Don't worry, the devs won't ban anyone unless there is conclusive proof that they did the wrong thing, no matter how many people report you for something. The people who say stuff like "I reported you, have fun being banned" are either mistaken themselves or are just saying that to scare you. So if you did nothing wrong, you have nothing whatsoever to worry about 😊

Exactly, if you did nothing wrong and didnt broke any rules that are listed here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system#latest
then you dont have to worry about people telling you they reported you. Reports are being looked at case by case.

Besides having bad internet not being a bannable issue:
When you know that your internet gets bad when your family gets home, it would be decent of you to play survivor as long as we don't have dedicated servers. Or talk to your family that not everybody uses the internet at the same time.
Lag switching or very bad killer internet makes the game highly unfair or even unplayable for survivors.

When I watch pc players, I'm glad that we don't have dedicated servers yet on PS4, even when that means facing the occiasional lag switcher/killer with really, really bad internet.

Mate they don't ban anyone. I see the same toxic survivors constantly no matter how many times I've reported someone no matter how long since the report. You're safe.

You can't lag switch anymore, the servers don't allow it.

We don't have dedicated servers on PS4 and Xbox. Nothing changed for us.

Better: every router has a priority option. So OP should make his ps4 highest priority so he never will have issues again when other use the limited bandwidth again

You won't get banned but please look to sort out your internet. Knowingly playing a game with poor internet is close to lag-switching, you don't have control of the lag but you know it's going to happen and going to cause issues with other players.

If you know your internet is TERRIBLE and you still killer to gain a competitive advantage it's reportable.
Keep that in mind.

Don't play off MacDonalds wifi

Funnily enough a lot of times it can be the person that is complaining that has bad internet.
But yeah like others said OP you have nothing to worry about.

Nothing will happen if devs don't have any proof that you were.

I know the rule you're referring to, and I agree it's pretty vague, but all the same I don't believe they ban people for playing the game on bad internet.

Dirty lag switcher, just kidding. I used to get that kind of message from Survivors occasionally. I finally did upgrade my internet, but even on the old the game functioned normally some fo the time.
And no sweat about getting banned on PS4 yet. Last I read, they still haven't enforced anything like that on PS4 yet, so all those toxic players who try to ruin the game for others are still able to play until devs decide they will start acting PS4 reports. I'm sure a big problem is that of you ban too many people, many of them likely won't start over so you're messing with your player base.

How does the server prevent lag switching?

I know you can't get banned for playing woth bad internet. But like I said if Its TERRIBLE and you are aware of it, it is.

Because it's how dedicated servers work, the only way too lag everyone on a dedicated server is too hack into the servers themselves. Since the Killer isn't the host anymore they can't lag switch too gain an advantage, all they will do is make it harder for themselves as they will lag like crazy, but not everyone else.

I know what you're saying, I'm still pretty sure it's not bannable.

OP cannot be banned because he's not trying to gain competitive advantage. It's their parents come home and ruin the ability to play and instead of sitting around doing nothing, playing survivor (which on PS4, is not necessarily a great idea if you aren't used to it. I assume OP is a killer main.), or switching to another game which the lag would still probably effect, OP would rather enjoy the game as much as he can even thought there's lag. That is not a banable offence, for they are not playing for competitive advantage. Plus if they truly did it for the advantage then why play when the parents aren't home?

You dont need to lag switch to gain a competitive edge. Standing 10 ft away from the hook with your chainsaw held up does all the work

Lol. People DO get banned on PS4.
Reporting is just more tedious than on PC.
Just capture the footage of the gameplay (the SHARE button),upload it to YouTube as 'unlisted' and send the link to the devs to follow up with your report.
Reporting on PS4 with the current interface is what really deters most people from ACTUALLY REPORTING.
Just hitting the 'report' button does nothing.
It actually just makes it easier for the devs to find the ACTUAL DETAILED REPORT you would fill out should you click on the 'help' button (the speech bubble with the little question mark inside).
