments are imminent along with the fact people dc over literally anything these days. DC rates will probably go down once punishments actually make it live.

As far as the challenges themselves go...I generally don't like the single trial stipulation on a lot of them, especially as survivor. It does feel bad when you miss your chance to complete a challenge and it isn't always in your control. Survivor challenges in general rely on luck, teammates, and the killer. I only hope their next rift has not only better designed challenges but also better PLACEMENT of those on the Auris web. Biggest issue with a lot of survivor challenges are the fact they're bottlenecks and require everyone to do them at the same time.

The punishments won't affect the volume of DC's for me anytime soon. I play on PS4 and I guess the punishments for DCing aren't going to happen there since there's no dedicated server.

It's my hope once these ridiculous rift challenges go away it gets better. I would honestly guess the amount of DC's I've seen since the rift challenges started has at least tripled.

@mmain What makes you think the tome/rift system will ever end? They have made it pretty clear that there will be more, I expect the next one will be out directly after New Years. Plus, from my understanding, Tome 1 will still be available for people to finish long after the first rift ends. I believe it just won't give you rift fragments anymore.

I hadn't heard that. The last couple weeks there have been challenges that:

    a) are little more than motivation for people to no longer play to win because they're only interested in completed challenges.

    and

    b) are basically an enticement for people to DC the moment they reach a point it's no longer possible to finish a challenge

Are you saying they plan to keep doing these types of things? If that's the case I may as well quit playing now. For me it's not fun playing like it's been the last 2 weeks or so. Playing 10 games to play 2 or 3 where people are actually playing to win isn't worth it to me personally.

@mmain I agree it hasn't been fun, but nobody knows what the next Tome will bring for challenges. This was the first one, so hopefully they learn a little from the data they collect, and the people here on the forums. We can only wait and see what will come next.

The two things I hope to see are no bottlenecks. Get rid of the web and just let us progress the challenges we want to do first. And less grind, meaning cut out about 20 levels in the rift but keep Tome 2 the same length as Tome 1 is. Basically, finishing every challenge should also be enough to finish the rift. Every customer that finishes the rift track is a potential buyer of the premium, while every single one that doesn't is potential lost revenue. Also, when there is less grind involved less people will feel rushed to complete it and players won't be farming challenges as much, which ruins matches.

Agreed. I've refused to participate in these challenges. They've done nothing but create toxic play at a level I've never seen previously.

If they do it again they'll never get another penny from me because I won't be playing.

It makes no sense to me that they've actually added an element to the game that provides major incentive to play toxic and DC. There's no need to point out that wasn't their intent. I know it wasn't, but it was the end result regardless of intent.

If they continue it will be the end of dbd for me and I'm predicting lots of others.

Solution: Allow players to work on one challenge and one master challenge (the ones that require to be done in one match) simultaneously.

Don't worry, soon they'll have to continue.

3 different excerpts I read, and I will find those links just to save face, have said they don’t need dedicated servers to Implement DC punishment. The system will still know the difference between killer disconnect, system disconnect or manual disconnect (player dc) 💁‍♂️ But I guess we won’t ever know

I hope you're right and I've misunderstood something. That would be great.

I definitely think the ability to do multiple challenges at once would make it a lot better
