Why was unhook tech removed?
For anyone who doesn’t know, unhook tech is holding the unhook button for a little bit then releasing, then you could run through the hooked survivor and then the killer would hit the hooked guy while you saved.
It was a great camping counter so I’m curious, why remove it?

Tbf it was a counter to incredibly unsafe hooking in the killers face regardless of what the killer or survivor does leading up to it. Its annoyed me before as killer but it happens so rarely that I tend to forget about it.
Only high rank players seem to know about the tech and high rank players generally have 13 other ways to bait/ avoid hits, so this isn't effecting anyone who can't manage without.

Maybe to make it equal? if the killer can't hit through them then you shouldn't be able to move through them?... As much as I agree it helps against facecamping, it isn't used just for that as I remember one nancy running a loop around the hooked survivor on the game map around 4 rooms in the under, do a grab to bait a hit, then continue running cause why unhook someone you're looping around continuously

I also get annoyed when all the high rank killers start to moonwalk so I can't tell which way their are going but hey I guess we have to wait for this one a bit more

You mean while you are still in the unhook animation, so where the survivor getting unhooked still has invulnerability? If so, then I agree, that shouldn't be removed. Sadly didn't know this was a thing until just now.

The person getting unhooked definitely needs some invulnerability to stop getting farmed or downed instantly. 2 or 3 seconds invuln would be ideal.

This is off topic. And slightly baffling. Mind games are the fun part of high ranks which actually involve skill on both sides. Abusing collision oversights for free unsafe unhooks is not comparable.
If this is a hill you really want to die on, make another topic so that people with more patience than me can explain why you're wrong more clearly.

Sure it is not comparable. Abusing the red stain that is supposed to tell which way the killer is going by default is trully worse I agree. And that was just a small comparison to show why such thing as the hook tech is nothing really. As you said it is just an annoying thing but It is extremely easy to deal with if you are patient as a killer. On the survivor side though it requires some brain

Well it is about the red stain not about the keys sadly. The key here is what the red stain does and why it exist. And the devs do care usually when something is used not the way it is supposed to - for example being able to fast vault in places where u shouldn't - its just wasd keys as u said, the hook tech is also simple wasd

If everything runs smoothly, nobody comes up with an exploit and the devs can fix it quietly.
Of course, that happens not often in the time of the internet.

It's really weird. Killers weren't able to hit hooked survivor in a previous patch so this tech was nerfed, then they brought it back saying it wasn't intentional, now the tech is gone entirely

it's already like that: survivors just unhooked are invulnerable until they regain control of their character.
2-3 seconds would make a difference only if the player has sprint burst, otherwise the killer can simply follow you (if he wanted to farm you anyway).
In any case, this would also be an indirect nerf to borrowed time.

I'd happily trade BT for a 3 sec invulnerability. Basically survivors want to walk up to the horror monster and steal his prey without consequences.

Agreed, it's not like it wasn't easy too counter if the killer read it, so I'm not sure why they removed it. I guess it was considered as much a bug as Oni's flick.

Just use Borrowed Time. Second strongest survivorperk in the game. No reason not to run it.

Good. They need to remove survivor immunity too when unhooked. Somebody needs to take the damage. Survivors get enough free escapes as it is they don't need invulnerability as well.

Really hope this is sarcasm and not a "dig" at his comment. Survivors are 3rd person and you are complaining about killers walking backwards to confuse you with their stain...a gamble the killer takes since he is 1st person and has to guess if you are even there.

Why is it when I see these survivor mains in their SWF groups playing, they always go against the shittiest killers? Like, is their self esteem really that low that they need flex that they can bully players with like 1/10th of their playtime, who are already at an disadvantage?

They all do work but at red rank probably once in the match.
And that BT trick is gonna work at any rank... the survivor on the hook is a complete meat shield.
